*Destiny has just hit 1k votes, I want to thank everyone who thought my story was good enough to vote.

The two 17-year old thieves stared down 6-guards, after being caught attempting to steal a statue from a heavily guarded gallery, after their loot had been snatched out from under them. Some had drawn their batons, while others were wielding tasers. Two of them, were the guards Louie had pickpocketed earlier for generally being asses, luckily they didn't seem to recognise him.

"Wait a second..." - Louie said with fake realisation. - "This isn't our hotel."

"No it is not." - Maria smiled, joining in on the act.

The guards weren't having though. - "You think you're being funny?" - One spat, aiming his taser directly at Louie's chest.

"I think I'm being hilarious."

Another guard snarled. - "Do you know what I think is hilarious, the sight of you and your little girlfriend here being hauled off in chains."

"Now hold on a second. She's not my girlfriend." - Louie argued, earning a laugh from Maria.

"That's what you always say, and then in a week, we'll be back together."

"No, we're done for good." - He repeated. Earning another laugh.

"You always say this, but-"

"No, I'm serious, we're done fo-"

"Enough!" - A guard shouted. - "You two are going to jail, it doesn't matter if you're together or not!"

The two sighed. And Louie turned his head towards Maria. - "How do you wanna handle this?"

In the blink of an eye, the woman retrieved a smoke pellet from her utility belt and threw it at the ground, a large cloud of smoke enveloping the area, giving the two a chance to escape. They sprinted past the blinded guards into the hallway behind them, Louie could hear approaching guards and knew in the next 10-minutes, the two would be surrounded by the cities police.

Taking a sharp left, Louie motioned for Maria to follow, he was leading her back to the window he'd opened, when he first broke in.

Finding it, Louie clambered out on to the sill, raising his wrist, he fired his third grapple line of the night, which dug into the building, Louie had been waiting on just an hour or so ago. But before he could leap out and escape into the shadows, Maria spotted something on one of the other roofs.

"Look!" - Following her outstretched finger, Louie spotted the tentacle-masked freak who had swiped the Icarus idol from under him.

"Ari, leave it, we gotta get out of here."

Maria took another look at her rival, before turning to her Ex. - "Run if you want Lou, but I'm not leaving here empty handed." - Before Louie could argue with her, she had slipped through the little gap, he'd left in the window and scaled the drainpipe onto the roof.

Louie glanced at the building across the street, knowing he could still slip away, live to steal another day. - "Dammit Ari." - He muttered. Recalling the wire back into his gauntlet, before following her up onto the roof.

For a second he didn't see them, before spotting the two's silhouettes up on another roof, Maria hot on the mystery thief's tail.

He sprinted after them, leaping onto an air conditioning unit, and using the extra height it gave him to jump onto the higher roof. From his higher angle, he could see Maria just manage to catch up to their rival, kicking their legs out from under them.

Instead of tripping, like a normal person would, the crook displayed their superhuman flexibility by bending in a way which would be impossible for someone with bones. Before they landed on their left hand before cartwheeling back onto their feet.

Louie by now had caught up to the two, taking Maria's side in a standoff against their rival.

"Two against one, I don't think this is a fair fight, how about you give up that trinket that rightfully belongs to me, and we'll let you leave with your dignity."

"Says who?" - His rival remarked in a ghostly sounding voice.

"I do, Fish-Face!" - Louie barked.

"It's Jellyfish!"

"Well that certainly explains why you're so flexible." - He smirked. - "You've got no bones, I should have guessed that by the lack of your spine!"

Jellyfish growled, it sounding particular eerily due to the voice-changer the thief was using.

"And what's with the costume?" - Maria joined in on insisting their adversary. - "You know we're not in a comic book right?"

Fed up with the insults, Jellyfish advanced on the two, leaping forward with a head kick that both teens just managed to avoid, Louie used an opening in his enemy's defence to attempt an attack, but his punch just sunk into their flesh.

While Louie was confused on how he was supposed to fight this opponent. Jellyfish spun around and stuck him, knocking him a few feet back, before they turned on Maria.

Louie who was recovering from the sudden attack, quickly deduced that punches and kicks weren't going to get him anyway, Jellyfish could simply brush off the attacks, he need to beat him another way. Suddenly an idea came to him.

Maria was coming to the same conclusion as Louie, as every hit she landed on Jellyfish, simply sunk into their body, before they struck back twice as hard. On her last attack, her enemy caught her foot, mid-kick and used it to throw her across the roof, she rolled onto her back, seeing Jellyfish stomp over to her, intent on finishing the job, before Louie shouted something.

"Hey Octopus-Eyes catch!"

The top half of Jellyfish's body swivelled around. - "It's Jellyfish!" - They bellowed, on reflex catching what was thrown at them. Which turned out to be a mini flash-grenade.

With an ear-ringing pop, the device activated, leaving Jellyfish temporarily blind and deaf, which gave Louie enough of a chance to swoop in and snatch the bag and subsequently idol, the thief was carrying.

Maria stumbled back onto her feet, and Louie ran over to her, helping her up. - "You okay?"

"I'm fi- Louie watch out!"

Turning, Louie managed to take a step back as the still-semi blind Jellyfish attempted a kick, however in an attempt to defend himself, put the idol in harms way.

The kick which was aimed for Louie's stomach ended up hitting the bag, Jellyfish who felt the idol shatter under the strength of their attack, turned and ran, knowing that there was no more point in staying, since the treasure was gone.

"Dammit." - Louie groaned, hearing the multiple pieces of marble rustle around in the bag. - "Ari-" - He turned to check on the girl, only to find her also missing, realizing the same thing as Jellyfish.

Dropping the worthless bag of stones on the roof, Louie followed his rival's examples, knowing sooner or later the police were going to arrive.

---------------

Louie swiped the key-card to his expensive penthouse hotel-room he booked specifically for its location to the gallery, he was using it as a base of operations for the heist he'd planned out which just went so wrong.

He was exhausted, having just gone through a heist, fight and lecture from Amelia all for what seemed like nothing. All he wanted to do was fall into a deep slumber, and wake up tomorrow morning, catch his flight home and start planning his next caper.

Something was wrong though, he felt a shiver run up his spine, when he notice the hotel cart full of half-eaten food, sitting beside the front door, he'd spent overall about 5-hours here during his whole stay, and he had never once ordered room-service during those hours.

Reaching for the bottle of wine left on the cart, Louie crept further into what should have been his hotel room, noticing someone sitting in one of the seats in the corner of his room, Louie threw the bottle at them, which the figure caught with little effort.

As Louie braced himself for a fight. The figure reached into his coat and produced something which instantly calmed Louie down.

It was a piece of tanned paper with a symbol consisting of a golden six-fingered hand, inside of a golden circle.

The figure sat forward in his chair, revealing a middle-aged male duck possessing a smirk to rival his own.

"I think we need to chat Louie."
