"Uh… I don't know." I chuckled nervously.

"Why do you sound so nervous?" She narrowed her eyes at me.

"Mom, it's okay. We can't be certain she's pregnant. And if she is, I'm sure it's my child, right Imogen?" He asked and I nodded.

"You should definitely do a pregnancy test to confirm if she's pregnant because if she's not then it's probably a serious illness. I'll take my leave."

"Wait!" I rose to my feet. "What do you mean by you'll be a grandmother again?" I only heard that clearly. "As far as I know, Hames is your only child."

"Oh, he hasn't told you?" She glanced at him.

"No, he hasn't told me anything." I held her arms. "What is he supposed to tell me that he hasn't? What's going on?"

They shared a glance at each other again then burst into laughter. "Calm down. Hames isn't my only child. He has a sister."

"A dog, Mom."

"Whatever." She rolled her eyes. "And she has had a lot of puppies." She clarified and I sighed in relief.

"I can't believe my baby is having a baby." Hames wrapped his arms around me, rubbing my tummy.

"You can't be certain. If she's three months pregnant, she should be having a bump already but still nothing. Just go to the hospital for a test. I'm running late. Goodbye." She stared at me suspiciously before taking her leave.

"That probably explains the mood swings you've been having."

"You know she thinks I cheated on you, right?" I folded my arms across my chest.

"So what?" He turned me to face him, still keeping his arms around my waist. "I'm sure you didn't cheat on me, I trust you. You shouldn't care about others. We'll go for a pregnancy test when you're ready."

"I can't be pregnant, it makes no sense."

"Why not? You don't want to have my children?"

"No, I… I don't know… I…"

He frowned, letting go of me. "So you really don't want to bear our children,"

"I… I'm so confused. Let's just take this test then we'll know whether or not I'm pregnant."

"She doesn't want to have my child." He scoffed and walked away.

"You said it yourself, I didn't."

"I'm so nervous." I rubbed my sweaty palms together.

"Why?"

"I really don't know. Many reasons."

"Let's just wait for the results. There's nothing to be scared about at all."

The door opened and the middle-aged Doctor strolled in with a straight face that increased my nervousness.

"Hey, Doctor. Do you have the results?" Hames asked.

"Yes, I do." She raised the envelope and sauntered to us, taking out what I assumed was the test reports, from the envelope. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix, you're 14 weeks pregnant." She smiled.

"14 weeks?!" He grinned, pulling the woman into a hug. "Thank you so much for giving us this news, Doctor Kate."

She giggled. "I'm so happy for you."

"I'm still confused."

"Of course you'll be." He rolled his eyes. "What's so hard to understand that we'll be parents in 6 months? You don't look happy."

"If it has anything to do with the menstrual period, there was also a woman who thought she was one month pregnant after missing her period for 8 days but realized she was actually 7 months pregnant. Please register for antenatal and you'll have an appointment five weeks later for an ultrasound. We'll know how your baby is doing and the gender of the baby or babies."

"It can be twins?" Hames was clearly a billion times happier than ever.

"Yes, possibly."

"I hope so. Let's get going, sweetheart." He helped me to my feet.

We received the test report and other necessary things we needed to know and needed to collect from the Doctor before we left the hospital building.

"You don't seem happy at all." Hames asked, opening the car door for me. I got into the backseat then he followed suit, instructing the driver to start the car.

"I'm happy." I forced a smile.

"That's an obvious lie." He slipped his phone out of his pocket, wearing a cold face that made him look more like Mr. Hendrix than Hames. I hated seeing him this way.

"I definitely am." I held his arm, resting my head on his shoulder. "I'm simply scared."

"Scared of what?"

"Everything."

He held my hand, intertwined our fingers and placed a kiss on my knuckles. "There's no need to be scared."

"Why wouldn't I be? I don't think I'm ready to be a mother. What if I'm not a good mother? The stress, the pain, everything about it bothers me. How will I survive having a tiny human growing in my tummy? How do I raise a child?"

"You've survived three months carrying our baby in your womb." He placed his hand on my tummy. "You didn't realize it, the remaining 6 months would be better.

"I'm very sure you'll be the best and perfect mom in the world like you've been the perfect wife for me, and I'll always be by your side."

"Not until you decide to travel again for two months but end up spending five months then when you return, BOOM, a baby."

He laughed, resting his head on mine. "I'll always be by your side,I promise. I can quit work just to remain by your side, if you want." He kissed my forehead.

I sighed. "Thinking about it stresses me out."

"Then don't think about it, just let it happen. You have me. We'll try our best to be the best parents in the world."

"Thank you. I don't think I'd have ever found such a caring and perfect husband." I hugged him. "I love you."

"I love you too and love you more for being the mother of my unborn baby."

***

"Don't you think it's a little too early to start buying stuff for the baby?" I asked Hames.

"Nope." He replied.

"I mean, we don't even know the gender of the baby."

"That's why I bought unisex items and we'll continue buying them till we figure out our beautiful princess or prince's gender, then we'd let our family members know about the big news."

"And the internet and stuff?"

"Nah, that can wait till later."

"Your Mom already knows."

"Nope. I told her you're ill and the doctor has prescribed medication for you, not pregnancy."

I smiled. "I can't wait to see the expression on their faces, especially Nikita's." I chuckled.

"We'd make beautiful babies." He held my hand.

"Oh no, what if my baby is ugly because my husband is extremely ugly? How can such a beautiful woman like me have such an ugly person like Hames as her husband?" I joked, making a fake sad face.

"Keep lying to yourself. We all know the truth. You're so proud to have such a hot husband every woman wants, even his best friend. And no child of mine can ever be ugly." I chuckled, feeling happier than ever.

"Mine neither. It doesn't change the fact that you're so ugly." I kept my arm around his. "When do we get to this extraordinary store you told me about?"

"Very soon, my love." He grinned at me. "I don't feel comfortable with you walking. You're supposed to be carried in something like a Royal palanquin."

I burst into laughter. "I'm fine with walking, though I can feel the tiredness, it's okay. Oh, I see the store." I pointed at a store across the road with a cute plastic baby on its roof.

"Yup, that's it."

While staring at the eye-catching store, I bumped into someone.

"Gosh, I'm so sorry." I apologized to the pregnant woman I just bumped into. She was holding a cute little boy with attractive black hair and mesmerizing chestnut eyes like that of his mother. "Wow, he's so cute."

"It's good to finally meet you in person." The woman said, drawing my attention back to her.

"Uh? Me?"

"Yes." She smirked at Hames, "What's up baby daddy, how 'you doing?"

"Samantha!" Hames said through gritted teeth.
