NI-KI's POV
We arrived at the lake and from afar, I see a figure standing near the bushes. Getting closer, I recognized him. He is the guy from yesternight.
"Glad you finally came, Alphas." He said smiling.
"How did you..." I failed to finish my sentence as the guy cut me off.
"Because it's in the prophecy." He answered which made me and Sunoo more confused.
"I'm Heeseung. Shall we go now? I don't want Red Salvia patrols know my existence this early. Come with me. I'll explain in our lair." Heeseung added and gestured to go.
"Wait, isn't this dangerous? We're crossing an unclaimed territory. Rogues can attack us here any moment." Sunoo hesitates, holding tighter to my arm.
"Trust me, Alpha. I'm willing to go frontline together with the whole pack if that happens." Heeseung said without looking at us.
"Pack? There is a pack living here?" I asked. I mean, this is an unclaimed territory. Does he mean a pack of rogues?
Heeseung didn't uttered anything from then. We simply followed him and led us to a cave. We went inside and parted the vines that serves as a curtain of the cave. Me and my mate were in deep shock when a beautiful scenery came infront of our faces. Where are we? Is this some kind of hidden territory? Are we in another world?
We keep walking until we reached a house. It's pretty big for a normal wolf blood family to live in. It was like a pack house.
Heeseung went inside so we followed him. I kept my mate on my back protecting him if ever some kind of attack happens. As I walk pass the lounge, the people inside starts to go on bended knee. What on earth is happening?
We reached a room that seems to be a hall. There are few people inside but one caught my attention. It was the rogue I chase the other day.
"Ni-ki, isn't he..." I looked at my mate and yes, we saw the same thing.
"Alpha, meet the Protectors. That one over there is Jake. I'm guessing you recognize him. Sorry if he gave you a scare the other day. Beside him is Yeonjun, then Soobin his mate. On the left side is Beomgyu and that one is his mate, Taehyun. This one beside me is Kai, my mate. For now, I'll just answer the questions running through your head. But before that, Alphas, can you take a seat and listen to a story?" Since me and my mate are both clueless, we just nodded and obeyed Heeseung's request. We took a seat and payed attention to Heeseung in the front.
SUNOO's POV
"Long ago, there was this pack established by a strong and pure blooded Alpha. The strongest pack ever made in the wolf blood history. Time passed and passed until more human became mates with wolf bloods but this pack's Alphas always been pure blooded. Then comes the 15th Alpha to rule this pack. He doesn't really cared if his mate will be human or a wolf. He is the best Alpha ever lived in the history of this pack. He had a twin brother. But because of his kind heart and great sense of leadership, he was chosen to lead the pack instead of his twin." Heeseung started. Why do I find this story very familiar? I think I already heard it somewhere.
"One day, a beautiful maiden was seen on their territory. She was lying on the ground unconcious and the patrols called the Alpha to know what will they gonna do. So the Alpha came and to his surprise, it's his mate. He quickly ordered the pack warriors to call the pack doctor and gave her first aid. Unfortunately, the woman lost her memories. But she was told that she is the Alpha's mate. The woman basically thought that she was a human because she can't shift at all. But nonetheless, she accepted the Alpha and she was declared as the pack's Luna. But what didn't they know is that the woman is actually the..."
"Moon Goddess!" I cut Heeseung. Now I remember. This story was told to every pup in the wolf world for the past 2 decades. Ni-ki looked at me being the only one who was not familiar with the story.
"But why are you telling this? What do my mate has to do with this?" I asked Heeseung.
"So the Moon Goddess conceived the child of the Alpha. But after the pup was born, she had to go back to where she came from to maintain peace and harmony in the wolf world. Right after the Luna–the Moon Goddess left, the Alpha's twin brother killed him and everyone in his side. He even ordered to kill the newborn pup. But the pack warrior that has been ordered by the Alpha's twin to kill the pup was pleaded by the Moon Goddess. She begged for her pup to live and the Moon Goddess promised to give this pack warrior's generation a good fortune. He did spare the pup and took it to the next most powerful pack. The pack where the pup came from is called...." Heeseung finished and let Ni-ki process the information.
"Crystal Moon Pack." I whispered. Ni-ki somehow heard it still.
"Ni-ki, the ring. It's an heirloom ring. It's the heirloom ring of the Crystal Moon Pack. The strongest and oldest pack there is. And it's with you when you came to Red Salvia Pack. Ni-ki you were the pup in the legends." I added and he widen his eyes.
"Does that mean that my dad is..." Ni-ki hesitantly tried to ask Heeseung with teary eyes.
"Dead. Sorry Alpha Riki. We couldn't do anything about it. We, the second generation Protectors were all young that time that we couldn't do anything." Heeseung answered and he bowed as well as the others. I engulfed Ni-ki in a warm embrace.
"So you were all from Crystal Moon Pack too?" I asked as I comfort my crying mate.
"The pack warrior who spared Alpha Riki's life was actually my father. He regret joining forces to the Alpha's twin brother and left the pack at his own will along with all the other pack members who can't bare the mean ruling of the new self-proclaimed Alpha. With the Moon Goddess' gratitude, she fulfilled her promise that his bloodlines will have a good fortune so here we are, having more than enough of what we need to survive. My father also started a group of wolves who will stand as the Protectors of the rightful heir and so, we, the second generation Protectors are continuing to run the group." Heeseung said as I looked to Jake who nodded.
"Is that why I've been sensing rogues these past years everytime I go to that lake or in any edge of the territory?" Ni-ki asked as he's finally sobber. However, the tears hasn't stop streaming down his face.
"Yes, Alpha. And that also explains why Red Salvia has been peaceful since you came. Haven't you realized? There is no single rogue attacks happened this past 2 decades. We've been blocking rogues from the edges to prevent the true heir from hurting. Nonetheless, we can't do anything to stop that pesky Beta from beating you up. We felt useless in that part." Jake looked down but what he said made my eyes widen.
"YOU WERE GETTING BEATEN?!" I jolted from my seat. Who's that bitch who layed hands on my mate?! I swear I'll skin them alive and eat them as my meal with cinnamon on top. No one's allowed to lay a finger on my mate. I felt Soomin rages wanting to go out of the surface but I'm holding up. Then I feel Ni-ki pulling me closer giving me a tight hug. I burried my face on his neck and breathe his scent. Slowly I'm being calmed. When he felt that I'm fully calmed, he broke the hug and cupped my face.
"I'm okay, Pie. Besides I have powers, remember? I can heal myself faster than ordinary wolves." He said assuringly. Even if he can heal himself faster, it doesn't change the fact that he was getting hurt.
"Whatever." I said but avoided Ni-ki's eyes. I won't lay a finger on that rascall but that doesn't mean I would let this slip. That bitch will be punished. Wait till I got home.
"One more thing, you said about some kind of prophecy earlier. What was that all about?" I returned my gaze to Heeseung who is now giggling so I raised a brow at him.
"Sorry. You are indeed the heir of the Red Salvia Pack. I thought I made you forget what slip through my mouth earlier but I was the one to forgot that Red Salvia Pack's heir has a sharp memory." He said as he stops laughing. My mate looked at me with an amazed gaze.
"There is this prophecy written in the book called 'Canis Lupus: Morte et Tributa', that a descendant of a powerful goddess will be born and will make unity between the strongest wolf packs and is destined to be mated to the heir of the strongest pack next to his; Together they will lead the most powerful pack in the wolf blood history bringing peace and harmony thus their names will be remembered through time." Heeseung said which made us shiver. There is a prophecy like that? It sounds like a heavy burden to carry. I am not even crowned yet. How can we even lead the strongest packs?
"You're joking right?" I retorted. It sounds way too good to be true. And unbelievable.
"Sorry to say, Alpha, but I am not. You two has a big role to fill. But don't worry. We, the Protectors, and the other pack members is willing to lend a hand." Heeseung smiles. Just then, someone entered the hall.
"Sorry I'm late, Alphas. Nice to meet you two. I'm Jay. Your kingdom's sorcerer." He said. WHAT?! SORCERER? KINGDOM?!
"Ah, yes. Alpha Riki, Alpha Sunoo, he is the son of the last sorcerer of Crystal Moon Pack. He also left when his father died in that war. Now, he's helping us like how his father served your father in all loyalty. And yes, you heard it right. Crystal Moon Pack's pack house is basically a Castle, which we got used to call it a 'Kingdom' through time." Heeseung added as we shook hands with Jay. He looks young though. Probably the same age with Jake.
