Y/n's POV
The following morning we met in the meeting room and Tony brought up some images on the screens and we gathered around to begin planning the time heist.
"Okay, so the how works. Now we gotta figure out the when and the where." Steve told us, standing in front of the screens. The screens displayed images of the stones in their original forms, for example the tesseract or the orb from space. Steve looked at us all, determination written all over his face.
"Almost everyone in this room has had an encounter with at least one of the six infinity stones." Steve told us.
"Or substitute the word 'encounter' for damn near been killed by one of the six infintiy stones." Tony raised his hands, looking at us all with a mischievous smile. I looked over at Nat, she had put on a jumper and quickly put her hair out of the way of her face in order to focus more.
"Well I haven't." Scott and I said in unison.
"Not unless you count the actual gauntlet." I added.
"But I don't even know what the hell you're all talking about." Scott frowned.
"Regardless, we only have enough pym particles for one round trip each. And these stones have been in a lot of different places throughout history." Bruce explained, wandering around the room.
"Our history." Replied Tony. "So, not a lot of convenient spots to just drop in, yeah?"
"Which means we have to pick our targets." Clint sighed.
"Correct." Tony pointed at him.
"So, let's start with the Aether." Steve looked to Thor. He was slouched in the corner, sunglasses on, hand resting in the waistband of his joggers as he drank his beer. "Thor, what do you know?"
"Is he asleep?" Nat asked, clicking her pen. She had a leg resting on the table and her other hand resting on my thighs.
"No.no. I'm pretty sure he's dead." Rhodes sighed.
I threw a ball of paper at him. "I'm awake!" He groaned, getting up from his chair and hobbling over to the screens. The screen changed to focus on the reality stone. Thor took off his sunglasses to see it better.
"Uh, where to start? Um..." He tapped the screen with his glasses. "The Aether, firstly, it's not a stone. Someone called it a stone before." He pointed at steve. "Um, it's more of an angry sludge sort of thing. So someone's going to need to amend that and stop staying that. Here's an interesting story though, about the Aether. My grandfather, many years ago, had to hide the stone from the dark elves." He groaned.
"Didn't he say it wasn't a stone." I whispered to Rhodey and he nodded.
"Oooo. Scary beings." Thor continued with a giggle, he was tipsy on his several cans of beer. "So, Jane, actually... oh actually." He pointed at the picture of Jane that appeared on the screen. "There she is. Yeah, so Jane was an old flame of mine. You know she stuck her hand inside a rock one time and the Aether stuck itself inside her... and she became very, very, sick. And so I had to take her to Asgard, which is where I'm from, and we had to try and fix her. We were dating at the time you see and I got to introduce her to my mother." Thor excitedly told his story all the while Scott looked on excitedly whilst the rest of us frowned at his rabbles. His voice changed at the mention of his mother. "Who's dead no and um-" He sighed. "Oh, you know, Jane and I aren't even dating anymore, so.."
Bruce waved his hand across his neck, signalling for Thor to stop. "Yes, these things happen though. You know?" Thor continued. "Nothing lasts forever. The only thing that-"
"Why don't you come sit down." Tony tried to guide our friend back to his seat.
"I'm not done yet!" Thor exclaimed. "The only thing that is permanent in life is impermanence." He laughed.
"Awesome. Eggs? Breakfast?" Tony clapped.
"No. I'd like a blood Mary." Thor chuckled.
"Alright big fella take a seat." Rocket jumped up on the table and Thor wobbled back to his seat still giggling to himself. The doorbell rang and Steve went to go and get the chinese Scott had ordered for our lunch. Friday told Harriet, who was playing next door, to come and join us for lunch so she sat on Clint's lap to eat her food.
I had forgotten, Clint didn't know about Harriet because he had gone M.I.A before we adopted her. He didn't seem surprised and acted as if he had always known of her existence. She took to him quite quickly, automatically calling him uncle Clint. She knew who Sam and Bucky and Wanda were. We had always shown her pictures in the slight hope that one day our family would be reunited.
Once we had eaten lunch we spread out across the room. Nat and I took residence on the sofa whilst the others lounged around the room.
"So. The power stone." Rocket began. "Quill said he stole the power stone from Morag.
"Is that a person? Bruce asked.
"No, Morag's a planet." Rocket snapped back. "Quill was a person."
"Like a planet? Like in outer space?" Scott asked excitedly.
"Oh, look. It's like a little puppy all happy and everything." Rocket rubbed Scott's hair. "Do you wanna go to space? You wanna go to space, puppy?" He joked. "I'll take you to space."
"Anyway! So we have an inclination where the power stone and the reality stone may be. Soul stone?"
Nebula nodded. "Thanos found the soul stone on Vormir." Nat looked up from taking her notes.
"What is Vormir?" She asked.
"A dominion of death... at the very center of celestial existence." Nebula sounded unnervingly cynical. Everyone looked up at her a little shocked. "It's where Thanos murdered my sister." She said, her robotic and monotone voice made it sound rather dramatic. Everyone looked to Nat as she scribbled her notes on her page. Steve sighed.
"Not it." Scott said quickly.
"Right well, you mortals have fun. I'm going to bed." Thor groaned and left.
Over the next hour we went over all the locations the stones could have possibly been. By the end of the evening it was only Natasha, Bruce, Tony and I left. Harriet had fallen asleep on the sofa in the corner after insisting she stayed with us whilst the others went to have dinner. Bruce was laid on the floor and Tony and Nat were laid across the table with their hoods up. I was slouched in my chair with my feet resting on Nat's thighs.
"That time stone guy?" Nat began
"Dr Strange." Bruce replied.
"Yeah, what kind of doctor was he?" She asked.
"Ears nose and throat meets rabbit from hat." Tony sighed, holding the bridge of his nose. Nat fiddled with her pen which I couldn't help but stare at.
"Nice place in the village though." Bruce added.
"Yeah, on Sullivan street?" Tony mumbled.
"Mm... Bleecker street." Bruce corrected him.
"Wait, he lived in New York?" Nat asked.
"No, he lived in Toronto." Tony moved to look at Nat.
"Yeah, on Bleecker and Sullivan." Bruce contradicted him.
"Have you been listening to anything?" I sighed.
"Guys? If you pick the right year, there are three stones in New York." Natasha said quite casually. I sat up immediately and took my feet off her lap. Bruce looked up from the floor, his eyes wide.
"Shut the front door!" He said in shock.
"You bloody genius. Ah!" I said, leaning to kiss Nat on the cheek. Tony jumped off the table and typed it into the computer.
"So that means... of course! Tesseract means mind stone, Strange means time stone and scepter means space stone! So we need to go to New York in 2012." Tony put his pen in his mouth and moved the three stones into a box labelled New york.
"Well the reality stone is obviously in Asgard." I said, putting the red stone in a box labelled Asgard. The other two stones fit in a box labelled 'Morag/ Vormir'
"Right then." Bruce clapped his hands together. "Let's get the ball rolling."
"Or should I say get the stones rolling." Tony pointed a finger at me. I nodded, high fiving him. We finally had somewhat of a plan.
Nat sat on the table just staring at the screen. We had a plan. I sat beside her, taking her hand in mine and squeezing it lightly. She rested her shoulder on my head and whispered in my ear.
"They're going to come home."
"Yes they are." I grinned.
She kissed my shoulder before hopping off the table and going over to where Harreit was still sleeping. She scooped the child up into her arms and Haz instinctively snuggled into her chest. I followed Natasha to our daughter's bedroom. I felt bad now, we had revamped Wanda's room so when we brought her back she would no longer have a room.
I pushed the door open slowly and because Harriet was already in her pajamas we were able to just put her into bed without a fuss. Her hair covered her pillow, it had gotten very long but somehow was still manageable and not particularly knotty. Harriet smiled slightly in her sleep before laying still again. We both placed a kiss on her forehead and whispered good night before making our way to our own room.
I caught up on my social media whilst Natasha had a quick shower. I was still keeping up with posting on instagram and staying active on twitter. It was fun to engage with fans. I didn't feel like a celebrity when going about day to day life but we had periods of time where it was hard to go out without being asked for a signature or photograph. People were often more interested in my powers or Nat's poses than us as people. That was the trouble with being in the public eye, they never really see you as people, if anything you're just walking, talking displays from a museum or gallery. Either way I wasn't a massive fan of the spotlight, especially when the Avengers receive waves of hate. There were days where I missed my old life but then I stopped and thought about everything I had because of the Avengers and I knew I wouldn't change it for a second.
