the door behind them clicked open to find seungmin's father exiting out of his office only to stop and glance at the two who were already hand in hand.
he smiled, "i see you've met each other already."
seungmin looked back to find hyunjin still interlocking his hands with him and yanked away them apart with a disgusted look on his face. the tint of blush not going unnoticed.
"what the hell!?i don't even know him dad!" seungmin faced his father, unable to look at hyunjin after their unexpected skinship.
"calm down son. if you don't know each other then i expect you to start introducing yourselves since hyunjin is going to look after you from now on."
"your making me sound like a kid who can't take care of himself.." the embarrassment seeped through seungmin's system as he looked down, annoyed.
"well, that is true—"
"dad!"
his father chuckled and looked up to hyunjin who remained silent with the same emotionless figure he kept the moment he was introduced.
"you're aware of everything right?" he asked hyunjin, only getting a nod in response.
"good. i'll get going now." he glanced towards seungmin one last time, "be kind to him, seungmin." he ordered before turning away and fading from their view.
seungmin of course heard him and watched his figure disappear from his view. it was all silent except for the footsteps that gradually decreased from their hearing.
the sudden bell ringing was louder than usual because of the empty hallways.
seungmin felt a smirk form on his lips as he started sprinting the opposite direction of where hyunjin stood.
for once, he thought he could run away from his father's responsibilities. he reached the classroom he was supposed to be attending and saw the crowds of students exiting out. there is no way he could find me in these crowded halls he thought.
he dashed between the crowds and caught sight of his bestfriend between them all. his face lit up as he immediately ran towards him.
felix had to stop the conversation between him and jeongin to glance at the male who was panting with his hands on his knees. he was all flushed and sweating as if he just ran a mile,
"seungmin? you okay?"
seungmin finally stood straight to face him, "i have no time to explain. can we talk somewhere else—"
"the only place you'll be allowed to go right now, is the cafeteria." the honey laced voice made seungmin flinch. he could easily read his friend's confused and shocked expressions as he turned around to find hyunjin looking down at him.
how'd he even catch up to me? he internally questioned but knew it was pointless to ask. instead he focused on ignoring the male.
"let's go to the roof." he suggested, dragging his friends out of the classroom only to be stopped by a hand placed on his shoulder.
"i'm afraid you didn't hear me. i said the only place you'll be allowed to go is—"
"the cafeteria, yea i know." seungmin interrupted, rolling his eyes as he could already predict what the male was intending to say.
"hey seungmin, what's going on? and who's he?" jeongin asked making seungmin even more annoyed.
"nobody, hes just—"
"i'm his bodyguard." hyunjin answered for seungmin.
"pffftt- a bodyguard? seungmin, you didn't tell me you were going to get a babysitter-" felix tried to hold back his laughter but eventually failed as he laughed right in the middle of the hallways.
seungmin's rage was growing by the second and it hadn't been even an hour with his new bodyguard. there was no way he could keep up with this for any longer.
"ugh, shut up felix. your not helping." felix temporarily stopped laughing.
which now made seungmin glare at the male who stood in front of him, not even a trace of emotions appeared on him. "and you, leave me alone. you don't have to look after me like i'm some kid. i'm in high school for peace sake!"
"but your father-"
"my dad is an asshole. you can never reach his expectations of anything because he's always ungrateful and always wants it perfect. so if your trying to be one of those kiss ups, i suggest you give up and go do whatever you please."
he didn't give the chance for the male to reply and continued dragging his friends out of the hallways and towards the cafeteria.
felix noticed how angry seungmin looked and was quite surprised on his behavior and so was jeongin. usually he'd be extremely sweet to new people but why was he being so mean to his bodyguard?
once they reached the cafeteria, seungmin angrily let go of their wrists and sat down at his seat, furiously opening his book and burying himself in it.
felix and jeongin quietly sat down next to him, knowing the male was pissed caused them to be careful with their actions. felix and seungmin were friends from pre-school until they met jeongin in the freshmen year. they were friends ever since then and could easily read each other's moods.
"minnie, calm down..you seem so-..pissed." felix spoke softly, hesitantly placing his hand on the males shoulder.
"yeah..and don't you think your being a bit too mean to that bodyguard of yours..?" jeongin said, also leaning in to the male.
"he deserves it! why would anyone even agree on being a stupid bodyguard just to follow me around! it just shows how my father doesn't even trust his own son.." his voice lowered at each word, sounding more depressed from the voice crack caused by the lump in his throat.
felix started lightly petting the males back to calm him down as jeongin hummed a soft tune to him. "it's gonna be okay minnie.."
seungmin sniffled back his tears and slowly sat up straight thanks to the help of his friends. he was going to thank them for the support but a loud slam on the table caught all of their attention.
hyunjin pushed the plate of food towards seungmin, taking his arms back to cross them over his chest as his face still showed no expression whatsoever.
felix and jeongin shuffled back into their seats as seungmin ignored the male standing in front of them, only to focus on the book he was reading.
hyunjin noticed the male's red button nose and teary eyes which had tears in them and sighed. he sat right in front of him and pushed the tray further towards him.
"hurry up and eat or i'll tell your father that you've been skipping meals." he said.
seungmin cursed at his attractive honey laced voice that could possibly get anybody on their knees for him but his personality was the complete opposite.
he tsked and continued to ignore the male only to receive a nudge on the shoulder by none other than his best friend, felix.
he rolled his eyes and slid the tray in front of him, anger still visible on his face. he angrily took off the lid of the plastic box and grabbed the fork placed next to it.
the fork pierced into leaves of lettuce and a few tomatoes that were all seasoned and greased. he munched into the food and had to stop for a minute while chewing only to realize the food had tasted way better than he'd expected.
although he was pissed on how good it tasted, he quickly finished the rest of his food and slid it back towards hyunjin who glanced at the empty and used used utensils.
it only then came to him to realize that hyunjin had actually been staring at him while he was eating and cursed at the food tasting too good for him to even noticed.
he was creeped out by this action but continued to flip through the pages of the book in his hands.
his attempts to focus on what he was reading was disturbed repeatedly due to the fact that he always used to feel hyunjin's gaze fixed at him and nothing else.
he had to remind himself that he would have to get used to the fact that hyunjin was his bodyguard and therefore would have all eyes on him.
it was something hard to accept even though he was used to getting attention because of his popularity, it still felt creepy to have a certain person assigned just to look after him.
"are you gonna stop staring at me?" he asked, already tired of hyunjin's presence even if all he did was glare at seungmin and watch his every action.
"why? does it bother you?"hyunjin asked.
"yes. yes it does. i thought my father said you aren't gonna follow me around and just be a normal student like every other student here."
"but i don't know which class you are in. i cant trust you unless i know where you are." he spoke blankly.
seungmin internally groaned and fished out his phone from the back of his pocket. "here, i'll just send you my schedule. give me your number."
hyunjin nodded and typed in his number in seungmins phone. not too long after he received a notification on his own phone of the males schedule.
"there. it's done..can you leave me alone now?" he sounded desperate at that point.
hyunjin nodded before standing up from his seat. "i'll send you my schedule too. so if there is anything you need you'll know where to find me."
"yeah yeah whatever." i won't be needing you anytime soon he thought.
hyunjin turned around and walked away from the table, his lips somehow turning upwards into a crooked smile as he approached the table not too far from seungmins.
there sat a male with his blue bangs covering his eyes as his fingers fiddled with his phone. he immediately glanced up at the male who came up to him.
his arms engulfed hyunjin into a hug as he buried himself in the males chest. hyunjin didn't react and had his hands to himself before the male pulled out and pecked him on the cheek as the two walked out of the cafeteria together.
seungmin watched the two exit and couldn't help but grow more curious on who the blue haired male was.
he had to admit, being popular was hard. everybody knew him but he hardly knew everyone. he didn't have a large friend circle like any other popular person would and rather had a smaller one because he feared people would use him for popularity.
although he didn't know who hyunjin walked out with, he did want to know who he was.but then it hit him. realization.
why do i even care..
