Genevieve’s P.O.V
It was now the next morning and I soon began to wake up and had soon gotten ready for the day since the students would be coming later today and by the time I had finished getting ready for the day I headed to find Aunt Minerva until I noticed that she was still in her room as she had just finished getting ready herself, “Good Morning Auntie” I said as I took a step in the room, “Good Morning dear, how did you sleep” she answered, “I slept well, how about you” I said to her as she turned away from the Mirror, “I slept well myself thank you and Breakfast will be in the Great Hall this morning” she told me and I nodded as we both headed to the Great Hall together to see that some of the teachers were already there as they sat at the High Table and ate and we had done the same as we talked with the other teachers that we sat next to at the table until Breakfast was over and everyone went to their classrooms to get everything ready for the next day and just before anyone could leave the table Professor Dumbledore had spoken up, “Good Morning ladies and gentlemen I hope that you have all slept well last night but I must inform you all about something. There will be Aurors keeping guard at every entrance and that some will search the students for when they arrive at the front gate due to Lord Voldemort returning and to make sure of their safety. Now if you may and do as you planned for the day” Dumdeldore said before he walked out of the Great Hall and so did everyone else not long after and just before I had walked off myself Hagrid had walked up beside me, “hey there Genevieve, would you mind if you help me feed and take tend to some of the Creatures that I have” he asked and I smiled, “I will be delighted” I said and I followed him to where he kept them and helped feed them and bath some of them until we had finally finished, “why thank you Genevieve that went quicker than normal. I appreciate the help I really do and I’m sure that meself won’t be the only one either” he said with a chuckle, “well I’m glad that I could help” I said to him, “well, that’s all I need help with for now though. I hope you enjoy your position here and I’ll see you around” he said and we both waved goodbye to each other before I headed back to the Castle.
After getting back to the Castle to see a few teachers rushing around every so often as I walked around as I waited to see if any of them needed my help until Professor Sprout came up to me, “good afternoon dear, would you mind helping me with some planting in the GreenHouse” she asked and I quickly nodded, “yes of course” I said and I followed her to the GreenHouse and helped her plant some Puffapod plants for most of the time before moving on with planting some Wormwood until they had finally finished, “thank you dear, I really appreciate your help. I’m glad we got some to be honest” she said and I smiled, “well I’m glad to help Miss. Sprout, Herbology was one of my favorite classes to be honest” I said as I looked around the GreenHouse with a smile on my face, “yes I remember, both you and Neville Longbottom were my top students and Neville may continue to be as well if he keeps it up” she said and I chuckled, “ya he would always talk about it sometimes to” as I remembered some conversations I had with Neville, “well, I can probably take care of the rest from here dear you head back incase anybody else needs you” she said and we said our goodbyes for now and I had headed back to the Castle to see that the day was almost over. After walking through the doors of the School, I was stopped by Hagrid as he smiled, “Hello again Genevieve, would you mind coming with to the train station” he asked and I agreed to go with him, “ya sure” I said and I followed him along with his dog to the small station and we hadn’t waited long for the train to finally arrive as I played a little with the dog Hagrid had, “Boarhound Fang really likes you” Hagrid said as he glanced at me and I smiled before we saw the students walk off the train and made their way to the school but when everyone had gotten off, I felt like something was off since I hadn’t seen Harry or Luna yet, “I’ll be right back Hagrid, you go on ahead” I told him as I walked on the train, “alright then, be careful on your way back then” he told me just before I got on to look for them.
After a few minutes, I saw Luna with Harry as I saw that he had a bloody nose, “the Bloody hell happened to you” I asked as they soon turned to face me, “Genny, what are you doing here, I thought you left with Fred and George” Harry said as we walked off the train, “I did, but Aunt Minerva offered me a job here so I decided to take it up and now I’m and assistant pretty much for any teacher that needs help” I told them, “that nice and to answer your question, Malfoy” he said and I winced, “my god, I honestly don’t know why you both hate each other so much besides the two of you pretty much wanting to kill each other every time you look at each other” I said and we laughed a little as we walked to the gate, “so how was your summers you guys” I asked changing the subject after giving Harry a napkin for his nose, “it was rather nice” Luna said softly before Harry spoke up, “it was alright and sorry I made you miss the carriage by the way Luna” he said as we made it to the gate, “that’s alright, it’s like being with a friend” she said “oh well I am your friend Luna” Harry said, “that’s nice” she answered back before Professor Flitwick turned to face us, “about time, I’ve been looking all over for you two, alright names” he asked and Harry looked confuse, “Professor Flitwick, you’ve known me for Five years” he said to him, “no exceptions Potter” Flitwick said before Luna spoke up, “who are those people” she asked pointing at them, “Aurors, for security” he answered before walking away to close the gate until I noticed the two of them looking at something and saw that they were watching Draco with Mr. Filch and Draco argued with him until Snape came up to them and soon saw us watching, “Nice face Potter” he said before walking away with Snape following not far behind, “would you like me to fix it for you, Personally I think you look a bit more, devil may care this way but, it’s up to you” Luna asked taking out her wand, “she’s not wrong, you kinda do” I said before Harry spoke up, “um, well have you ever fixed a nose before” he asked her, “no, but I’ve done several toes and how different are they really” she said to him and he gave me the rag that I gave him for his nose before he spoke up, “ok, ya give it a go” he said and Luna raised her wand, “apiscky” she said and soon heard a snap and I winced a little when Harry groaned in pain from it, “you alright Harry” I asked and he nodded, “ya and how do I look” he asked Luna, “exceptionally ordinary” she answered, “Brilliant” he said before looking at me, “you look fine, minus the blood on your nose” I said as I gave him a clean rag before we soon headed to the Castle and when we did, both Luna and Harry had gone to get changed and I had gone to the Great Hall to see that Aunt Minerva was just finishing up with the Sorting Ceremony and I soon walked up to the High Table and sat next to Aunt Minerva as we talked and ate before Professor Dumbledore had walked up to the podium, “very best of evenings to you all, first off let me introduce the two newest members of our staff, Horace Slughorn. Professor Slughorn, I'm happy to say is agreed to resume is old post as Potions Master” he said as he stood up for s short time before sitting down and Dumbledore spoke up again, “Some of you might have already know her as Miss Genevieve McGonagall, who will be an Assistant to any of the Teacher's or other staff members that might need the extra help” he said and I stood up and everyone, mostly from the Gryffindor table, had clapped and cheered before I sat down again and Dumbledore continued to speak, “meanwhile, the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts will be taken by Professor Snape” he said soon after to hear only a few people including the Slytherin table clapped for him, “as you know each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight and you have the right to know why, once there was a young man who like you sat in this very Hall, walked this Castle’s corridors, stepped under its roof. He seemed to owe the world a student like any other, his name, Tom Riddle. Today of course he’s known all over the world by another name, which is why as I stand here looking out upon you all here tonight, I’m reminded by a sobering fact everyday, every hour, this very minute perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this Castle’s walls, But in the end their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about. Now off to bed pip pip” he said to everyone and they all began to get up from where they were sitting and leave the Great Halls and to their Common rooms for the rest of the night.
By the time I was about to head back room for the night until Aunt Minerva walked up beside me, “how are you dear, I noticed that you have come late for dinner earlier” she mentioned to me and I nodded, “ya, I was with Hagrid when the train arrived and when all of the students had gotten off the train, I had noticed that Harry nor Luna hadn’t gotten off so I told Hagrid to go ahead as I looked on the train to see Harry with a bloody nose and that Luna was also with him and I was going to ask him about how it happened but I was more worried about getting them back then the nose” I told her as we walked down the hall to my room, “well I’m glad you stayed with them then leave the train with Hagrid to make sure they were alright” she said and I just nodded and we walked into my room and we both had a cup of tea together until she mentioned Remus Proposing, “so dear, how did he Propose” she said with a smile and I chuckled, “well we were both in bed that morning and he just blurted it out and later gave me the ring you mentioned that was moms, so not much had happened in that situation but I didn’t really care whether or not it was fancy or anything about how he had done it to be honest” I told her with a smile as I thought about it with a smile on my face, “well I’m glad to see that you are happy dear” she said with a smile as we hugged for a while until she moved back, “you have grown up into a beautiful young woman and you also look so much like your father” she said as we both smiled at each other, “now, we should get to bed since we have an early start tomorrow” she said as she walked towards the door, “alright then, goodnight Auntie” I said, “goodnight der and sleep well” she said before she walked out and closed the door and smiled to myself as I got ready for the night before getting into bed and began to read a book until I began to feel tired and soon fell asleep after putting the book away.
It was now the next morning and after getting ready, both Professor Slughorn and I bumped into each other, “oh Professor Slughorn, sorry about that, I didn’t see you coming” I said and we both chuckled a little, “oh that’s no problem dear, I was looking for you anyways because I need your help with something” he said and I smiled, “what is it that you need help sir” I asked as I followed him to his class, “I need help preparing a few concoctions for my first class this morning if that's alright with you” he asked and I agreed, “I will be glad to help sir” I said as we made it to his classroom, “alright so if you don’t mind making Amortentia for me that would be great” he asked and I looked for a book that had the potions Ingredients and when I did I went right into making it and as he had done the same thing with a few other potions. After about half an hour had gone by, I had finished making the Amortentia Potion as I let out a heavy sigh, “I’m finished Professor” I said to him to see him turn around and walk up to me, “well done Genevieve, it is perfect and please call me Horace since we are now coworkers” he said checking the potion I had done for him, “ thank you Horace” I said and we soon left the room to later arrive at the Great Hall for Breakfast before classes started and the both of us talked for a bit as we got to know one another, “dumbledore said you worked here before, what happened” I asked him as I took a drink, “oh that, I retired so it was nothing serious really” he said and we soon left as he had gone back to his class before lessons started and I soon found Aunt Minerva standing in the Middle of the Hallway making sure everyone got to their classes, “hey Auntie, how's it going” I said loud enough for her to hear, “I’m good dear how are you, how is your first day going so far” she asked and I smiled, “it’s going pretty well, I got to know Professor Slughorn a little better earlier after helping him” I told her and she smiled, “that’s nice to hear dear, I’m glad you’re enjoying this” she said before calling Harry, “Potter” she said and he soon noticed and looked our way before coming over, “enjoying yourselves are we” she said and I chuckled a little, “hey Genny. I had a free period this morning, Professor” he told her, “so I’ve noticed. I would think you would want to fill it with Potions, or is it no longer your ambition to become an Auror” she told Harry, “It was, but I was told that I had to get an outstanding in my O.W.L’s” he said questioning, “and so you did. When Professor Snape was teaching Potions, however Professor Slughorn is perfectly happy to accept N.E.W.T students with exceeds expectations” Aunt Minerva informed him, “she’s not wrong, I think he would be glad to have you in his class” I mentioned to him, “Brilliant um, well I’ll head there straight away” he said, “good good. Potter, take Weasley with you he seems far too happy out there and Genevieve will be going with you to make sure you both get there” she told him before he walked away and I went with him, “Come on Ronald, you and Harry are going to Potions” I said and he sighed, “your joking” he said as he jumped down from the ledge he was on, “nope, Aunt’s orders now stop complaining” I said with a chuckle. As we walked down an empty Hallway as Ron kept complaining about having to go to potions, “but I don’t want to go to potions. There’s Quidditch Trials coming up, I need to Practice” he said to us, “well there’s not much either of us can do about it Ron at the moment” I told him, “she’s right about that one, she may work here now but she can’t exactly do anything otherwise she would have” Harry said to Ron before we made it to the room and I knocked on the door as Horace turned to see us, “ah, Harry my boy I was beginning to worry, you’ve brought someone with us I see and nice to see you again Miss. Genevieve” he said and I waved, “Ron Weasely sir, but I’m dead awful at Potions, a menace actually so I’ll probably just go” he said and both Harry and I stopped him, “nope you are staying” I said as I patted his back, “Bloody hell, I can see why Fred and George are scared of you sometimes” he whispered and a few others laughed as they must of heard what he said and I laughed along also, “Nonsense we’ll sort you out, any friend of Harry and Genevieve’s is a friend of mine get your books out” he said turning back around, “sorry sir but I don’t actually got my book yet and nor does Ron” Harry told him, “not to worry, you can get one from the cupboard” he told Harry and the both of them went over to the cupboard and just before I was about to leave the room, Professor Slucghorn called my name, “Miss Genevieve, before you go would you mind if I use you for an example in a moment” he asked and I nodded, “ya sure” I said as I walked up next to him, “Now as I was saying, I’ve made some concoctions with the help of Miss, Genevieve here this morning, any Idea what these might be” he said and Hermione quickly raise her hand, “yes miss” he began to say before she finished it for him, “Granger sir” she said as she walked up, “that one there is veritaserum, it’s a truth telling serum” she began to say as she explained what the others were as well, “and this is Amortentia, the most powerful Love potion in the world. It’s rumored to smell differently to each person according to what attracts them, for example I smell freshly mown grass, Parchment and spearmint toothpaste” she said before walking back, “and Genevieve, would you give another example for us please” he asked and I stepped forward toward the small cauldron, “I smell Parchment, damp forest and Chocolate” I said before walking back as well, “thank you Miss Genevieve for giving us another example, you may leave” he said and I soon left after waving to Hermione and the others before walking out the door.
Later that day and everyone was now in their second class of the day and I was walking around the hallways mainly making sure that everyone was doing what they were doing until Aunt Minerva came up to me, “ah there you are Genevieve, Professor Snape needs your help for a demonstration for his class of First years” she told me and I nodded, “alright, I’ll head there now then” I said and went right to Professor Snape's class and by the time I got there I knocked on the door before he looked at me, “Aunt Minerva said you needed me” I said and he nodded, “yes, I want you to help me with a demonstration, now could you please stand here if you will” he said and I stood where he wanted me and did what we should during a duel as we bowed before walking to either end of the platform, “expelliarmus” I shouted before he could say a spell himself as he flew and landed on his back, “well done Miss. Genevieve. Now what was it that I wasn’t quick enough to do” he said and a few kids raised their hand and he soon chose a kid from Ravenclaw to answer, “you didn’t protect yourself from the spell sir” she said, “correct and what spells can I use to do that” he asked before choosing another kid from Hufflepuff, “you can use a shield Charm sir” he answered, “correct that can be one of them, now we will show you another example using the Shield Charm” he said as he nodded to me, “Expelliarmus” I said as Snape used the Charm to shield himself from the attack, “now do you see the difference, Now I want you all to try and do the same thing as you all will be in partners for this task and please thank Miss. Genevieve for her participation” he said and they all said thank you and I smiled, “no problem you guys, and all of you go easy on Professor Snape here alright” I said to them before laughing a little before leaving the room and just spending the rest of the day waiting to see if anyone else needed help. Later that night I was one of the people who was asked to patrol the halls until I noticed Draco walking about and I was Curious as to where he was going as I decided to keep my distance for now to see where he was going until I saw him standing in front of the Room of Requirement and I decided to wait for when he comes back out. After waiting for a while, I began to hear footsteps and soon looked to see that it was Draco again and let him walked past until I decided to call his name, “Malfoy, is everything alright, why are you out after Curfew if you don’t mind me asking” I said as he stopped walking, “it’s none of your business and since when did you care about how I’m doing” he said harshly, “well sorry for asking then and caring about how you’re doing considering us hating each other over the years, maybe you should try it sometime” I told him and he just stared at me, “now I’m going to ask again, what were you doing and is everything alright” I asked again, “I needed to take a walk to clear my head” he answered not saying why he was in the Room of Requirement, “then why were you in the Room of Requirement, there’s nothing in there but junk” I asked him, “like I said, none of your business” he said clearly not wanting to say why, “fine, go back to your Dorm” I said as he soon walked away and I walked a distance behind him to make sure that he does and when he did, I just kept doing my Patrol until it was time for me to head back to my Quarters for the night and when I did, all I could think about was Remus and how he was doing until I finally fell asleep later that night.
