Violet POV
It took a lot of begging to get Ceil to let me out of jail. It didn't want to be locked up there forever, I couldn't handle being alone for that long. And I don't want to just sit out this whole 'Fight the Demon King' plan.
I had briefly explained the plan to Ceil and Allen earlier. Well, it wasn't quite the plan when someone is coming up with it for you...
My thoughts are interrupted by yet another sound in the bushes. The forest I'm currently in is a little scary, maybe it's because it's pretty late in the day. After a while of walking, I finally find what I've been looking for.
A large tree, stretching way above the rest of the trees, my neck strains trying to look up at it. I exhale slowly, this better work...
"William!" I yell at the top of my lungs. Silence. I wait for a bit, but no one responds. "William! I know you're there!" I yell again. Silence again. "HELOOOO?" This goes on for a while, my throat going soar from the yelling.
Finally, after resorting to sing 'the song that never ends' over and over, I finally get a response: "Will you shut up?!" An annoyed voice comes from atop the tree.
"You finally answered!" I say happily, my voice a little hoarse.
"What do you want?!" The voice asks in a rude manner.
"Let me up! I need to talk to you!"
"Why would I do that?" The voice scoffs.
"The Kingdom is at stake."
"Are you talking about the Demon King? How could I be of any help?"
"You're a dark magic user, just like him, aren't you?"
The voice didn't respond. After a while I hear clangs on top of the tree, a wooden ladder drops from the tree. I slowly make my way up the tree. After getting closer to the top, I see the outlines of what seems like a small house on top of it.
At the end of the ladder, I'm met with a house, small if you compare it to an actual house, but pretty spacious for a treehouse. It even has a small balcony.
I walk into the house, William is leaning against the wall next to the doorway, a cold look on his face. "How did you know? Who told you?" He asks as soon as he sees me.
"No one told me, don't worry. As for how I know, everyone has their secrets, no?" I smile.
William doesn't seem very pleased with my answer, judging by the deepening scowl on his face.
"I'm not going to tell anyone." I awkwardly laugh. Well, Allen already knows, so it's not like I told him...
"Fine. What do you want?" His tone relaxes a very tiny bit.
"Well, I won't beat around the bush, does The Demon King have a weakness?"
"Couldn't you give me an easier assignment?" he laughs. "You know that knowing his weakness doesn't mean that you can defeat him, right? That man can kill anyone anytime he wants. Do you even have any sort of plan?"
"Sort of..... That doesn't matter! I'll figure it out!" I say.
"Well, it's none of my business." He sighs, "Well, I'll help, since I would also not like to be dragged into a war." He sat down on a chair behind him crossing his arms and legs. "Well, for starters, look into what are NOT his weaknesses. Perhaps, he is immortal, so no sickness or poison, he is incredibly strong, so no use trying to fight him directly, he's got hundreds of followers and guards so no use trying to get close to him from the inside....."
He was about to continue when I interrupted, "Actually, that's not true." I say.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I worked for him, kind of, I don't really know why, but he approached me and asked me to help him."
"WHAT?!" He almost fell over on his chair. "ARE YOU STUID?! WHY WOULD YOU ACCEPT?!"
"I know I know, everybody I've told has already said that, so there's no need to lecture me. I wanted to know what he was up to. Ok?"
"Ok, fine. So now what? You're just going to approach him and ask to work for him again?"
"Actually, back at the school festival, he said to make up my mind about if I want to leave or stay, so I was actually hoping it's not too late...."
"Ugh, well, whatever, I don't care." He sighs. "Back to what I was saying, there's only one weakness that he can't hide from. It comes with being a dark magic user. Do you know how one achieves dark magic?"
"Yes. A sacrifice of 10 people with above average mana." I say anxiously. God, I feel like I'm going through Williams route all over again..... It was so sad and angsty, I cried so much...
"Oh? I'm surprised you aren't avoiding me like the plague..." He laughs softly.
"Like I sad, I know a lot of things....." I try to change the subject, I don't want to cry remembering his backstory. "Well, what's the weakness?"
"haa. The weakness is Gods."
"huh."
"Let me explain. Dark magic is the magic of the devil, something he created himself to oppose the Gods power over mana. So of course he asks for a price if you want to use his creation. But the Lord of The Underworlds fun didn't last long, as he soon discovered that the Gods repel this dark magic, so he couldn't harm them. So that's why he created minions with these powers and unleashed them on this earth to cause chaos blah blah blah we all heard this in history class, Anyway, basically anything that has any trace of The Gods powers can make a dark magic user weak and sick."
"That sounds like a great weakness, but.... where are we going to get something that has traces of The Gods?!"
"Haha, that is a problem. The only things I can think of are holy objects, but those are extremely protected by churches.... Then there are the priestess gems.."
"Priestess gems?"
"You say you know a lot of things but you don't know what a Priestess gem is? Well, whatever. A Priestess gem is a rare holy object. It's something that comes from the Gods themselves. When devoted followers of the God are recognized by their God, The God hands them a gift, a Priestess stone. It's a very small rock, but it carries with it a Gods blessing."
I wasn't really surprised when I didn't know what they were, because these kinds of details wouldn't be useful in the game, since there was no storyline where this mattered.. "So, where do you get them?" I ask
" 'Where do you get them?' I'm sorry, but Priestess stones are not something you buy at the street market, those stones are few and far between, only a few priests and priestesses have them, and they carry those stones to their graves. Unless you are a life long devoted follower of a God or someone who has had the Priestess stone handed down to them from generations, your not getting anywhere near one."
"tsk. This is beginning to look very hopeless..." I sigh.
"Not my problem, I gave you all the info I had, now please leave, I was actually doing something." He says.
"Actually, could you help us a little more?"
"What?"
"Please! We have no Idea how dark magic works and you're the best we got! Please, please, please!"
"No! I have better things to do!" He scoffs.
"Please, please, please! I won't stop interrupting you if you don't! It's just a few conversations, it's nothing big!"
"Somehow, I feel like I'm going to get dragged deeper into this issue...."
"Please?"
"Fine. If it'll get you to leave."
"Yes! Ok, I'll leave you be for now!" I wave goodbye as I climb down the ladder once more. Although I didn't get the best of news regarding The Demon King's weakness, I did recruit a new ally, today is a great day!
