POV: Narrator
Akira Thinking: This is annoying. The school trip is coming up and everyone is going to talk about it. Those girls won't even open a book with this stuff going on. And from what I hear, Uesugi is going to be busy himself. He got stuck with the test of courage. I actually find that funny.
???: Hara?
Akira: Ah, oh hey man.
???: You getting ready for camp?
Akira: I can care less about the trip. All I'm excited for is to see how bad Uesugi is going to be at the test of courage. He has zero acting skills.
???: I didn't know you two were close.
Akira: We just started talking really. We were in the same Middle School and stuff but we never really talked. He was a bit of an ass then.
???: I see.
Akira: Let me guess, you're excited yourself?
???: I would if I had a girlfriend.
Akira: You're to forceful. You really gotta be yourself ya know.
???: That's not how it works. You have to do something more. If you just be yourself, you'll never get a girl.
Akira: Not like I'm looking for one.
???: Right, you work with the Nakano sisters. You must have fun there.
Akira: No not at all. They don't listen half the time and when they do it's like the information I give out goes in one ear and out the other.
???: If you didn't get in my way you would have one less to deal with.
Akira: Not like I even talk to her. Three of them is enough.
???: Still not like I was doing anything bad.
Akira: How the hell would I know? Then there was that beatdown.
???: You have to impress them.
Akira: We both got KO'ed so it's not like it matters.
???: I still want a rematch.
Akira: Never happening.
???: I told you to hit the gym. I'll get you a membership for fre- ah.
As he was talking, he bumped into someone.
???: Oh, sorry.
Nino: AHH IT'S YOU!!!
???: Oh crap!
Akira: Wait Nino!
Akira grabs Nino's wrist and stops her.
Akira: Hang on, we should get this out of the way. Nino, this is Ryo Wada. You met him before-
Nino: Yeah I met him, he tried to kidnap me!
Wada bows.
Wada: I'm so sorry!! This was all a misunderstanding!! In that alley, it's said if you bring someone there the two would fall in love!! So I was going to bring you there to see if it was true!!!
Nino: Huh?
Akira: Don't mind the last part. All he means to say is that he isn't a bad guy. Turns out me and him had some classes together so we talked about it.
Nino: This is the same guy that beat you up right?!?!
Akira: It was a tie.
Nino: Hmm, not like I'm interested.
She turns and walks away.
Akira: You might as well have just confessed your love for her.
Wada: Naw I'm done with her. She's already got a date.
Akira: Ah, she does! Crap, her sisters are going to go crazy.
Wada: Dummy I mean you.
He hits Akira's head.
Akira: What now?
Wada: Did you hear, whoever you end up dancing with at the end of the campfire dance, you're that's who you'll end up with in life. Or that's how I think it goes.
Akira: You believe everyone people tell you. You're such an idiot. Who would believe that crap?

Akira: Ah, Yotsuba. Ah, why do you have all of those papers?
Yotsuba: I'm helping a teacher.
Akira: Here, let me take some of those.

He grabs a good amount of papers from the girl and they start walking.
Yotsuba: So are you excited for the trip?
Akira: Like I said before, not particularly.
Yotsuba makes a pouty face.
Akira: What's that look for?
Yotsuba: Hmmmm, well, I know something that will change your mind.
Akira: What is that?
Yotsuba: So, at the campfire dance, it's said the couple who dance together in the bonfire are bound for life!
Akira: Not you too. Tell me, why would my mind change for that?
Yotsuba: Oh, I don't, maybe you'd want to dance with someone special, mayyybe m-
Akira: Who, you? HA, no.
Yotsuba: Oh.
Akira: The only thing I'm "looking forward to" is the free food.
Yotsuba: Oh. . . makes sense. . .
Akira: Something wrong?
Yotsuba: NO! No it's nothing!
Akira: Ok. So where do we take these?
Yotsuba: Oh right here actually!

Ehh, man, today is a mess. I really need a nap or something. Gah, the trip is tomorrow. I didn't know that. I thought it was a week or so away. This is actually good news. If we get this done now, then I don't have to worry about them talking about it later.
Uesugi: Hara, there you are.
Akira: Oh, hey man. Is there something wrong?
Uesugi: Not particularly, but I wanted to go over some stuff with you.
Akira: What did you want to talk about?
Uesugi: I wanted to tell you about the studies.
Akira: Ah, I was thinking about that too. I doubt we CAN do anything to get them to study. We might as well just let them slide this time.
Uesugi: I was going to say the same thing.
Akira: Wow that's surprising. Is it possible Futaro Uesugi is excited for the trip?!
Uesugi: Be quiet. No, it's just that they won't listen to us if we do try to teach them.
Akira: Yeah yeah, I know. Anyway, you wanna head home?
Uesugi: Sure.
???: WAIT!!!
Akira: Ah, Yotsuba? Again?
Yotsuba: Wait you two! Hang on!!
Uesugi: What's wrong?
Yotsuba: Hey, we're going shopping, and I think you two just might wanna come.
Akira: I'm good.
Uesugi: I don't need anyth-
Yotsuba: Yeah we said we'd go eat too-
Akira: So where too?
Uesugi: You change quickly.
Akira: Come on, I don't see a reason why not.
Uesugi: *sigh* I might as well.
We follow Yotsuba to where I think her sisters are. She skips as she walks along the sidewalk.
Akira: You seem to be in a better mood now.
Yotsuba: Huh?
Akira: I don't know, you looked sick early. I didn't know if you were feeling good but here you are.
Yotsuba: Oh no, I told you I felt fine didn't I!
Akira: Yea but you could have been lying.
Uesugi: I doubt that, she can't lie for anything.
Akira: Hmm, well I mean she was shaking like a rattle and I don't think I've seen that be someone's tell.
Uesugi: Shaking?
Akira: You should have seen it, Full on-

Akira: Heh heh, sorry.
Miku: Oh here you are.
Akira: Hey Miku, oh everyone's here.
Nino: I thought you said that it would only be us!!!

Akira: I'm sure. Plus I got clothes the last time we came here.
Ichika: Yeah but don't you want anything?

Ichika: I mean clothing.
Akira: No not really. Just food really.
Ichika: You remind me of Itsuki when you talk like that.
Akira: Are you calling your sister fat?
Ichika: WHAT NO!!!

Uesugi: Yeah no. I'm not wearing this.

Yotsuba: What I thought they looked cute!

She hands him the clothes and pushes him in. Then she closes the curtains.
Ichika: They have no taste.
Akira: Not like the one you picked out was any good.
Ichika: I don't know what you're talking about.
Akira: So, how is your job coming along?
Ichika: Good actually. We're in the middle of filming.
Akira: Can you afford to take a trip like this?
Ichika: Of course.
Akira: Alright. Just making sure. We wouldn't want you to get fired now.
Ichika: That's sweet. Although school is getting in the way.
Akira: I bet. School, homework, tutoring, studying. That's a lot to do on top of acting.
Ichika: So you understand?
Akira: Yeah I do. I've had a couple of jobs before, but I didn't work long. I want to focus on school so I can become a doctor.
Itsuki: Why a doctor?
Akira: Ah, Itsuki! Hey there. Um, they make a lot of money.
Ichika: That simple huh.
Akira: That's all there is to it. I want to have lots of money. I want to support my family so they can have a good life.
Ichika: You're talking like you're poor.
Itsuki: Ah- mm.
Akira: You can never have enough money. Prices only go up, so you need more money to get the things you need, and want.
Yotsuba: What ya talking about?
Ichika: How poor Akira is.
POV: Narrator
Akira: Ha ha, you got me laughing. I don't have money to spend on extra clothes whenever I want. Example, houses go up and down. That's what sales are. Depending on the sale and the demand for them, they can get hundreds of sales, or they can get none. When things go up, it comes down, but in sales it doesn't go all the way down. Akira: This is useful information. This is stuff that school barely touches and that is actually needed in life.
Ichika: So you're saying that when prices go up, they go down slightly and go up later and then repeat right?
Yotsuba: And when it goes under it fails!
Akira: Exactly.
Itsuki: You actually understood that?
Ichika: Yeah I'm pretty used to this.
Yotsuba: Am I going to be able to pay for a house!!!???
Itsuki: Looks like she isn't fully.
Akira: No you're fine. You're rich so you don't have to worry.
Yotsuba: What if our Dad doesn't pay for our houses??
Akira: He probably won't since you guys would be adults but you can ask for a loan from him and just pay it back.
Yotsuba: You're going to be rich right?
Akira: I mean I hope so.
Yotsuba: Ah, then there's nothing to worry about.
Akira: Why's that?
Yotsuba: I can just live with you!
Akira:. . . Huh?
Itsuki: WHAT!!! YOTSUBA, YOU CAN'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT!!!!

Akira: It's fine.

Akira: Yeah, hell, all of you can say with me at my place, for a price.
Itsuki: Wait you'd make us pay!!!
Yotsuba: BUT THE WHOLE POINT IS THAT I CAN'T PAY!!
Akira: You know there's more ways to pay someone other than money.
Itsuki: EWW!!!
Ichika: Ooh Akira, I didn't think you thought so naughty thoughts about us.
Yotsuba: You want is to clean?
Akira: Yeah. What else would I be talking about?
Itsuki & Ichika: Oh.
Akira: What were you guys thinking of?
Ichika: Nothing.
Akira: Cleaning, hell, just going shopping or cooking will earn you a room in my house.
Itsuki: Yeah like your wife will allow five beautiful women in your house to stay.
Akira: Who said anything about a wife?
Itsuki: HUH!?!?
Akira: Like I said before, no girl is awing over me. Plus, if you guys did actually live with me, I guess it won't be lonely.
Ichika: Aww.
Akira: Anywhere you guys go there's always something happening.
Itsuki: I don't know if that's a compliment or not.
Akira: Take it how you want.
Uesugi: I don't know about this one either.
Akira: PFFF HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Uesugi: How about you try some on.
Akira: HAHAHA, I'm good.
Miku: I think it's good.
Uesugi: Where do you think this trip is?
Akira: Can we go?
Ichika: To where?
Akira: I don't know. I'm kinda hungry.
Nino: All you talk about is food. It's disgusting.
Akira: Well I was told there would be food.
The sisters turn to Yotsuba
Yotsuba: It's the only way he comes.
Akira: She's right. It does work. And I'm hungry.
Ichika: We aren't done shopping.
Uesugi: Huh?
Itsuki: Mmm, I'm kinda hungry too.
Ichika: Oh, well why don't you two go and get something. We will meet up with you. I doubt we will take very long.
Itsuki: WAIT I'M NOT THAT HUNGRY!!!
Akira: Ok sure.
Itsuki: HUH!!??
Akira gets up and starts walking away. Ichika pushes Itsuki up and towards Akira. She jogs to catch up to him.
Itsuki: Wait up!
Akira: Oh you're coming?
Itsuki: Well, we can't have you going by yourself around here. We know what happened last time we were here.
Akira: Yeah I remember.
Itsuki Thinking: Wait, that was the day his dad died wasn't it? Did I ever say anything about it?
Akira Thinking: Uesugi told her that she'll go fat if she ate like she did. So she must have a good stomach, so hopefully she has her wallet cause I'm not paying for her.
They walk in silence as till they get to the food court. They walk to a line and in a few minutes they're up. Akira lets her order first.
Akira Thinking: Hmm, I don't have that much money. The rice is two hundred Yen, so I'll just get that.
Cashier: And for you?
Akira: I'll just have rice.
Cashier: O-
Itsuki: That's it?!
Akira: Yeah.
Itsuki: I thought you said you were hungry!
Akira: Well rice is filling.
Itsuki: Not enough!
Akira: This isn't something you bring up when we are up here!
Itsuki: GET SOMETHING ELSE!
Akira: I'M FINE!!
Cashier: Um, you can think about if you want?
Akira: No need-
Itsuki: He'll have the Teriyaki Chicken with the bowl of rice!
Akira: WHAT!!
Cashier: Ok I'll have that out.
Akira: WAIT NO TAKE THAT OFF!!!
Itsuki: It's fine idiot, I'm paying.
Akira: AH, I can't let you do that! You girls keep spending money on me I can't let that continue. Not to mention I get paid for helping you gu-
Itsuki: I don't study with you guys, so just think of it as a little gift.
Akira: Um, ok.
Cashier: Here you go.
Akira: Thank you.
They grab their food and walk to a table. They sit across from each other and clap their hands together.
Akira: Thank you for the food.
Itsuki: Thank you for the food.
Akira breaks his chopsticks apart and looks at his food.
Akira Thinking: Wow this does look good. I didn't see how much it was but it has to be a lot more than what I have.
He picks up a pick and eats it.
Akira: Wow, this is really good! Thank You Itsuki!
Itsuki: Oh right, it's nothing.
He looks down at her food and sees it's something different. It was meat instead of chicken with rice. He ignores it and continues eating. Minutes later he feels someone looking at him, looking at his food.
Akira: Ah, Itsuki, is something wrong?
Itsuki: WHAT, NOTHING!!
Akira: Ah, heh heh, do you want to try some?
Itsuki: What no, I can't it's yours.
Akira: You bought it, so it's yours. Here, have some.
He picks up a piece and brings it over to her mouth. Her face goes red.
Akira: What now?
Itsuki: It's just that. .
Akira thinks about the situation and remembers his conversation with Ichika.
Akira: Oh good grief. Just eat it or don't take any.
Itsuki: FINE!! NOM!!
Akira: Was it that hard?
Itsuki: Shut up.
Akira: Just think of it as a nice gesture.
Itsuki: Fine. . . Hey, Hara-
Akira: Call me Akira. There's no need to call me that.
Itsuki: Ah, um ok. Akira, is your family setting the same as Uesugi's?
Akira: Just about.
Itsuki: So that's why you eat that lunch?
Akira: What do you mean?
Itsuki: I know about Uesugi's situation. His debt I mean.
Akira: Oh that. I'm not in any debt but I'm poor.
Itsuki: Wow what a way to sugarcoat it.
Akira: How do you sugarcoat being poor? My family doesn't have money. And like you've seen, I can barely afford food for myself. Is that what you wanted to hear?
Itsuki: I-I'm. . . I'm sorry.
Akira: For what, me not having money?
Itsuki: I DON'T KNOW JUST SORRY!
Akira: Alright alright don't hurt yourself.
Itsuki: That's why you don't eat, and why you gave your food to your sister. You always look tired, and you still help my sisters.
Akira: Don't be an idiot. I'm not doing this out of the kindness of my heart you know. I heard I'd get paid and I took it. This is just a job to me.
Itsuki: You, just see this as a job?
Akira: Yeah.
Itsuki: That's what Uesugi would have said. I think he did actually.
Akira continues to eat.
Itsuki: Ha- ah, Akira. What do you see me as?
Akira: Um, a girl?
Ituski: NOT THAT!!! I meant, relationship wise?
Akira: Hmm, well, I can't even see you as a student since you don't even study with us, so. . . just an acquaintance.
Itsuki: What about. . Yotsuba?
Akira: Hmm, I guess. . my student? Uesugi calls them his partners so that works to-
Itsuki: That's it!!
They girl stands up.
Akira: Ah- What do you mean?!?
Itsuki: Do you see Ichika like that?! MIKU!!
Akira: Ah, yeah, I don't understand the prob-
Itsuki: You don't understand anything!!!
She sits back down angrily.
Itsuki: How? You spend all your time with them, and you don't even see yourself as friends. Tsk, you're just like Uesugi.
Akira: Friends?
It was quiet. The two thought about what was said.
Akira: Friends huh. Do they see me as a friend?
Itsuki: Of course they do!
Akira: Oh. . . . I . . I didn't know that.
Itsuki: God you're so stupid.
Akira: How was I supposed to know!
Itsuki: You think we just buy random people clothes and things!!!
Akira: AH!. . . So, do you see me as a friend?
Itsuki: Wh- HUH!?!?
Akira: I mean you bought this for me.
Itsuki: OH NO I WAS JUST DOING THAT AS A GIFT FOR HELPING THAT'S AL-
Akira: Exactly. A gift for helping. That's all I see it as.
Itsuki stops talking in shock. She realised what she said and played it through her head, putting herself in Hara's shoes and thinking what it would be like for him. A poor smart kid that was given money to help other people get smarter. Gets paid and puts that money to his family, not spending it on himself. Then repeats the cycle over and over.
One day the people that you help everyday wants to buy you something. A nice meal or a warm jacket, just to show their thanks for helping them for the past months.
Itsuki: Oh, I see.
Akira: There's a story similar to this situation. We'll say these people are in middle school.
Itsuki: What?
Akira: Just listen. There's a young boy. He isn't popular and he doesn't stick out. He doesn't have friends and sits alone most of the time. One day he looks up from his notebook. The popular girl is looking at him and smiles. He thinks she must be looking at someone behind him, but he was in the back of the room. She waves and smiles again. He gives a little wave back and she laughs and smiles. Then goes back to her friends.
He plays with his chopsticks as Itsuki listens.
Akira: For weeks, she does this. Being a kid who doesn't talk to anyone, he can think of two reasons why she is doing this. Reason 1) She's taking pity on him, or reason 2) she likes him. Little does he know, he also has a crush on her. A month later, a school dance is in play. This loser kid works up the courage to ask her out.
Itsuki: Why does a middle school have a dance?
Akira: It's the story!! Sport team thing I don't know. Ahem, so one day he walks up to the girl. She sees him and smiles again. He gets closer and notices her friends behind her, but he didn't care in that moment. He stands in front of her and asks,
Boy: Hey, um, do you want to go to the dance with me?
Akira: The girl sits there in silence, till.
Girl: Heh, heh, hahah, hahhahah, Hahahahhh Hahahahahahah!! Go to the dance with you, HA, like I'd do anything with you! Jeez you're completely hopeless. A girl smiles at you and you fall for them, HAHAHAHHA!!!
Akira: After that, the rest of the girls laugh at him, then the class finds out. The boy that was taking her wasn't happy that some loser asked her out so he bullied him, and even beat him up. The boy didn't want to fight, so he just took the hits, never fought back once in the multiple times he got beat up. This all happened because he misread the situation took a simple gesture the wrong way. I'm not going to make that mistake with anyone.
Itsuki: What happened to the guy in the story?
Akira: Living a normal life, what do you want me to say?
Itsuki: . . . Who was she?
Akira: You figured out?
Itsuki: I'm not book smart but I'm not idiot.
Akira: It was some girl in my class. She would wave and smile at me from her desk. I should have known it was just a prank but I was stupid.
Itsuki: I'm sorry.
Akira: For what now?
Itsuki: I didn't know.
Akira: Not like you could have known. Uesugi only knows a little bit of it.
Itsuki: Wait I thought you said you guys knew each other in school?
Akira: We were in different schools but our schools went on a trip and we met.
Itsuki: Oh, ok.
Akira: You know I think of you as an acquaintance, so what am I to you.
Itsuki: Ha no why we're friends, but, Ichika, Miku, Yotsuba. . . I don't think they'll be happy if they heard you call them an acquaintance.
Akira: So how do you know if you're someone's friend?
Itsuki: You talk all the time, you're with them all the time, what else do you need?
Akira: Again it's my job.
Yotsuba: What's up you guys!
Akira: Oh, hey Yotsuba.
Yotsuba: We're all finished!
Uesugi: I'm not shopping for a while.
Akira: Did you buy anything?
Uesugi: A little.
Akira: Well are you going to ea- *RING RING RING RING* Ah, hang on.

Akira: Hello?
Kina: AKIRA!!!
Akira: Ah, Kina, what's wrong?
Kina: Is Futaro with you?
Akira: Yeah he's right here. Is something wrong?
Kina: It's Raiha, she's sick!
Akira: Oh, ok. We're on our way ok. Just stay with her right now.
Kina: Ok I will.

Akira: Uesugi, we have to go.
Uesugi: What's wrong?
Akira: Raiha is sick.
Uesugi: RAIHA!!
Akira: Calm down, Kina is with her right now. Sorry everyone but we have to leave.
Ichika: We understand.
Miku: Do you need a ride or something?
Akira: No it's faster if we ran then by car.

Uesugi: Raiha are you ok?
Raiha: Brother, you're here already?
Akira: What happened Kina?
Akina: She fell at school so I brought her here!
Akira: It's ok, she'll be fine. Futaro, when is your dad going to be home?
Futaro: Not until morning.
Raiha: But your trip!
Futaro: Get some rest ok.
Raiha: Fine.
Akira: Kina, can you walk home yourself? I need to talk to Futaro alone.
Kina: Ok. Bye Raiha, get some rest ok. I'll see you in the morning!
Raiha: Thank you.
Akina gets up and walks out. The two boys walk over to where Raiha couldn't hear them talk.
Akira: What's going to happen?
Uesugi: I won't leave her by herself, so I'll just miss the trip.
Akira: You can't!
Uesugi: Well I can't just leave Raiha.
Akira: Come on Uesugi, you've been looking forward to this trip, you can't just skip.
Uesugi: Why would you say that?
Akira: Come on, I've seen that you planned the whole trip out not only for yourself, but for me and the Nakano's. I bet you remembered everything that's going on!
Uesugi: That's just to be prepared.
Akira: You want to go-
Uesugi: It's just to be ahea-
Akira: LISTEN FUTARO!!!
He quickly quiets himself down.
Akira: I don't want to go. You, want to go. You see where I'm getting at?
Uesugi: You want to watch her?
Akira: Exactly. Not to mention you have the test of courage. People are counting on you, no one is on me. You know I'll take care of her, so tomorrow, I'll come over, and I don't want to see you here.
He turns around and starts walking.
Akira: Lay down Raiha.
Raiha: Fine.
Akira walk to the door and leaves.
POV: Akira Hara
Jeez, he's hopeless. The one time he actually wants to do something other than studying, he's being held back. I'd rather let him go and have myself help Raiha. He's something else.
Akira: Kina, I'm home.
Kina: Is she ok?!?!
Akira: She'll be fine ok. Don't worry. We can head over if you want tomorrow morning ok.
Kina: Ok!
Akira: Mom should be home soon. I have leftovers from when I ate so if you want it you can eat it.
Kina: Really?
Akira: Yeah do you want it?
Kina: Yes thank you!
Akira: I'm going to heat it up ok. Just sit down and I'll be back.
Not that I can't see where Uesugi is coming from. I'd do anything for my sister, even if it was giving up something I wanted to do.
I really hope he goes tomorrow. I don't want him to miss out on the trip. I really just wanted the food unlike him. He planned so much, it actually sounded like fun. But all I can do is hope he'll leave.
Mom: Are you guys home?
Akira: Yes, welcome home.

Akira: Kina, time to wake up.
Kina: Mmm, ok.
Akira: When you're ready we can head over to the Uesugi's.
Kina: THAT'S RIGHT I'M UP!!
Akira: Hey, calm down we're not in a rush.
Kina: But she's all my herself right!! What if she wakes up!!!
Akira: Ha, alright well get changed, we'll leave right away.
Kina: Done!
Akira: Ok come on.
I open the door and she walks right under my arm and out the door. I close and lock the door and walk down the street.
Kina: Do you have a key?
Akira: No but I'm pretty sure they have a key under a plant or something.
Kina: Hehe, found it!
She hands it to me and I unlock the door. I open it once again and she walks in. We take off our shoes and walk in.
Akira: Hey, Raiha, are ya u- ah, Futaro.
Kina: Wait I thought we were going to look after Raiha?
Futaro: Oh, hey guys.
