A small wince escaped the ebony eyed males lips, watching as his father tightened the bow tie around his neck. The older male simply disregarded the sound, his lips formed in a thin line as he furrowed his brows. "Man up, son." His cold voice spoke, turning towards the mirror as he fixed the cuffs on his suit. "Have you recited the vows?"

Marcus forced himself not to roll his eyes at his fathers words, nodding his head softly. "It's not hard to memorize. After all they are the vows every single person in this family uses."

His father gave him a warning look through the mirror. "They are traditional vows, and I do hope you recited them well. Wouldn't want you fumbling over words, what would the Rosier's think." He muttered the last part.

Marcus bit back his tongue, knowing it wasn't what the Rosier's though, rather what his father would think. Being so caught up in himself, his father lived on what others thought about him, that included his family. His father thought it would make his family look good if his son took the sacrifice of earning his dark mark for the Rosier girl. Causing them to wind up where they are now, less than an hour away from both teens walking down the aisle.

The longer Marcus watched his father through the mirror, the more he realized they were nothing alike. Marcus was glad he wasn't like his father, not a stone cold man who only surrounded himself with people and things that would help improve his image.

No, Marcus was warm, surrounding himself with people he cares about, no interest involved. He would never forgive himself if he was to become the man that stood before him.

. . . ✿ . . .

Standing at the altar was uncomfortable, the guests were either watching the groom or turning in their seats in hopes of being the first to see the bride walk in. Every now and then Marcus would catch himself in an awkward encounter when his eyes locked with a guest, trying to remember who they were. Were they related, family friends? He didn't know for sure, instead focusing his mind on the young woman who walked through the large double doors.

His breath hitched at the sight of his bride adorned in a white dress. Beautiful. He thought to himself. He watched as she glanced up, halfway through the aisle when they locked eyes. Could someone look as gorgeous as she had in this exact moment? He doubted any other female could top her beauty.

Y/n stood before him, a peaceful look on her face. Not like the one she bore a week before. She smiled widely at him, causing him to return the gesture. When the two had first met, she feared she would not learn to love him or he wouldn't love her. Standing only a foot away from him, she realized she had worried for nothing. He was kind, good to her. Making her stomach ache when he was around, at first she thought she was sick, but then she realized it was what the other girls talked about.

Butterflies. Love.

Her mother had once told her that her father made her feel butterflies. The girl was only five, wondering aloud how he put the creatures into her stomach without hurting her. The older woman laughed at her, shaking her head as she informed her daughter that one day someone would make her feel as if she had butterflies in her stomach.

When they had exchanged their vows, Marcus was nervous after hearing the words of the marriage officiant. 'You may kiss the bride.' He looked towards her nervously, having been intimate with her behind doors was one thing, doing it in front of a crowd was another. He hesitantly leaned in, capturing her soft lips onto his own as their guest cheered.

Later that night, the girl sat in front of the vanity, removing her jewels when Marcus walked into the room. A glass of champagne clutched his hand as he watched her through the mirror. She sent him a small smile, turning to face him properly. The girl furrowed her brows when he stared at her silently.

"You are beautiful." He whispered aloud, a deep blush coating her cheeks at his confession. He approached her slowly, kneeling down as his hand rested in hers. "I love you."

She smiled softly, squeezing his hand in return as she stole a quick kiss. "I love you."

14 Years Later

The sound of the Hogwarts Express train rang loudly as they ran towards the train. The ebony eyed male clutched the young girl's hand as he rushed her, turning back ever so often to make sure the rest of his family was behind them.

"Every year." The oldest h/c boy rolled his eyes as he ran besides his mother. Making sure the h/c woman didn't trip over her feet as she clutched the dark haired boy's hand.

"Josie wouldn't get out of the bathroom." The youngest of two boys protested, pointing an accusing finger towards the girl who clutched her fathers hand. As the girl heard the accusation against her, she turned slightly as she stuck her tongue out towards them.

"Come on you two." An older Y/n spoke, stopping before her children could climb onto the train. "We won't be able to be with you at Hogwarts. You will need to look out for each other."

The h/c girl rolled her ebony eyes slightly, pulling her hand out of her fathers before clutching her brother's hand softly. "Don't worry, mom. Evan and I will be good, right Evan?" The young girl asked her twin brother, watching as he showed her a hesitant smile.

Marcus watched the pair suspiciously, knowing their promise would soon be broken when they boarded the train. He studied Evan, watching as the boy nervously glanced at the students who walked into the Hogwarts Express. He crouched down besides him, smiling softly towards him. "Are you alright?"

The boy tore his gaze away from the student, nodding slowly at his fathers words. "What if I'm not in Slytherin like you or mum?" He whispered.

"Oi, no matter what house you'll be placed into, your mum and I will love you. Look at Roman, he's a Gryffindor and we love him." Marcus stated, glancing towards his eldest with a smile.

"But grandpa doesn't love him." Evan reminded him, causing Marcus to clench his teeth.

"Well, grandpa doesn't like anything. He's bitter." Y/n stepped in, "So his opinion is irrelevant."

"What does that mean?" Evan tilted his head, brows furrowed at the word his mother spoke.

"It means, his opinion doesn't count. Ours shouldn't either, you do what feels best." Marcus smiled, placing his hand into his wife's. "No matter what happens, remember, we love you." Josie cleared her throat, tapping her foot as she pointed towards the grand clock. Roman walked besides his younger brother, hugging his mother goodbye as he led his younger siblings into an empty compartment.

The Flint couple stood outside, waving as their children stuck their heads out the window. When the train began to move, Marcus clutched Y/n's hand; placing a delicate kiss on it. "Remind me to remind you to not give my father anything for Christmas."

"Love, we haven't gifted him anything in years." Y/n rolled her eyes playfully. "We haven't gifted him anything, including his birthday. He doesn't deserve it."

Marcus gave her a firm nod, kissing her head as he grinned. "Josie, Slytherin. Evan, Hufflepuff."

The h/c woman scoffed, "Evan, Gryffindor." Marcus raised a brow at her, leading her away from the train station. "I'm right all the time." She smirked. Marcus gave her a loving look, holding her hand as they departed.

When he first heard of their arrangement he thought his parents were punishing him. Never had he thought they were pairing him up with the love of his life. A beautiful young woman. He thought his marriage would be corrupted like his parents' own, but it wasn't. Being arranged to the Y/n Rosier was the best thing that could have happened to him. He wouldn't change her or their children for anything in the world. He was absolutely in love with her and what they had built through their friendship and marriage.

And in the end, everything was alright.
