Athena's POV
"I don't get why we're making chili, everyone makes chili" I tell mum.
"It's an old family recipe" she reminds me. "When I die, you can make whatever you want for pot luck" she tells me.
"I hope that won't be for many years mum" I tell her smiling. She smiles back and I look at the time cursing. "I have to meet Caroline and Bonnie. We're going to Elena's, will you be fine?" I ask her.
"I got it from here" she assures me. I kiss her cheek before leaving. I ride on my back to Elena's. To see Caroline arrive with Bonnie. I hug Bonnie tightly and she returns it. We all go to the front door and I knock. Elena answers it.
"We come bearing gifts" Care tells her holding a pot of food.
"Please say that's not chili" Elena pleads. But Care and I step aside to reveal Bonnie. "Bonnie!" she squeals and hugs her tightly.
"I leave town for the summer and everything goes to hell for the three of you" Bonnie states once they pull away. I share a look with Care and Elena. As Jeremy enters the room.
"Bonnie!" he shouts happily.
"Jeremy" she says smiling brightly. She rushes over to him and they kiss and embrace each other. Afterwards us girls go to the kitchen to help Elena put her chili into a serving pot. "The problem with my dad's normal side of the family is normal made for a really boring summer" she tells us.
"After the last few days, I would kill for a normal family" Care tells her.
"Not me, though I wish there was less drama in our lives" I tell them.
"Since when did you learn how to cook?" Care asks Elena as she helps her put the chili into a serving pot.
"Damon helped a little" Elena tells us.
"Damon can cook?" I ask her surprised.
"Damon's helping you cook now?" Bonnie asks.
"All of you stop judging. He's just trying to be a good...ow!" Elena exclaims.
"Ahh! Did I splash you?" Care asks putting the pot of chili down.
"No, no, my necklace" Elena tells us. She pulls the pendant of the necklace off her skin. Her skin has a burn mark where the pendant touched her skin. "It burned me" she states.
"That's not normal" I tell her. She removes the necklace and holds it by the chain.
"Maybe it's a sign you shouldn't be wearing it" Care tells her.
"Caroline..." Bonnie and I say.
"What, I'm just saying. If you're going to be cooking without Stefan" Care says.
"Let me see it" Bonnie tells Elena. She holds it out while Bonnie looks at the pendant. Bonnie looks at the necklace and touches it but there's a zap and sparks fly out of it. Elena drops it. Bonnie and Elena look at each other. Elena seems shocked.
"What now?" I ask them.
"I'll go get my grimoire and meet you all at your house" Bonnie states.
"We'll be there" Elena assures her. Bonnie left. Care and I helped Elena finish putting her chili into the serving pot. We then went to my house. I left them alone going to drop off Elena and Care's dishes for the pot luck. When I reached the table I see the Fell's had also done chili and sigh. I place Elena's by my families chili and put her name plate down. I put Care's creamy potatoes by hers.
I go join the others to see Bonnie had arrived. The necklace was floating in front of her. "Bonnie, we're in public" I tell her in a whisper.
"I'm not doing anything. It has its own magic" she states. It stops levitating. "I have to look through more grimoires about this. Can I borrow the necklace Elena?" she asks. Elena nods her head and Bonnie left with it.
"Did Stefan ever tell you where he got the necklace?" Care asks Elena.
"No. And I never asked. Hopefully Bonnie will be able to figure it out" Elena states.
"I'm sure she will" I assure her. Alaric joins us.
"Please tell me it's time to go" he pleads.
"Beyond. Where's Damon?" Elena asks him.
"Probably off somewhere doing bad things to good people" Care states. Elena gives her a look. "Consider me the honesty police" she tells her. She suddenly looks upset.
"What is it?" Elena and I ask her concerned.
"What's the matter?" Alaric asks.
"It's my dad" Care states. We turn around and see Bill in the adjoining room. I suppress a growl, didn't Damon compel him to leave town?
"Why would he even show up here?" Elena asks us confused.
"I don't know. But I can't..." Care tells us.
"I get it. I'll call you later" Elena tells her and I nod my head in agreement. Glaring at Bill. Alaric asks what that was all about and Elena tells him as we go outside. Damon joins us and tells us that Bill is impervious to compulsion.
"How?" Alaric and I ask him.
"I have no idea. But he threatened to out me. Don't get me started on the irony of that" Damon tells us.
"What did you do to him? How do you know the compulsion doesn't work?" Elena asks him.
"That's not the most important piece of information I mentioned, Elena" he tells her.
"What does he want?" Alaric asks him.
"He wants to control the council. Says it's been compromised" Damon states.
"It has" Alaric reminds him.
"That's besides the point" I tell him.
"He wants to put vervain in the town's water supply" Damon tells us.
"Maybe it's not a bad idea. I mean, it'll help you keep yourself in control now that Stefan's not here to..." Elena stops speaking.
"To what? To keep me in check? Make me behave? I should have killed him this morning" Damon states.
"Agreed" I tell him.
"He's Caroline's dad Athena, Damon" Elena reminds us.
"A guy who tortures his own daughter, is not a father in my eyes" I tell her.
"Yeah, and when I kill him, she'll have one more parent than we do like Athena" Damon adds.
"Oh, come on, Damon" Alaric tells him.
"You're repeatedly killing my buzz today, Ric. Step aside" Damon tells him.
"Yeah, it's not going to happen" Alaric tells him. Damon looks a his ring.
"Your temporary funeral" he tells Alaric. Before snapping his neck.
"Damon, no! What is wrong with you?!" Elena demands. We look at her and leave.
"You with me wolf girl?" Damon asks me.
"Sure am" I tell him smirking. We find Bill in my dead father's office pouring himself a scotch. "Your not welcome here" I tell him.
"Is that scotch? I figured you for an abstainer" Damon states.
"Everything in moderation. Keeps the mind clear from...influence" Bill states.
"Like vampire compulsion" Damon says.
"Yeah, I tried to tell you..." Bill tries to say.
"Yeah, yeah, powerful tool. Got it. I'm impressed. Can't say I've ever seen that before" Damon tells him.
"Well, it takes a certain human focus. It's a skill that I've been honing for decades. Plus, your technique...Is a little lazy" Bill tells him.
"Duly noted" Damon tells him. "I'm curious. Why not just expose us to the council?" he asks him.
"I know you think I'm the bad guy here, Damon, but I would never expose my own daughter to those morons" Bill states.
"Don't you dare, you have not right to call her your daughter after what you did" I snap growling.
"It's a pretty risky move, taking us on, don't you think?" Damon asks him.
"I knew what I was risking when I didn't leave town, but I figured. You're not self-destructive enough to kill the sheriff's ex-husband. Also Athena could never kill anyone" Bill states.
"I'm going to love proving you wrong" I sneer.
"Makes you the third person to underestimate me today" Damon tells him. He rushes over to him, bites him and drinks his blood. He lets him go and I kick him hard in the gut. He falls to the ground groaning in pain. "Whoo! You know, with all this behavioral modification going on around here, I almost forgot how good blood tastes when it's...Fresh" he tells him flashing his vampire eyes.
"What are you going to do? Kill everybody who discovers your secret?" Bill asks us.
"Everyone who threatens to well being of my friends and family" I tell him.
"No, I'm not going to kill you, Bill. I'm just going to find pleasure in perfect little moments like this" Damon tells him. I pout, though he does deserve to suffer for a while before we kill him. He bites him again but Caroline rushes in, throws him against the wall, and then throws him through the window. The she rushes over to Bill.
"Daddy! Are you okay?" she asks him concerned.
"Caroline, don't you remember what this sick bastard did to you?" I demand.
"It's my decision what happens to him. Not yours or Damon's" she tells him.
"Fine, but if he stays in town I make no promises of him staying alive" I sneer and left the room. I go for a run to blow off steam. I don't get why Caroline would save him. Had he been my father, I wouldn't of saved him. Guess it proves she's a better person then me. I returned home and showered calling it a night.
