Ji-eun's pov

"Wait what??!" -Sana

"I'm sorry but can you repeat that for me?"  -Sana

Sana said in disbelief, her jaw hanging low as she looked at me with wide eyes.

"I accidentally broke my skates?" I answered, unsure if that was what she wanted me to repeat. I had a finger poking my cheek as I sat down in the library with her.

"No no before that! You said HE WRAPPED HIS ARMS AROUND YOU??!" Her tone gradually got higher as she relayed what I told her. She grabbed me by my shoulders, lightly shaking me as she stared at me with a devious smile on her face.

"What? Are you just going to ignore the fact that I told you my poor skates broke?" I asked, bowing my head with a fake pout.

"Girl- you basically just had your own K-drama moment and that's what you're worried about?!" She said in a squeak, smacking her cheeks to compose herself.

"Hey, we're in the library, be quiet. What if they kick us out because your dumbass is overreacting!" I whisper-yelled at her, covering her mouth.

When she finally calmed down, I moved my hand away, thinking it was all over but she suddenly did a lower scream. "I'm overreacting?? You're the one UNDER REACTING!" She grumbled, shaking me a bit more as she clamped down on my shoulders once again. I shook her hands off my shoulders, getting up from the bench, looking around me suspiciously just in case anyone heard.

"Come on, let's go." I ordered, pulling her up along with me. "Go where? Class doesn't start until 2." She answered, dragging her feet as she followed behind me. "The cafeteria of course. I'm hungry."

When I looked back at her a smile was now draped across her lips. We both loved food so denying my request wasn't an option for her.

The cafeteria was filled with whispering and loud talking added to the stifling atmosphere clouded around us. Though lunch was over, many students were still lingering here and there, gossiping about the usual stuff. I turned my attention to Sana, asking her what she wanted while keeping my pace up in the line.

"Hmmm, I'll just take the strawberry milk." She pointed over a girl's head at the vending machine. I simply nodded then turned around, stepping up in line.

"Yeah, I heard he's really freaking hot!"

"Me too! I heard he's really popular with the girls."

"I can't wait for him to join us, oh my godd!"

I perched up, undeniably listening in on what they were talking about. I pulled Sana closer to me, inviting her to listen to what tea they were spilling. She turned her head, facing me with wide eyes. "New student?" She mouthed and I nodded my head, peeling my ears trying to drown out the other noises while I tried keeping up with their conversation.

New student? In the middle of the term, like me? That's odd.

Sana nudged me on the shoulder, gesturing to the girls in front of us. I aggressively shook my head, motioning her to not do what I think she was going to do. She just shrugged it off and slid her way up at the girls.

"Hey ladies. What's the latest? Hmm?" She proudly asked, linking her arms with the two girls who were now in shock. I shook my head, sighing at how she was so open and extroverted to the point where she didn't care if she was over talking.

"A new student's joining us in a few weeks or who knows maybe sooner."

I drew my head closer, sucking in all the new information we were getting.

"A girl said she knows him. I think she said his name was Hee-..." the girl sighed, rubbing her temples as she was at a loss of words. "Heewong? No no I think it's Heechul. Right?" She said unconvincingly, turning her head over to her other friend for help. The other girl just shrugged, adding to the limit of uncertainty among us.

"Oh, well. Thanks ladies." Sana concluded, falling back in the line where I was.

"Heechul? They seem uncertain but I heard he's attractive. Maybe he could be a match for you." She said with a teasing wink. I playfully pushed her, shaking away the incredulous thing she just said. She paused, facing me with a grin before she sucked in a deep breath to speak. "That is, if you don't care about Princey boy." She choked out in a low whisper, pointing behind me. I stared at her confused, tapping my feet lightly on the floors as I deciphered what she was trying to get across to me.

"Princey boy? What's with that nickname—" I muttered, cringing at how it sounded when it rolled off my tongue but I'm not going to lie it did suit him and his amazing figure skating skills. I heaved a sigh, lowering her hand that was pointing behind me.

"Where are you even pointing? I swear you're so-" I was in the process of turning around to see what she was actually pointing at when my eyes were locked with Sunghoon's for a split second before I tore away. I really hope he didn't see me! Please, dear god! Skating practice did not end well yesterday and I can't keep myself from thinking about it every time I see him!

"Let's go." I pulled her forwards, moving out of the line elsewhere.

"Wh- why? I didn't get my strawberry milk." She pouted sadly, struggling to keep up with my fast pace as I dragged her behind me.

"Forget that. I'll buy it next time. Let's just get out of here-" I conclude, halting when I didn't feel the warm contact of our hands anymore. I spun around only to be met with an empty corridor with no Sana in it. Where did she go? How did she disappear so fast?

I stood still in the middle of the corridor, furrowing my brows as I brought my hands to the bridge of my nose. I let out a disappointing sigh, reclining back to my array of clouded thoughts.

"Forget it, she's probably with Sunoo right now." I breathed out a groan, getting ready to continue walking when I heard someone coming my way.

Sunghoon's pov

"Dude I'm telling you, you should try it! It tastes good." Jake's voice rippled through the silence as he conversed with Jay and I.

"Yeah but it sounds weird. Ice cream, Oreos, condensed milk and jello? Look- ice cream already tastes good with Oreo separately not with condensed milk and jello together. Do you want me to get diabetes??" Jay fired back incompetently, although I'm pretty sure he thoroughly thought this true before answering.

I on the other hand, I wasn't fully with them. My mind was elsewhere, places where it shouldn't be. Why do I keep thinking about her? Why is she always on my mind? I was told I should despise her for stealing my first place but I don't quite think the same way as my dad or my coach. Why should I despise her when she's also trying her best?

I wonder what they'd think if I told them the truth...about me losing both tournaments. How they'd react when I tell them I didn't go all out. How they'd react when I tell them I lost on purpose. At the time of my first tournament my dad was really giving me a hard time saying 'if I don't win I'm a disappointment' or 'I'm so useless, I shouldn't have learned figure skating', so I decided to rebel. I honestly didn't expect to actually go through with my plan because I knew my dad and coach would go berserk if I were to lose but I somehow convinced myself it was for my own good.

When the day of the tournament arrived, I purposefully held back my true skills just to anger my father. I had gotten more than a scolding and snide remarks from him but something, well someone, piqued my interest.

It was her. Yang Ji-eun. We never once spoke, only shared a few glances at each other, that's all, but when I looked at her, I saw more than a mere competitor. The way she danced on the ice was incredible and just by watching her I was left in a glorious trance. She wasn't like any other person I met and after conceded momentarily moments of thinking about it I had made up my mind to befriend her, the only problem was, I was too shy to talk to her and she seemed not an ounce interested in me.

"Sunghoon? Dude, you alright? You're zoning out often. Something on your mind you'd like to talk about?" Of course it had to be Jake who noticed. He was really quick witted when it came to this stuff but always faltered when he had to use his brain for educational purposes.

"Y-yeah I'm fine." I shrugged it off bluntly, keeping up my stride with them as we trudged down the corridor after visiting the vending machine.

"Oh yeah? What were we talking about just now?" Jay intervened, giving Jake a smirk before fixing his gaze on me.

"Uh, ice cream and some weird combination?"

"No, that was ten minutes ago. We were actually talking about Ji-eun." Jake deadpanned in a serious manner, glancing at Jay weirdly.

I twitched by the sound of her name, unknowingly looking like I was shocked. I paused, not a single word managed to come out of my slightly agape mouth.

"Bro- Look at you! You're totally whipped!" Jake exclaimed, elated by the slight change in my movement when I heard her name.

"I totally agree with Jake. You're head over heels." Jay added, a smile hinting at his lips as they both teased me playfully.

"Guys- I told you already, I just wanna be her friend. Can't a guy and girl just be friends? She's just like me so what's the problem with that?"

"That's exactly the problem, and yes, of course guys and girls can be friends but you two...not so much." Jake continued, the same devious grin plastered across his face.

"What? What do you mean by that?"

"You're going to have to figure that out yourself, buddy." Jay lightly tapped my back before exchanging knowing glances with Jake.

"Whatever, let's just get back to class." I huffed, stuffing my hands in my pocket, my mind left in a hazy blur trying to encompass everything they said.

-

"Isn't that Ji-eun?" Jay's voice broke through the silence as we strode along the corridor. I didn't look up because this was the second time they had 'faked seeing Ji-eun' just to get my reaction.

"Not cool guys. I'm telling you there's nothing-" I suddenly felt two hands pressing on my back behind me, a hard yet sudden force pushed me forward without warning.

"I swear to god-!" I said in an annoyed tone but suddenly froze, paralyzed from head to toe when I was pushed into someone in front of me.

My eyes widened in shock when I came to my senses, realizing who it was.
