~present day~
I was in bed just about to go sleep when I heard a gut wrenching scream and I knew it was Everleigh, I got out of my bed and sprinted to her room, once I opened the door I seen dodger curled up next to her trying to wake her up but she kept saying stuff.
E- stop, stop please
I ran over to her and pulled her into my arms and tried to wake her up
E- No get off me! Get off!!!!!
That's when she shot up with tears streaming down her face hyperventilating trying to take in her surrounds and trying to process she's not where she thought she was.
C- Ev?
She looked at me with panic written all over her face.
So I grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.
C- it's okay baby, your okay, I'm here.
E- I-it was s-so r-r-real 'sobbing into the crook of my neck'
C- I know baby I know, your safe I've got you I'm not going anywhere.
We sat like this for about 25-30 minutes and it was currently 2:30am. Ev finally calmed down and she was laying on my chest while I was stroking her hair.
C- do you want to talk about it baby?
She shook her head gripping onto my t-shirt even tighter than she was before
C- shhhhhh....shhhhh... it's okay.
I was still stroking her hair when she finally spoke up.
E- it was my dad.
I didn't know what to say when i thought of her dad I pictured all the things he could have done to her and I didn't want to, whatever he did to her must have really scared her for Ev to have a nightmare like this.
E- he was hitting me kicking and slapping me because I came home late from school just trying to work on a stupid project 'she lets out sobs'.
C- it's okay baby he's not going to get you, your safe with me I won't let anything happen to you okay.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing I was absolutely livid how on earth can someone do that to a young girl especially your own daughter it's disgusting.
C- why don't you get some sleep Ev.
E- stay wait me!.... Please.
C- of course baby I'm not going anywhere.
With that Everleigh fell asleep in my arms and not long after I did as-well.
I woke up with the sun shining through the window, I look over at the clock and it was just past 7am. I look down and see Everleigh peacefully sleeping in my arms. I slowly got up not trying to wake her and out a pillow in her arms which she quickly gripped onto, I made my way downstairs and started to make breakfast for her, pancakes with blueberries and strawberries because I know she likes eating health foods.
I wake up from my sleep and see dodger at the foot of my bed and no Chris, I was a little disappointed not seeing him when I woke up but it was okay he was probably busy. I dangle my feet over the edge of my bed and dodger comes and placed his head on my lap.
E- hey boy... I love you.
I start scratching behind his ears before I get up and walk down to the kitchen, when I get there I see Chris putting pancakes with strawberries,blueberries and orange juice on the table.
C- hey how you feeling?
E- yeah I'm good thank you?
C- yeah I'm good, I made some breakfast for you that's why I slipped out this morning.
E- oh no it's fine, I really appreciate this thank you.
C- anything for my favourite girl.
We sit at the table and I grab two pancakes with a handful of each fruit and when I tell you they were good pancakes that tasted heavenly who new the Chris Evans k is how to cook.
E- wow these.. these are amazing, since when could you cook this good.
C- I'll try not to be offended.. I've always been able to cook I just don't as much.
E- well there incredible.
C- good to know, anyway our family are coming over today how are you feeling about it?
E- I mean I'm excited to meet them but I'm nervous what if they don't like me.
C- hey don't think like that they will love you especially Scott.
E- I hope so.... When we fly out to Atlanta what do we do when we get there?
C- umm so we will go to the hotel get settled in then when we go onto set I'll introduce you to everyone, you'll be in my trailer most of the time but you will be allowed to come sit behind the set.
E- that so cool I'm excited to meet everyone and see how the whole thing works.
C- it's pretty exciting especially being in the production it's just so much fun. You know how to said you do acting in front of the mirror what do you mean by it?
E- oh umm... I get old scripts up and I try and portray the character as I think they should be portrayed as, the only reason I do it in the mirror is to look at my facial expressions.
C- wow that cool have you ever thought about taking it further like going for auditions?
E- oh no definitely not I don't think I could I feel like the nerves would eat me up.
C- nonsense I think you'd be good you just have to believe in yourself. How about when I get my scrip through which should be sometime this week we can go through it and see what you can do?
E- yeah I would really like to do that, I would like your opinion even though I might make a fool out of myself.
C- we all make a fool out of ourselves once in a while it's totally normal.
Okay it's nearly 9:30 so go get dressed that family will be here soon.
E- okay okay I'm going.
I run upstairs get in the shower dry and straighten my hair and for my outfit I wear a flowery blue ruched tee and washed blacked ripped jeans, I but some light makeup on just concealer and mascara then make my way back downstairs.
C- wow don't you look nice.
E- thanks da- Chris. You look lovely yourself.
We sit on the sofa have a conversation about random stuff for 5 minutes then we hear the door knock and I start to get a little nervous.
C- I'll get it. Don't worry they'll love you.
Chris walks over to the door and I stand up making my way over slowly, he opens the door and I hear a mix of hi's and hey's then they give Chris a hug one by one walking through the door.
C- so everyone this is my daughter Everleigh.
C- hey I'm Carly 'walking over and shaking my hand'
S- I'm Shanna your auntie.
E- it's lovely to meet you both.
S- hiya i'm Scott your favourite cool uncle. 'Whispers' the one who's gonna help you full all the pranks on Chris.
I give off a slight chuckle as Scott brings me into a hug.
L- hello sweetie I'm lisa your grandmother I'm so happy your apart of our family.
E- it's great to meet you all I'm so glad that's I am apart of your family.
L- oh come here sweetie.
I walk over to Lisa and she pulls me into the heartwarming safe hug.
C- okay ma let her breath.
L- I'm just so excited to meet my granddaughter.
E- aha it's fine.
S- so Everleigh tell us a bit about yourself.
When Shanna says that my panic kicks in and I look at Chris not knowing what to say.
C- you don't have to if you don't want to Ev. 'Reassuring me'
S- oh i'm so sorry I should never have asked.
E- no it's fine don't worry about it.
C- how about we all sit down.
We walk over to the chairs and I sit next to Chris for suppose and Scott comes and sits next to me while Lisa sits in the singular chair and Carly and Shanna sit on the other.
E- well i am 14 for starters, I was in the orphanage for 2 years after I umm.....got taken away from my father as he went to prison for..... certain things and I lost my umm I lost my m-mother when I was 12.
I start to get upset talking about my mother because we were so close and she would do anything to try and protect me when she was there. Chris had noticed me getting upset so he took me hand squeezing it and showing me a smile with I returned gratefully.
L- oh I'm so sorry dear that must have been so hard for you.
She looks at you with sympathy and you give her a weak smile trying to contain your tears.
S- what are your hobbies?
E- umm I do some acting and exercising.
C- oh wow joining your dad in the acting business.
C- don't forget your a great singer as-well.
E- I'm really not but whatever makes you happy.
Everyone let's put a chuckle including Chris. We sit there for hours on end talking about anything that came up, I really enjoyed meeting my family today I feel really welcomed and loved by them all and it's only been such a short space if time, I'm so grateful I got the opportunity to be in a family like this.
S- we are leaving now Ev-Everleigh.
E- you can call me Ev if you want. 'Giving Scott a wide smile'
S- well Ev here is my phone number just in case you ever need me or you just need to get away from your dad I'm always a call away.
C- what makes you think she'll want to leave me I'm awesome.
S- okay then big bro.
E- uh thank you Scott I will make sure to use it.
We all say our goodbyes and I walk back over to the sofa let out a dramatic sigh and flip down.
C- you okay?
E- yeah just exhausted that's all you?
C- yeah I'm good, so what did you think?
E- I really enjoyed meeting them they all seem so wonderful and kind. I really appreciate having an opportunity being apart of your family, everyone's just so protective of each other and you all care about each other so much.
C- I'm glad your happy about being sort of this family I dont know what I would do without you, my life has changed in the few days of you being here, you have made me a happier person and I couldn't thank you enough for that. I love you Ev.
E- I love you too... Dad.
