Jay's POV
I'm woken by the sound of little footsteps running around upstairs. I get up and fold the blanket and set the pillows aside. I grab the toothbrush Val got me and headed into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and freshened up.
Once I finished, I walked out of the bathroom only to bump into Valerie. We exchanged looks but she avoided me quickly.
"Well well well, look who crashed here last night" Alex says coming down the stairs
"Was just being responsible" I say following him into the kitchen
"Mama I want waffles!" Kai says
"Me too!" Halston says
"Of course my sweat peas" Valerie smiles at them
"Are you staying for breakfast?" Alex asks
"If it's okay with Valerie" I say looking at her
"Yeah that's fine" Val says avoiding eye contact
"Come on kids, let's go outside and play while we wait for mommy to finish making breakfast" Alex says while picking up the kids and bringing them outside
Once the door closed I looked over at Valerie.
"I know what you're doing" I say
"And what exactly am I doing?" she asks
"You're avoiding me. You regret what happened last night"
"I do. And it's not gonna happen again. It was a mistake"
"To me it wasn't. And I know you think that too"
"Jay, drop it. It's never gonna happen again"
"Alright. You're right. It won't" I say grabbing my jacket
"Jay..." Val says
"I gotta go" I say before leaving
Val's POV
I know what we did last night was wrong and Jay had to understand that. It can't happen again and I won't let it happen again. I finish making breakfast and call Alex and the kids in to eat.
"Where's Jay?" Alex asks
"He left. He had some things to do" I say as I'm setting down the plates
"Oh that's too bad"
"Yeah it is. But anyways, I'm working a double today so could you watch the kids tonight?"
"Can't. I'm going out with the boys. In fact to your bar actually. Can't miss your big performance tonight" Alex says
"It's nothing special babe. But I'll have my sister come over" I say
"Mama is auntie coming?" Halston asks
"Yes she is going to come hang out with you a bit while I go to work" I say
"When can we meet daddy?" Kai asks
"Soon honey" I say
"How soon? I wanna meet this prick" Alex says while munching on his waffles
"Don't worry. He's a lot closer than you think. You've met this guy" I chuckled
"I know him?! Now I really gotta see him" Alex says
"I'm gonna go get ready. I'll be back down for the kids after" I said
I made my way upstairs and into my room. I walked into my walk in closet and looked for an outfit to wear.
I grabbed a black two piece satin set. I put it on and then added a long chain necklace. I put on my long diamond dainty earrings and diamond bracelets. I curled my hair into loose waves and pinned one side down letting the hair go to one side. I do my makeup lightly with eyeliner and neutral eyeshadow. I finished off with my eyebrows and applied some lashes.
"Mama, auntie is here!" Kai says running in
"Damn sis you look hot" my sister Lila says walking in with Halston
"Thanks. You have everything to stay the night?"
"Yes. Don't worry. The kids are in a good hands"
"I trust you. I just want to let you know that I might be home late or early tomorrow morning"
"That's okay. Do whatever you need to do. We'll be here when you get home"
I grab my bag and kissed both Halston and Kai goodbye before heading downstairs.
"Alright, I gotta go. I'll see you later?" I say hugging Alex
"Look at you sexy mama" Alex says hugging back while grabbing my ass with one hand and gently squeezing it
"I'll see you later" I say before exchanging a kiss with him
I put on my heels then grabbed the keys and headed out to work.
-5 hours later
Jay's POV
Alex hit me up and told me to meet him at a bar down the street from where he lives. Apparently he invited our other friends out as well. I'm not up for this reunion but might as well to go to get my mind off of things. I pulled up to the bar and made my way inside. I see Alex and the others over by the corner. I make my way over.
"Hey guys" I say as I sat down
"Sup man!" Alex says
"Long time no see Jay" Gavin says
"You too Gavin. How ya been?" I asked
"I've been really good. Got a stable job and family now. How about you?" Gavin asks
"Oh you know. The usual. Still in the field and got a few kids as well" I say
"Ya got kids!?! When we're you gonna tell me?" Alex says
"Soon" I chuckled
"Hey Val! Can we get a couple of shots here!" Alex hollers
I turn and look and there was Valerie over by the bar making drinks. She comes over with a tray of shots and serves us each one. She looked absolutely stunning.
"Here you are boys" Val says
"You're in for a treat Jay. She's performing tonight" Alex says before downing his shot
"What for?" I asked not breaking eye contact with Val
"Just singing a few songs that I wrote" she says
"Well I look forward to it" I say before downing my shot
"I'm sure you'll enjoy it. In fact, I hope it gets through your thick skull" Val whispers to me before walking away
I grab her wrist harshly and just look at her. She smirks and just pulls away before walking away.
"What she say?" my other friend Dean asks
"Nothing" I say taking another shot
-2 hours later-
"Can I have everybody's attention. We got a special little performance from one of our bartenders. Please show some love to our one and only, Valerie Matthews" says the manager

The lyrics really hit me in the chest. I know that I've hurt her but I didn't know how bad I hurt her until now. The whole time she's singing, she just looks at me with pain in her eyes. She was fighting back tears but I could just tell it in her voice.
"Woooo!!" Alex cheers as the song ends
