whats that feeling. the one where everything hits you like a train. it runs through your body as it finally settles in your mind. it makes everything so much clearer. sometimes it will tear things apart and ruin it.
the feeling could be so refreshing as you finally connect the dots.

counting each step you took down the staircase you finally made it into the living room. the painted walls and furniture looked bland. it was simple. white and gray, there were no outstanding colors that caught your eye.
you liked it that way. things that were always quiet and bland-normal, caught your eye.
taking your time to make it to the kitchen you passed by the unusual red envelope that sat on the counter top. you paid no mind to it as you grabbed your bag.
walking to the front door you stared at the walk in table. deciding to take your car you grabbed the keys that had been untouched for awhile.
being greeted with a gush of wind you let the cool air sink in. making sure your phone was in your pocket you got into your car backing out of the driveway.
it was a silent drive as you did not find the need to turn on any music. so you let the normal sounds fill your ears. such as cars passing or the occasional honking of cars. turning the same corner you do everyday the school building came into view.
turning the wheel once again you made it into the student parking lot. finding your spot you quickly turned into it making sure you were parked right. getting out of the car you grabbed your bag placing it over your right shoulder.
the student parking lot was further than the regular one so you took your time getting to the school doors.
you couldn't find the need to hurry and rush into school. you walked and just thought of everything. by now it was like a routine. every chance you had by yourself you would always stop and think. maybe your problem was thinking. you had always done things on impulse.
the more you walked the more you noticed how weird your bag felt. pulling it off your shoulder you held it in your hand taking a look at it. sighing you realized it was open. lifting your free hand to zip it closed you couldn't help but notice something familiar.
grabbing the rectangular envelope you closed your bag putting it back onto your shoulder. there was no name on the outside of the red envelope. you had no clue on when this was placed in your bag. ripping it open with your pointer finger you opened it up. looking inside there was nothing.
scoffing you threw it into a trashcan you were passing by.
finally making it inside the school you walked past the cafeteria. walking down a hallway you were stopped. "hey y/n!"
smiling, you looked at the female next to you "hello hitch."
"did you hear what happened to mina?"
you took a second to stop and think. usually you would've said yes but you didn't recall knowing a mina. "whos mina?"
scrunching her face up hitch lifted her hand to pat you on the back "you don't know who mina is?"
blinking you nodded your head "why would i ask who mina is if i didn't know?"
quickly raising her hands in defense she took a couple steps away from you. letting out a small laugh you walked to the other side of the hallway "so what did she do?"
looking around, hitch noticed a few people standing in the hall. rejoining you in walking she faced you "supposedly she was caught giving some kid drugs."
clicking your tongue you scrunch your nose up "she couldn't do it at the 7/11 right down the street?"
nodding in agreement hitch raised her arms "exactly! why would you do it at school if the staff already hated you?"
pulling your phone out of your pocket you checked the time. as you did you saw multiple messages. ignoring them you clicked the button on the right side of your phone watching it shut off.
the female beside you ran up to the gym doors giving you a smile "your ass better be at the football game!"
lifting your right hand you shooed the girl off "bye hitch!"
watching her enter the gym she turned around to look out the window giving you another wave.
making it to your first period classroom you walked in the room. this time nobody was there. the room was completely empty. humming you made it to your seat sitting down. looking ahead of you, you noticed the white board wasn't cleaned off. the project and its details sat up there.
you began to bounce your leg but everytime it went up something would touch it. stopping you furrowed your eyebrows taking your hand to reach under the desk. grabbing what felt like paper you pulled it off from under the desk. looking at it you were left in utter confusion.
ripping open the red envelope you saw there was nothing in there. placing it on the desk you stared at it.
you knew there was some type of meaning. you had seen it before but you just couldn't put your finger on it. leaning back you tried to think of where you've seen it, better yet who used to give it to you.
but your mind was blank. it was as if your brain refused to let you know the information, as now was not the time. it would come to you sooner or later so you waited patiently trying to think.
you were captivated by it that you failed to notice the classroom door open and someone sit down next to you. a gentle push caught you off guard as you looked beside you. the male pointed at the red envelope that sat on your side of the desk "whats that?"
sighing, you picked it up handing it to him "i'm not sure, when i opened it there was nothing in there."
taking it from your hand he turned it over shaking it as if something was going to fall out. "well that's weird"
nodding your head you took the envelope back, stuffing it into your bag.
changing the subject eren tilted his head back looking at you "so you coming to the football game tonight?"
sucking on your teeth you looked around the room. smiling you looked back at him "yeah i guess" turning to his bag he went through it getting out his notebook "you wont regret it"
dramatically sighing you looked away " i hope"

the end of the day.
it always felt refreshing to know school was over.
walking down the halls you made it in front of a classroom. stepping to the side you leaned back on the wall waiting for the class to be released. the door swung open as the students rushed out. a screech could be heard as connie walked out followed by sasha.
the girl looked over in your direction with a smile "let's go!"
connie ran over to your side "where are we going?"
pushing the male away you waved bye "nowhere you have a game to play in"
groaning connie slumped down and slowly walked away hoping you or sasha would call him back over. laughing at her friend sasha turned around to look at you "the game starts in 30 minutes"
"then why is connie just now going to the football field?"
sasha scratched her head starting to walk off "because he wanted to stay and finish his work." shaking your head, you joined sasha walking next to her. you both started to make your way to the football stadium. while walking in the hall you watched as people were running.
making it up the ramp you looked up at the bleachers. trying to find where everyone was sitting, a male suddenly popped up waving at you. smiling you nudged sasha pointing at the blonde that waved you two over.
walking up the stairs sasha followed behind you. making it up to the group of friends, they slid down to make room for you both.
sitting next to armin you looked at the field to see the boys warming up. turning to look at the male you pointed at the team "okay so who is who?"
scooting next you armin leaned by you so you could clearly hear him "okay so mikasa is number 78, connie is 17, and eren is 22." nodding, you looked around finding the numbers. you scanned around and found connie first who was doing push-ups on the ground. looking past him you saw mikasa who was stretching out her legs. trying to find the last one you looked all the way to the left.
finally finding the number twenty two you looked at eren. to your surprise he was already looking at you. smiling, you lifted your hand and gave him a small wave. before you could see his reaction sasha called your name.
leaning down you looked at her "you picked the best game to go to!"
chuckling you looked up at the other team "this is our first game"
rolling her eyes she leaned back, getting settled in between your legs. her arms rested on your thighs as her head sat against your stomach. "well it's gonna be a good game because we're playing marley."
humming you scanned the team. coming across different people you looked away in disinterest. looking down you found the cheer team with hitch right in the middle. she held up her pom poms jumping up and down. doing different routines they had practiced.
smiling, you looked away to see both teams were about to start. as each player took the field to get into position both crowds got loud. they stood up jumping and yelling. the cheer girls were down below yelling, getting students to join in on the school chants.
both bands on either side of the stadium played loudly trying to best one another.
as both teams were situated everybody waited for the first play.
it was quickly set into motion as connie threw the ball back. both teams moved out of their spots pushing each other. the players tried to hold one another back as a player caught the ball connie threw. stepping back the male looked around holding the ball trying to find who was open and the best one to give the ball too.
finding mikasa, he planted his back foot getting ready to launch the ball over to her only to be tackled to the ground. marleys side jumped up and started cheering. the band played loudly while swaying side to side.
everyone around you groaned in dissatisfaction.
the game went on as paradis and marley played a game of tug of war. each side would pull, yanking the other one down gaining a point. but that only led to the team getting back up and earning a point themselves. the scoreboard kept on shifting in points as marley and paradis chased each other.
as the timer of the second inning began to run out, paradis pulled on the rope letting marley fall. mikasa chuckled, gaining another touchdown. sighing she lifted her hands in the air letting the cheering and screaming fill her ears. running back to join her team she tossed the ball to the referee.
each team went back to their own section to get water and cool off. halftime came along as paradis band took the field getting situated. color guard was right next to them as they waited for the band to begin.
people on the bleachers got up to go to the restroom or get food.
sasha quickly jumped up grabbing her wallet. getting up with her you followed her down the stairs. walking under the bleachers the girl smiled getting her money ready "time for some bussin food"
shaking your head you pointed at the restroom "i'm gonna go to the bathroom, can you get me a water?"
sasha nodded her head giving you a thumbs up "meet me by the concession stand!"
humming you walked off to the bathroom, pushing the door open you walked in. girls stood in front of the mirrors touching up their makeup or running their hands through there hair trying to fix it. as you walked in, there heads whipped over to you.
ignoring them you went to a stall locking it behind you and went pee.
flushing the toilet you walked back out and washed your hands. getting the soap you rubbed your hands together washing them under the water. stepping to the side you grabbed a couple paper towels drying your hands off.
throwing them away in the trashcan you pushed the door open with your foot. walking out you were met with sasha. she smiled, throwing you a water bottle. catching it you opened it while taking a drink "thank you!"
eating a chip sasha muffled a yup while following you.
making it up the ramp you were stopped by a voice "y/n, sasha!"
looking down you were met with eren and connie running over. raising a brow you leaned on the fence "what?"
connie held his hand out pointing at your drink. scoffing you backed up "don't you have your own water?"
rolling his eyes he took a step forward "yeah but stealing other peoples water taste better"
sasha grabbed a chip and threw it at the male. turning to sasha you gave her an unusual look, you were surprised she wasted a chip. eren looked at connie in disgust as he picked up the chip from the ground and ate it "what the fuck connie?"
connie shrugged looking at eren "five second rule man"
gagging you shook your head "your gonna get some disease". sasha laughed looking at you "wouldn't be the first!". eren looked at sasha in disbelief and quickly stepped away from connie.
offended the buzz cut male took a step towards eren making him back up. smiling connie started to chase eren making him run off and away from him. both you and sasha laughed at the scene. waving at the two males you caught their attention "anyways you guys better win!"
eren smiled at you giving you a thumbs up.
turning around you began to walk. connie jumped up and down "if we win, do i get a prize?!"
sasha ignored connie running after you.

the last inning. both marley and paradis were tied up with each other. the timer on the scoreboard got closer to running out each second that passed. mikasa had just got the ball. the boys around her pushed and tackled each other.
looking over at eren she took a step back before throwing the ball in his direction. taking a step back eren started to run. the ball got closer to him but it was noticeable the ball was overthrown.
once the ball got close enough the male quickly jumped up stretching his right hand in the air. reaching up he grabbed the ball letting it settle into the palm of his hand. as soon as his feet hit the ground again he took off running.
students around you quickly jumped up clapping and cheering at the catch.
as eren was running, a player from marley appeared from behind him. the other side went wild begging for their player to catch eren.
each step they took the male began to gain on eren.
getting up with sasha and armin you three started to yell in hopes the male could hear you.
sasha wailed loudly "holy shit eren come on!"
the player reached his arm out trying to grab eren by his shirt. chuckling, eren took notice and quickly started to run faster. the marley player lost his footing as he fell to the ground letting eren slip away.
yelling, you and sasha laughed watching the unknown football player fall and roll to the ground.
eren made one last step and made a touchdown. right then and there the timer on the scoreboard ran out. the point difference changed as paradis won. the team yelled in victory running over to eren.
armin clapped his hands before nudging you and sasha to hurry off the bleachers before it got crowded. nodding in agreement you rushed down the steps and down the ramp making it to the ground. all three of you waited for eren, connie and mikasa.
you snickered, throwing your head back "did you see that marley guy roll on the ground!"
sasha quickly joined your laughter, having the image replay in her head. armin opened his mouth to reply but got cut off "so what do we think of my fancy play?"
turning around you watched as eren raised his hand and flipped his hair. connie rolled his eyes "i thought it was shit!"
mikasa ignored the two as she walked over to stand by you and sasha. shrugging you hummed "it was good i guess"
eren blankly stared at you "i know your lying"
shaking your head you raised your hand patting him on the shoulder "it was good, also nice to know you can actually run"
slapping your hand away eren groaned.
connie dug in his football bag looking at the male "stop being a baby!"
armin sighed at the two pulling his phone out. showing the time to everyone he suggested for everyone to get home. so just like that everyone started to walk in the direction of there car. walking next to eren you gave him a shove "nice running back there"
eren smiled giving you a shrug "thanks, i guess"
rolling your eyes you pushed the male. you looked away to see hitch waving you over. turning to face eren you began to walk away "see you tomorrow man bun!".
jogging over to the female you joined her "whats up?"
smiling, the girl brought out her keys "guess what?"
humming you shrugged your shoulders "what?"
squinting her eyes at your lack of guessing she pursed her lips. walking she waited for you to guess but it never came around. groaning, the female turned to face you "okay so i was in the office and it turns out we're getting a new student tomorrow!"
raising a brow you looked at the girl "really whats their name?"
opening her mouth to answer your question she quickly closed it. grabbing her phone she scrolled through it. stopping on something she read it out loud "her name is cora bartley"

leaning on the kitchen counter you stared at the red envelope. your mind finally released the information you searched for earlier. it hit you like a train. the name ran around in circles in your mind. it was on loop as everything started to come back to you.
the envelope was ripped open, only this time something was actually in it. it wasn't a letter nor anything in that matter. to someone else reading those two words wouldn't mean anything, but to you it did.
from the second your eyes landed on the red envelope it was a message but you just didn't get it.
there were only two words printed on the white sheet of paper.
'im back'
you read it over and over again in hope more words would show up. you knew exactly what those words meant. that would explain the smile that grew on your face. or how your hands gripped the counter in anger but you just couldn't help but laugh. you couldn't help but feel excited.
it rushed through your veins as you knew everything would get so much more interesting.
was it even possible for her to know where you went? with her being here, so much could go wrong. everything could fall apart in the wrong direction. at times like this you were a pawn in her hand, but you loved it so much. the risk made you feel sane.
the more you thought of the risks the more you were willing to play the game.
you were waiting for her to make her first move just for you to shut her down and push her into a corner. you and her were going to be playing a risky game and the stakes were so high. but it was no use as she was never a threat to you.
you both played your games differently. but it was a no brainer of who would demolish the other one.
you couldn't help but break out into a fit of laughter looking at the paper. calming down you smiled bitting your tongue "so cora, what's your first move?"
