Basically, I'm going to try and make chapters shorter for a while, because having them as long as usual won't be sustainable. But I still want to update as much as I can.
This is how we all wanted this conversation to go (or something along those lines). Sorry if I get quotes wrong, I haven't rewatched ASIP in a bit lmao
3rd Person P.O.V
"Sherlock! On the house, anything you want! For you, and for your date!"
"Do you want to eat?" Sherlock asked, passing John a menu.
"Yeah... sure." John's head was spinning. Date? Is this a date? I bloody hope so. "Do you?"
"Can't eat on a case. Digestion slows me down."
"You should still eat though. When was the last time you ate?"
"Why do you care?"
John looked up from the table and caught Sherlock's confused gaze. He couldn't help but smile as a million thoughts and answers raced through his mind.
"It's rude not to eat on a date. Makes the other person look bad."
"I've never been on a date before."
"Okay..."
"Can you guide me through it?" John didn't respond. "Uh, it just seems like you've done this before- I mean, most people have..."
"Yeah, I suppose I could help you out." John stood, and moved to sit closer to Sherlock. "Just, don't freak out, okay? Just... talk about the case. I'm sure that'll make you feel better."
How does he already know me? Am I that obvious? Maybe.
They chatted about the case for a while. Sherlock was shocked about how helpful John could be. He knew a lot about forensic sciences and what different wounds meant.
Sherlock was beyond impressed; most people at NSY were stupid, of their own accord. Sherlock felt a bit sorry for the main DI who's first name he could never quite remember. The first time he met Lestrade, he read a few interesting and/or sad things about him.
Married unhappily for 5 years, only stayed with her because she got pregnant with twin girls.
She had been cheating on him since they started dating. They had been together for 6 and a half years.
Lestrade had been looking for a way out for a while now.
So, he went to Sherlock's brother for help.
Lestrade had gone to high school with Mycroft.
Mycroft helped Lestrade get a quick divorce, and they had been going out ever since (6 months when Sherlock first met the DI).
Lestrade had undiagnosed ADHD, and it gave him some struggles in his line of work. But he worked through those challenges because he loved what he did.
After they finally solved the case, John and Sherlock walked away from the crime scene, trying not to giggle like idiots.
"You... you killed someone for me-"
John gripped Sherlock's hand and pulled him closer to his side. "Of course I did. This was a date, after all."
Sherlock looked down at John and smiled genuinely (and comfortably) for the first time in a long time. Sherlock lightly squeezed John's hand, and John couldn't help but smile back.
"Can I please tell Mrs Hudson we only need one room? If not, that's fine, but I... I like you- I like you a lot and-"
"Sherlock-"
"-I'm asexual so I won't-"
"Sherlock!"
"Yes?"
John sighed, rolled his eyes, and grabbed Sherlock's face in his hands. He brought the taller man down and kissed him. It was gentle and precious. It was a moment reserved just for them. Neither of them cared that people could see them. They were happy, at that moment, just to be with each other.
"Ditch the second room." John mumbled against the taller man's neck, as he placed light kisses there.
"Thank god..."
On the other side of the street, DI Gregory Lestrade stood addressing his team. Mycroft Holmes was already at the scene, as he had been checking on his younger brother.
When Greg caught sight of his boyfriend of 2 years, he couldn't help but smile. He told his team that they were done for the night and that they'd process everything in the morning.
He made his way over to the government official and practically fell into his arms. It was well past midnight at that point, and Greg was exhausted.
"Home?" Mycroft asked, helping his partner to his feet.
"Home."
