Chapter Thirty Nine
"This is a bad idea."
Forget that.
This was a very bad idea.
"Will you stop saying that, dang it?" K-Ci had said to Dalvin on the other end of the phone as he was trying to call DeVante.
He had gotten a new phone number yesterday and right now he was calling DeVante because he truly wanted to apologise to him.
DeVante and the rest of Jodeci too for that matter had had a falling out seven months ago because DeVante had said that they had put their relationships ahead of him.
Only for Dalvin to rudely and annoyingly say:
I mean, what do you expect, bro?
We're all in a relationship or married here except from you. And maybe if you had a girl too then you'd understand but you'd probably never get one.
Then they had gotten in a huge fight only for DeVante to knock K-Ci out instead of Dalvin.
They had waited this long for them to get back to him because DeVante had legitimately blocked all of them on everything though they didn't exactly blame him at the same time.
K-Ci and Jojo didn't blame him anyway. Dalvin believed that he had started all of this.
Either way, K-Ci had told them that when his contract had ended and he had gotten a new phone then he would have called DeVante to apologise.
"What makes you think DeVante wants to talk to you? Not even that but what makes you think he still cares about or remembered what happened?"
K-Ci just side eyed him, not saying anything.
All this time DeVante was trying to talk to them on the phone but they didn't even notice because they were too busy talking to each other instead.
K-Ci freaked when he had seen this.
DeVante: Hellloooo? Anyone there? For like the ten millionth time now.
K-Ci: Dang, DeVante. Didn't even realise you picked up! I was just so busy talking to Dalvin that—
DeVante: That you completely forgot I existed. Ain't the first time this has happened. Anyway, why'd you call? And if you came to apologise, why this late?
What did he mean why this late?
Dalvin: Dude, you lowkey blocked us on everything. Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat, you name it. And K-Ci's phone contract was the first one to run out so he said that when he got a new phone, he'd call you.
K-Ci: Glad your phone number is still the same even after seven months. Anyways yeah, we're really sorry over what happened. Even if realistically speaking you should be the one apologising. I mean, you almost hospitalised me.
He was supposed to hospitalise Dalvin...
Was what he wanted to say but he didn't.
DeVante was suspicious that they had only called him because they knew he was getting married and they wanted to be guest singing at his wedding.
Jojo wasn't with them right now because it was his six months anniversary with his girlfriend so he wanted to take her somewhere special.
K-Ci and Dalvin in the meantime were at K-Ci's wife Neveah Delores' house.
She didn't mind having Dalvin over today.
She was a pretty chill wife.
Dalvin: I mean—- if you wouldn't mind then yeah, we'd like to sing at your wedding. But that's not why we called you. We genuinely wanted to apologise.
DeVante: Nah, it's fine. I was going to ask y'all anyway. And I'm sorry too. I get that you guys are busy. Obviously though, you three have significant others now, and so do I!
They smiled.
The next time that they would have seen each other would have been at DeVante and Solana's wedding tomorrow, so therefore they had hung up.
Okay, so that was sorted.
Jodeci was going to come to their wedding tomorrow, now all they needed to do now was to actually tell people about their wedding.
Nobody really knew that DeVante and Solana were getting married as DeVante had proposed to her in private.
In case things hadn't turned out okay, as in in case Solana had rejected the proposal, then DeVante here didn't want that to be a public matter.
Like with Severin and Serayah and Severin's card being declined.
Yeah, they sent out their invitations, but even then they had only sent it to just a few of their close friends and family.
DeVante had just posted about his wedding on Instagram as well as the location, date and time after the caption, but as soon as it had hit 150 ish comments, he was going to disable them.
Solana and I are getting married!
I've been waiting so long for the right wife to come into my life and it's her!
He didn't want countless people coming at his wedding, plus they wanted a maximum of 200 people anyway and 27 people were already apparently coming.
Luckily for him there was a flyer about the wedding already so he had just used the photo he had of that for Instagram.
Comments came flooding in like crazy.
And normally this wasn't at all how DeVante had planned inviting people however now that he had realised that his wedding was the same day as Jordan Francis'?
He wasn't taking any chances.

Y'all realise that your wedding is the same day and around the same time as Jordan Francis' and Katari's right?
And I hear they got Lil Kim
Then there was a little of controversy after that over if Lil Kim was better than Jodeci or vice versa.
"Thank you so much for telling us about this Severin. We would have never known about Jordan Francis and Katari's wedding if it wasn't for you," Solana smiled.
He frowned.
Then sighed.
DeVante and Solana had realised this, wanting to know what was up.
"I mean— I already promised Jordan Francis I'd be at his wedding tomorrow. But this was way before I noticed they clashed. But you my man, DeVante. And you've been my man for 5 years. I love Lil Kim and Jodeci. I don't know."
He could have discreetly come to both.
"But then I'll miss part of both weddings," he lamented, then he made up his mind. "Do y'all mind if I go Jordan Francis and Katari's? 'Cause my sister wants to go to yours. I was thinking we take pictures so that we can see what we missed."
That was a pretty decent idea, with DeVante and Solana being a little bit bummed about this but they couldn't have controlled Severin.
"I hope this doesn't affect our friendship or nothing."
"Nah, man. Don't sweat it. Imma save you some cake."
"That's why you da man, D!" Severin fist bumped him, and then he hugged Solana. "And dang- just realised. Two wedding cakes for me!"
They had smiled as they had greeted him goodbye, waiting excitedly for the next day.
The next day had soon come, with Estelle and Jodeci getting ready for the wedding.
Aaliyah was helping Solana with her dress as Dalvin was helping DeVante with his tuxedo instead.
Jordan Francis and Katari's wedding had started thirty minutes ago, and theirs was about to start anytime soon.
Their place had looked like this:
They wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather.
"I am so happy for DeVante!" Estelle beamed. "He's finally marrying someone and I can't believe it's SZA!"
She loved SZA that it wasn't even funny. Even better, she had gotten along really well with Ezinné. Life was good.
K-Ci and Jojo would have thought that he would have married Katari or something especially how he had kept talking to them about her when he was at the retreat but they had guessed not.
Estelle really wondered how Jordan Francis and Katari's wedding was going, also hoping that it had gone badly since Katari had rejected DeVante.
"Estelle, I know she rejected DeVante but you can't be wishing that upon her. It's not nice plus I'm sure your brother reminded you of the same thing," Jojo told her.
"Yeah plus that was like seven months ago now, let it gooooo," K-Ci grinned.
If they could have gone to see what their wedding was like too then they would have but they couldn't.
Even though they didn't have a lot of people though, it didn't turn out very well at first, and neither did DeVante and Solana's either too for that matter.
