"yeah,i'll be there in like ten or fifteen minutes....yeah i know,he's probably gonna make me run...alright,bye."
keith hung up the phone as he looked out his window for kilani.

after a few seconds, kilani appeared from the field and into the parking lot, jogging to keith's car.

he unlocked the doors, allowing her to put her bag in the back and hop in the front seat.

keith drove off as he headed for her apartment complex, driving somewhat recklessly.

"woah."
kilani mumbled as keith stopped at the stop sign roughly before continuing.

"are you..in a rush? or something?"
she asked as she put her seatbelt on.

keith chuckled as he made a left turn.
"uh yeah kinda. i was supposed to be at practice at one,so i'm running kinda behind."

kilani glanced at the dashboard, looking at the time.

1:09pm

"i'm just gonna drop you off really quick and get there. he's probably gonna make me run but whatever."
he shrugged.

kilani hummed.
"i don't mind."
she told him.

"mind what?"
he asked glancing over at her.

"sitting in the car. if you wanna get there a little bit earlier. i need to practice anyways."
she shrugged.

keith looked at her staggered.
"i'm already gonna be late regardless. you don't have to-"

"really it's okay. i don't mind."
she assured him.

keith sighed before shrugging, taking a right turn instead of left, heading for the field.

kilani hummed the song on the radio as keith stole glances at her, before pulling into the parking lot.

keith turned,unbuckling his seatbelt.
"i'll leave the car unlocked in case you wanna come back. we should be done in like two hours at the most."

keith hopped out the car, grabbing his bag as he sprinted towards the field, leaving kilani in the car.

"you're late."
coach told him as he slowed down, arriving at the track.

"i know. i know,i had to do something-"

"don't care. you know what to do. when you're done, drills."
coach said putting his hands on his waist, walking back to his team.

keith sighed lowly as he dropped his bag, beginning his long run around the track.

he felt his feet carry him around the track, counting each lap as the padding of his feet kept him at the same pace.

as keith was on his fourth and final lap,he peered over at the parking lot, watching kilani hop out the car with a soccer ball in her hand, walking towards the empty part of the field.

keith breathed rapidly as he slowed down his pace, meeting the rest of his team i. the track.

"how many laps?"
kari asked as he slipped his gloves on one hand.

"four."
keith breathed out as he put his hands on his knees.

"damn."
one of keith's friends mumbled as he stood straight up.

"that's not bad. only four?"
keith said as he looked at him.

he shook his head off.
"i wasn't talking about you."
he said.

"who is the fine honey on the other side of the field?"
he chuckled,looking behind keith.

keith turned around, noticing kilani on the other side of the field, dribbling a ball.

"please,lord forgive me for looking-"

"nigga,you wrong."
kari shoved him.
"that's keith girl."

he cocked his eyebrows.
"that's your girl? for real?"
he asked.

"is your girl single?"
he asked,looking back at kilani.

keith shook his head.
"she's not my girl. we're just...friends."
he shook his head.

"oh,we're just friends."
kari mocked him in a stupid voice.

keith shook his head with a laugh as he slipped his cleats on,running onto the field.

an hour and a half later, keith was finally finished with his practice, and kilani had fallen asleep on the bleachers.

after a whole hour of drills and practicing, she had sat down to catch her breath, only to doze off a few minutes later.

"hey,you ready?"
keith asked, walking up to her, pulling his duffel bag on.

keith yawned as he waited for a reply.
"kilani?"
he stated.

keith walked further up to the bleachers, only to realize that kilani had fallen asleep.

"kilani?"
he said a little louder, making her stir in her sleep.

"what?"
she turned.
"what time is it?"

"it's past three. you fell asleep on the bleachers, come on so i can take you home."
he explained.

"ok."
she whispered, stirring in her sleep before dosing off again.

"kilani."
he asked.
"did you hear what i said. i gotta take you home."

kilani snored lightly as keith yawned again, sighing as he shook his head, coming up behind her.

"come on."
he said helping her up.
"get on my back."

kilani groaned as keith pulled her into his back, keeping her up.

"let's go."
he said before carrying them both to his car in the parking lot, sitting her in the seat before hopping in.

keith drive slowly to kilani apartment complex, peeking out the window at students as he made it to her building.

"we're here?"

keith peered over at kilani, noticing that she had awoken and yawned in the seat.

"yup."
he stated.
"you're here."

kilani stretched in her seat before looking over at keith.
"thank you."

keith nodded as she hopped out of the car, grabbing her bag from the back before leaning in the window.

"i hope i wasn't too much trouble."
she shrugged, making his shake his head.

"not at all."
he shook his head.
"although i do think the guys on my team are fighting over you"

kilani chuckled nervously as she shrugged.
"oh,yeah i guess. i think they're just being nice."

keith sent a small smile her way, knowing that if she heard the way they were speaking of her,she probably wouldn't feel that way.

"why are you so...nice?"
he asked, genuinely confused on how someone could be so sweet.

kilani shrugged shyly with a grin.
"i don't know."
she mumbled.

"we need to work on toughening you up."
he said.
"have you ever gotten into a fight?"

kilani's face fell as she shook her head slowly.

he hummed.
"it wouldn't hurt to start training."
he suggested.

"i don't wanna fight anybody. i don't like seeing people get hurt."
she told him.

keith sighed.
"oh god. you are about as dangerous as a paper clip."

kilani smiled with her lips,as she peered at keith through the window.

"hey, now that we know each other somewhat, are you still down to go to the fair this weekend? you can bring your friends."
he mentioned.

beautiful suddenly remembered the event he had previously invited her to,and immediately got excited.

"of course! i've never been to a fair before so-"

"what!"
keith yelled as his mouth fell open, making kilani laugh.

"what do you mean?"
he asked.

she shrugged.
"i don't know. my parents just never took me."

"we got a lot to work on with you. a lot."
he nodded.

"anyways your friends can come and i'll even set aside a ticket for your boyfriend."
he tapped her.

"i don't have a boyfriend."

keith hummed as he looked down at his phone.

"you bring your friends and i'll bring mine. sunday at five?"
he asked.

kilani nodded with a smile before her smile suddenly fell, making her shoulders slump.

"i cant. i just realized i cant go,i'm sorry."
she moped.

beautiful had only just now remembered her date with Damon on Sunday, therefore, her schedule was full.

"i have to...do this thing."
she sighed disappointedly.
keith nodded.

"what, you gotta meet up with the girls for drinks?"
he joked.
"date night?"

kilani sighed upset as she rubbed her forehead.
"i just can't. maybe another day?"

keith shrugged.
"whatever works for you i guess."

kilani pined as she ignored his gaze.
"i'm sorry-"

"it's not your fault."
he reminded.
"stop apologizing kilani."

kilani nodded as she lifted her self off of his car window.
"i'll see you monday?"

"nine o clock."
he said, putting his car into drive before slowly cruising away.

-

kilani trudged into her apartment complex, legs sore as she pulled out her keys, unlocking the front door.

she pushed it open with her foot before entering the apartment, letting the door shut behind her.

"hey! i'm making Alfredo for dinner. i know it's kinda early but i thought why not get started now."
remedy said greeting her.

kilani groaned as she slid the white nikes of her feet, leaving them by the mat.

"why not. i'm so hungry,i haven't eaten since this morning."
she noted,walking into the kitchen.

"do you need any help-"

"god no! please don't touch anything."
she stopped her before going back to the task at hand.

beautiful smiled as she thought about the multiple times she had ruined their dinners because she tried to 'help'

remedy shook her head as she seasoned the shrimp in the bowl.

"lord knows, you can't cook for the life of you. please don't fuck this up for both of us."

kilani shrugged.
"i'll try."
she smirked.

before remedy could reply, the lock on the front door shook before the door opened, revealing sincere.

remedy's eyes rolled to the back of her head as she went back to what she was doing.

sincere returned the same energy as she slipped her shoes of at the door, glaring at her as she walked past to go to her room.

"you know, rent is due tomorrow! if you're gonna live here the least you could do is pay your dues. you're not special, you're just like everybody fucking else!"
remedy shouted as sincere slammed the door shut.

"bitch."
remedy mumbled under her breath as she added the shrimp to the pan.

"you two still haven't talked it out-"

"nope, and i'm not gonna be the first one to do so. that may be petty, but at the end of the day,she started it. she needs to apologize,to you mainly."
she stated.

kilani sighed exhausted as she leaned on the counter.

she hated arguing, especially with the people she loved.

her and sincere has never gotten into an argument,so it was just her luck that one time they did,it was huge.

"i just want this to all pass. i wanna have a good year and have fun,but without the drama."
kilani clarified.

"well i mean, this is college. you kinda signed up for that when you applied."
remedy shrugged.

"but i get what you're saying."
she clarified.
"this whole arguing bullish it is unnecessary. i wish somebody! would realize that."
she said putting emphasis.

kilani nodded as she stretched her neck back and forth, trying to get out the knots.

"i'm gonna go get ready to shower. call me when it's ready."
she said before walking into her room.

kilani threw her bag down on the floor, before entering her closet, finding something to wear to sleep.

she settles with a pair of pajama shorts with a black hoodie, since she always wanted the temperature low and the fan on.

kilani sat o. the floor, not wanting to get her bed dirty as she opened her phone, scrolling through social media.

as she was watching her mutuals snapchat stories,a notification popped up on her screen.

keith davis just followed you.

kilani hummed before clicking on the notification as it took her to his instagram profile.

she watched the numbers pop up on the screen as her eyes went wide.

"twenty thousand followers?"
she mumbled as she clicked on one of his many photos.

unlike most girls, kilani wasn't the type to lurk. although she was an observer, she did feel somewhat weird snooping around in other people's personal business.

(a/n: couldn't be me. i'm nosey as a mf.)

kilani read the caption on the post,it was a picture of keith and two guys next to him, while a group of other guys stood behind them.

it looked like they were in a fancy restaurant, and they all has dress shirts and pants on.

the caption read,
happy twenty first kari. three years in and hopefully more to come, you're getting old. let's have a good time tonight💪🏼.

kilani felt somewhat intimidated, considering keith had thousands on followers and she barely had a couple hundred.

not to mention the fact that keith's likes were booming while kilani didn't even have one post.

kilani was never into social media much anyways, she tried to steer clear from large social networks, even though she cracked sometimes.

kilani's thumb hovered over the screen as she contemplated liking the photo.

"stop."
she mumbled as she closed the app, tossing her phone on the floor before heading to the bathroom.
