Y/n's POV:
It's been about two weeks since our shopping trip in Hogsmeade. I've hardly left my dorm room except going on my usual walk with Ginny and Hermione. I couldn't bare to look at Fred knowing I still had immense feelings for him but he moved on to someone else.
I didn't realise it was Christmas Eve today, tonight was the Yule Ball and I'm really excited to dance with Cedric. I decided to find him. I roamed the corridors to find him. I went into the library to find him there reading about how to dance.
"Hey Cedric" I whispered in his ear.
"Geez y/n, you made me jump" he said "how are you?"
"I'm good thanks. And yourself" I replied
"I'm good to. Are you exited for tonight?"
"Very. What time shall I meet you tonight?"
"We have to walk in at 8:00pm. So I'd say about 7:50"
"Sounds great"
"Psst y/n" I heard someone whisper.
I looked over to see Lee and George standing in the next row along.
"Come here" Lee said.
"Coming" I replied. "Bye Ced I'll see you tonight"
"Bye y/n" he said back.
I walked over to George and Lee. They seemed worried about something.
"What's up" I said, completely oblivious of what they were about to say.
"We're worried" George muttered.
"What are you worried about" I asked and getting concerned.
"You" Lee responded. I was slightly taken aback but saw they weren't joking so I became more serious.
"Why are you worried about me?" I asked concerned.
"We haven't seen you in two weeks. We thought something was wrong" They both said.
"Well I didn't want to see Fred after he kissed Angelina" I replied
They were about to reply but Hermione and Ginny came running to me.
"Y/n we need to go get ready" Ginny squealed.
"But it's 5pm" I retaliated.
"Exactly, now come on" Hermione said. They grabbed my arm and started pulling me away.
"Bye boys. I'll see you tonight." I whisper shouted before getting pulled out of the library to Hermione and my dorm to get ready.
Ginny had got her dress and left it in her room. I was in charge of makeup, Ginny was in charge of hair and Hermione fixed anything that was wrong with our dresses.
I done Ginny's makeup first. I done a simple look that made her brown eyes pop.
I then done Hermione's makeup whilst Ginny done her hair at the same time. I done a pink eyeshadow, just as she asked. Ginny done her hair into a smart knot.
"Why are you wearing pink eyeshadow if your dress is periwinkle" I asked.
"I decided pink would look better" she said as she tapped her wand and it turned to a beautiful pink ombré.
"That does look better" Ginny said. "Come on y/n time for your hair."
I done my own makeup whilst Ginny done my hair. I done a simple look with light purple eyeshadow and weak eyeliner. Ginny had curled my hair and used a spell to make sure I won't lose my curls.
We all slid on our dresses, put on our heels. I placed on a necklace my parents got me for my birthday present.
This is what I imagine the dress looking like.
I checked the time and it was 7:45pm I had to be there in five minutes. Me and Hermione walked down the steps. We were about to turn the corner when I noticed Cedric standing waiting for me.
"You go first" Hermione said.
I slid gracefully down the steps, slowly and elegantly. Cedric was open-mouthed and staring at me.
"You look beautiful y/n" he said, barely stringing the sentence together.
"Thank you Cedric. You look very handsome" I replied.
Hermione came down soon after me, Viktor Krum was also open mouthed. She smiled at me with a happy expression.
"Champions please get in formation" called McGonagall.
Fleur and her date Rodger Davies stood in front. Hermione and Viktor where behind them. Me and Cedric stood behind Hermione and Viktor with Harry and Parvati Patil in the back.
Cedric held his arm out and I took it ready to walk in. The doors to the great hall opened and we all walked in. Everyone was staring at me and whispers among the crowd.
I noticed George and Lee giving me a thumbs up and Fred stood there open mouthed, but Angelina soon stopped him.
Me and Cedric took our formations. Cedric took my waist and I took his shoulder. Our free hands were interlocked. The music soon started and we danced elegantly. I've never felt so good I was dancing with a Hogwarts champion. We were doing it perfectly.
Everyone else started dancing to. Cedric lifted me up. I saw Fred dancing with Angelina but still looking at me. We danced for the whole song and stepped out to get some punch with him.
Fred's POV:
I stood in the entrance hall to wait for Angelina although I hoped to get a glimpse of y/n. I planned to apologise tonight and I had another idea in mind
Angelina walked down the steps. She wore a navy blue skin tight dress. She looked very pretty but I imagined myself waiting for y/n
"You look wonderful Freddie" she said to me with a smile on her face.
"Thank you Angie, you look nice to" I replied.
I heard someone that sounded like y/n whisper something to someone who sounded like Hermione. But before I could see her Angelina had pulled me into the great hall. Once everyone was in the door closed to wait for the champions and their dates.
The doors burst open. I saw y/n immediately, she looked so happy to be with Cedric, it broke my heart. She waved at Lee and George who have her a thumbs up. She looked beautiful and I've never seen anyone look that good in a dress.
Her hair bounced perfectly as she walked. I noticed a small necklace that her parents got her. I remember so vividly the excitement on her face when she got it for her birthday in 5th year.
Angelina caught me staring at her. Open mouthed and nearly drooling
"Fred" she snapped "your here with me not her"
"Oh right" I said. I lowered my gaze but still looked at her
She and Cedric took the dancing positions. I desperately wished it was me standing there dancing with her. The music started and she danced do elegantly and gracefully like a swan. I noticed she looked at me with a sad look.
Me and Angelina took the dance floor. I couldn't focus on dancing with her. All I could think about is y/n. She caught me staring at her when Cedric lifted her up. I focused on dancing until I could make my move.
Y/n's POV:
We drunk our drinks then we went back to the dance floor. This time The Weird Sisters took the stage and we started singing. Me and Cedric danced for ages. A slow song then stared. I was about to take his shoulder when I heard someone say something to Cedric.
"May I take y/n for this dance" I saw Fred ask Cedric.
"Of course" he said. He let go of me and walked off to be with his friends.
I reluctantly took Fred's shoulders and he grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him I could smell his vanilla and gunpowder scent. Oh how I missed it.
"Where's your date" I said sarcastically to him
"She left" he replied.
"Why, didn't you want to take her"
"She left after I got caught looking at you"
Fred's face went red and I let out a small smile.
"Why-" I tried to ask but I got cut off.
"Y/n I'm sorry, I should've have called you a liar. I wanted to go to the ball with you" He started "I'm sorry I flirted with Angelina, I'm sorry I asked her to the ball, I was reciting it my head to ask you, I'm sorry I made you cry, I'm sorry I didn't pull away when she kissed me"
Fred gave me a sad little look. I was more surprised when I heard he was apologising me. I loved it I missed him more than anything.
"Fred I-" I started. But the song finished and he pulled me somewhere.
We both stayed quiet all the way up to the astronomy tower. It was nearly midnight. We got up there and we both walked to the edge, resting our elbows on the railings.
"It's beautiful out here" I said in awe of the starry sky
"I know" Fred replied as he stared at me.
"I meant the stars Fred" I joked.
"Y/n listen to me" Fred gently moved my head and I met his gaze. "I miss you so much y/n. I felt awful for how I reacted. I wanted to apologise when Ginny walked in the great hall after you first walked out" I could see tears forming in his eyes. "I miss our laughs, our pranks, our sleepovers and you. I miss you y/n. Im so sorry for how I reacted. I understand if you don't forgive me"
"Of Freddie. Of course I will forgive you. I miss you too. I was really hurt when you called me a liar and that we couldn't be friends."
"You'll forgive me?" Fred questioned
"Of course" I replied "promise me you will believe me next time"
"I promise" he said. He picked me up and spun me around before placing me down.
"May I" he asked
"Of course" I replied.
Our lips collided into a deep and passionate kiss, our lips locked perfectly and we stood there for ages. It was the perfect end to a perfect night. I pulled away and I pushed his hair back before pulling him down to kiss his cheek.
We walked back down to the common room. Everyone gathered in there, the ball ended. Me and Fred walked in flirting and talking. I decided to go up to my dorm. I said goodnight to Fred and is pecked my lips. I walked up to my dorm to find and changed into my pyjamas and got ready for bed I climbed into bed about to go to sleep. That's when Hermione walked into our dorm in tears whilst removing her makeup.
"Hermione what's wrong?" I asked. We both sat on my bed.
Hermione told me everything about what happened with Ron. How he accused Hermione of fraternising with the enemy. Hermione had snapped at Ron and they got in a huge fight.
Once she finished I directed her head onto my shoulder. I let her cry onto my shoulder for a while whilst I rubbed her back. About 30 minutes later she got up and got herself ready for bed. Hermione and I fell asleep. About a hour later I woke up. I couldn't get back to sleep so I grabbed my dressing gown and went down to the common room.
I sat in a sofa just staring into the fire. It was so peaceful. I heard a door open and heard someone go down the stairs.
"Fred" I whispered "what are you doing up you should be asleep" I asked.
"So should you" he replied
"Touché" I joked.
"Why are you here" he asked.
"I couldn't sleep. I decided to enjoy the silence of the common room. Why are you up?" I asked.
"I had a instinct that you would be here" he whispered. "May I sit"
"Of course" Fred sat on the sofa next to me. I felt his arms wrap around my waist. He pulled me into a hug. I rested my head on his chest and listened to his heart beat.
We sat there in silence for a couple of minutes.
"You looked really pretty tonight y/n" Fred said, finally breaking the silence.
"And you looked very handsome" I replied
"You looked better"
"Did not"
"Did to"
Fred started to tickle me I burst out laughing but tired to be quiet. Fred finally stopped to say something else to me.
"I wish I took you to the ball tonight" He whispered into my ear. I blushed so hard I could feel the heat in my cheeks.
"I wish you took me to" I whispered back.
We fell back into a silence. I could feel Fred staring at me. But before I could say anything I felt my eyelids close and fell asleep on his chest. His heart beat soothing me to a deep sleep.
Fred's POV:
I was admiring y/n's beauty as she laid on my chest. I missed her too much. I noticed she had fallen asleep on me. Her head fell and rested on my chest.
She looked so cute sleeping she looked comfortable so I decided to not move her. I sat there and played with her beautiful curled hair. I winded it around my fingers and fiddled with it.
I soon felt my eyes close I rested my head on the back of the sofa. I tightened my grip around y/n's waist and I felt myself dose off into a deep sleep. It felt amazing to be friends with y/n again, even though I have deeper feelings.
