Chapter 11
IT HAS BEEN TWO DAYS SINCE IT HAPPENED, Y/N was still unconcious as she had another relapse. However, Mikey never left her side.
"Manjiro, you need to eat...", Mizaki cooed him. Mikey only looked at her and accepted the instant ramen she gave him.
"...I'll just go home and pick some clothes...", Mizaki muttered. "..are you fine to watch her while I'm out?"
He pursed his lips and nodded.
He started to eat the ramen from the older L/N as his gaze stayed on the unconcious girl in front of him.
When he caught how her eyes fluttered, he immediately brought down the ramen and stood to check on her.
When her eyes gently fluttered open, the first thing she saw was her boyfriend's dark ones, whom carries worry, sorrow, and something she can't describe.
Her heart was immediately filled with guilt, knowing that she's the reason why he was in distress.
"...I'm sorry...", she whispered, her voice barely audible due to extreme exhaustion.
"There's nothing to apologize about, love..", he croaked.
She smiled in a bit. She held up her hand, and Mikey helped to reach his cheek.
"..do you regret being my boyfriend, Mikey..?", Y/N felt her own heart crumpling.
"No.", Mikey looked at her. "How about you, Y/N. Do you regret it?"
"...I-I do...", he felt his heart shatter on her answer. She smiled despite her tears uncontrollably streaming down her face. "...I do regret invading your life and leave afterwards..."
"...I regret that I couldn't love you any longer...", she said. "Mikey..?"
The latter hummed in response.
"Thank you for the short time we spent together... It is my treasure, it is precious to me...", she catched her breath. "Once I die... you're free, Mikey. I want you to chase your own happiness from then..."
"Don't say that...", Mikey argued.
"Let's be real here, Sano. I know I can't hold any much longer...", her smile was bitter-sweet. "But please do know that I love you so much... If our paths ever crossed again in another life, please let me be your girl again..."
"...I-I...", Mikey looked away from her, trying so hard to stop his tears from falling. "...I promise..."
She smiled and caressed his cheek. "And Mikey?"
"Hm?"
"Wake up every sunrise for me."

MIKEY CURLED UP ON HIS ROOM'S WALL, after Mizaki came back, she convinced him to go home.
He was about to argue when Y/N gave him a tired smile of assurance.
His phone lit up, messages popped on the screen.
Mizaki:
Mikey.
She's gone.
Two messages from Mizaki was all it took to break him.
She's gone.
She's never coming back.
She had finally took her last breath, without him in her side.
That day, L/N Y/N passed away.
He never got to say goodbye.
Nor express how he love her one last time.
He never saw her struggle to keep her eyes open.
As his last memory of her was her genuine smile.
