The basketball team were on their 5 minutes break and Jihoon was on his way to the toilet but encountered with Y/N and Jeno bickering. "Yes! I do love him? What is it going to be with you?!"
"Enough Jeno enough! I'd enough of you. Always following me around, you can't force someone to love you back! I know that you'd like me for a long time, even the whole school knows about it! I'm so sorry that I can't returned your feelings, you can always find someone better than me."
Jeno eyes caught his as he sent daggers at Jihoon before Y/N she walks away. Jeno approached Jihoon and stop in front of him. "What did you do to Y/N?" He glared at Jeno who lets out a huff and smirks at him. "You got yourself a lover there." He purposely bumped on Jihoon's shoulder while he shoved both his hands in his pocket.
The heartbroken boy didn't even spare a glance when he did that to Jihoon. He continue on his step as he gritted his teeth together, holding himself from letting out his muffles. Jeno eyes went red for holding his tears.
That's when he lost it, he lost another half of his live. And that leaves him with no choice but to went back where he belongs to at the first place.
THE NEXT WEEK
Jeno held a few files in his hands after getting out from the principal's office, he wasn't wearing his school uniform causing the students to wonder why is it so. He made his way towards Y/N's class with his head dropped down.
"Y/N! Someone is looking for you!" Her classmates informed causing Y/N who was in a chinwag with both Yeji and Junkyu looked outside of the class, only to find Jeno who wasn't wearing his school attire.
She furrowed her eyebrows before went in front of him. "Hey lovely." Jeno greeted as Y/N rolled her eyes at his remark. "Why aren't you wearing your school uniform?" She asked feeling curious. "I actually decided to move back to Gwangju." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"You know my dad Y/N. We've been best friend for a few years before I confessed."
"But I'm here not to court you. I'm here to say goodbye, it might be the last time I saw you." Y/N held Jeno's side of his face making their eyes meet, even she could see blush started to crept on his cheeks.
"I never think of you for something bad Jeno-yah. I just dislike it when you chased after me, following me around. You're still my best friend." Y/N comforts as her thumb caressed his cheeks, making Jeno snuggled into her touch.
Y/N let go as Jeno glance on his watch. "I have to go. I have a flight to catch up." He sighs before awkwardly opened his arms. "Last hug?" Y/N engulfed him into a tight hug as he puts his chin on top of her head, inhaling her scent that he probably going to miss.
"Always find me yeah? I know you still have my number since you texted me from time to time." They both chuckled and stay for a few seconds before Jeno let her go. He took a few step back before turned around and leave Y/N who's still on her spot waving at him.
"Goodbye, my first love."
Y/N was playing with her food since she couldn't get her grandmother out of her mind. She would visits her grandmother and everyday she's getting weaker and paler.
"Ryu Y/N!" She snapped out of her thoughts. "What? Did you called me?" She asked. "Yeah. we've been calling your name a few times. Are you okay?" Jihoon asked as she only nodded at his question.
"I almost throw you an apple. You have been poking on your food." Yedam said as he pointed his finger at Jeongwoo. "This guy, he tried to steal your food."
"Your food looks delicious so if you don't mind can you give-" His sentence was interrupted by her phone that rings. It was a call from the hospital.
"Hello Miss Ryu? This is from from Incheon Hospital. We have to talk about your grandmother."
Without even a second thought, Y/N sprinted out from the canteen making her friends shouted at her to come back. She ran towards the exit gate and reached her car. She quickly sped off towards the hospital with tears started to fall.
She knew the time had come, the time that she was really scared of.
The others were still stunned in their seats after Y/N dashed out. Past weeks Y/N was not herself much. She would always dozed off during class, even the teachers started to get worried about her studies. During training, she doesn't play well as always that she was scolded by the coach.
She barely eat at home either, Yedam would always persuade her to eat but she only eat a few bites and sometimes, he heard her crying in her sleep.
Only Yeji knows what really happened, she knows that it's about her grandmother. Y/N told her everything since she feels like she need someone to talk to. "Let's just hope nothing bad happened to her." Yeji said to them.
They hope she's fine, but who knows.
Y/N quickly parked her car and dashed towards her grandmother's room. She stepped into the room and saw a few nurse surrounded her grandmother's bed. The doctor turned around before he asked her to follow him out of the room.
"What's happening? Why did you suddenly called me?"
"She still can be save right?" She asked her hoping some miracle to come. "I-i'm sorry miss. We tried our best." He apologized. The doctor looked at Y/N before continue. "We couldn't save her anymore--" Y/N grabbed his shoulder.
"No! There must be something that you can do! You are a doctor do your job and save her!" Abruptly one of the nurse came out from the room. "Doctor! Doctor!" She panically called him.
"The patient's heartbeat is dropping!" The doctor quickly ran back to the room. She stood at the same spot completely petrified. "No.. Please, not now.." She clasped her hand together, tears streaming down non-stop as she pray and pray.
Soon enough the chaos in the room disappeared. She walked into the room and saw her grandmother's body was covered with white sheet.
"Death, 24th August 2021, 10:43 a.m." Y/N heard those word come out from the doctor's mouth, slowly the reality eating her up.
She fell on her knees before putting a hand on her mouth. "N-no, it c-can't be t-this fast." She muffles. "I'm sorry dear, we already tried our best to save her." The doctor patted her shoulder
Y/N called her parents and asked Yedam to come to the hospital after telling them the news. Yedam rushed towards the hospital and thank god her parents arrived from overseas.
She called Yeji and told her about it. Yeji send her regards and told her to stay strong. Y/N asked her to tell the others that the funeral will be held tomorrow morning. Hyunsuk told his mom and all of them will be excused.
She ran to her mother's embraced. "Mom she's gone, grandma is gone." She cried. "I know sweetie, I know." Her mother choked on her tears. It was a brutal pain for their family, especially for Y/N.
She was crying miserably in front of a new grave as Yedam patted her shoulders trying to calm her down.
"It's going to be okay Y/N, she will be fine up there." All of them tried to calm her down but no one success, yet. "He was right. She will be sad if you continue to be like this. You wouldn't want that right?" Her mom hugged her.
After the funeral, all of the guests started to part their ways. She was thankful for them who come for the last respect, even some of her teachers came.
Her mother come closer to Y/N and held her shoulder. "Y/N, I have to go now." She only nodded and stare at her grandmother's grave. She had stopped crying and currently was on her lowest state.
Her parents kissed her forehead and went straight towards the airport. Even family big matters, they can't delay their business.
Slowly remain Y/N, Jihoon and Yedam. Yedam told her that he will wait in the car. Jihoon hugged Y/N from the behind, causing her to fall on his chest. She turned to him slipping her arms around his torso and place her head on his chest.
"Jihoon-ah, how am I supposed to live if she's gone?" His arms secured around her shoulder as he rubbed it hoping that it will consoles her . "It's okay. I will stay beside you. You're a strong girl." He smiles down at the girl who still look beautiful even after she cried.
"Promise?" She sniffed. Jihoon kissed her forehead for a few seconds as he hug her closer.
"Promise."
