Waking on Christmas morning was abrupt to say the least, Draco had always gotten the privilege of sleeping in until noon, that was until he started sharing the roof with a five year old ankle bitter
"DRACO!" Katie screamed through the door
Draco groaned into his pillow
"I'm still sleeping!" Draco yelled before pushing his head deeper into the comfortable pillow
"MAMA HELEN SAYS NO PRESENTS UNTIL YOU WAKE UP!" Katie screamed and began banging the door again
Draco got out of bed and put on his shirt before padding out of the room, he threw the door opened and Katie was tapping her foot impatiently
"I should put a silencing spell on you, you annoying rugrat" Draco threatened
She stuck her tongue out at him and grabbed his hand before dragging him towards the living room
"You look like you've been trampled by a dozen hippogriffs" Philip laughed before taking a sip of his coffee
Draco looked in the mirror on the mantle, his hair could rival Potter's and he still had sleep in his eyes
"Yes well a certain brat woke me up from a good dream" Draco grumbled as Katie forced him to sit down, he looked around and didn't see Hermione
"Where's Granger?" Draco asked
"AUNT MIMI!" Katie screamed and ran back to the bedroom, Draco glared at the retreating girl
"She's normally not like this, but Christmas is her favourite holiday" Tom said "hopefully next year she'll grow out of waking us up at the crack of dawn" he sighed
Gisella took a seat beside Draco, she looked like she's been up for hours
"Who put salt in your tea?" She asked Draco
"How are you so perky?" Draco sneered
"I like Christmas, I was awake long before Katie was"
"You're unnatural" Draco grumbled
"Tomas Johnathan Davis, you're raising a little devil!" Hermione spat, being dragged by Katie
"Well aren't you merry" Tom smirked, she shot a deadly glare at him
Hermione sat beside Draco, her hair could rival her hair back in first year, she yawned loudly before putting her head on Draco's shoulder
"Not a morning person?" Draco asked
"Not bloody likely, the only reason I haven't hexed that child is because I love her too much" she told him
"Mama Helen we're all here!" Katie announced before sitting on her father's lap
Mama Helen walked in with floating cups of hot chocolate, the cups found their owners before she sat down on the rocking chair
"Okay Katie, now we can open the presents" Mama Helen smiled, the little girl clapped her hands and began handing out the presents she picked out for everyone
The adults opened the presents and they all admired the slippers that Katie had chosen for them
Tom had received a pair of blue slippers with white cotton balls on the top, Katie had also coloured a picture of the two of them riding Archie
"Merry Christmas papa" Katie smiled and kissed her fathers cheek, Tom smiled softly and kissed her forehead
Philip had received a pair of red slippers with Santa heads on them with black cotton balls on the top
"Merry Christmas uncle Philip" Katie smiled
"Merry Christmas jellybean" Philip told her
Hermione had received a pair of green slippers with elves on them and red cotton balls
"Merry Christmas aunt Mimi" Katie smiled
"Merry Christmas chunky monkey" Hermione said
Katie giggled at the nickname
Mama Helen had received a pair of pink slippers with the reindeers scattered on them and purple cotton balls on them
"Oh how beautiful" mama Helen smiled
"Merry Christmas mama Helen" she said, the older lady extended her hands and Katie gave her a hug
They started giving each other their presents, Hermione had gifted Draco a pair of emerald cuff links
Hermione had given a sweater to Philip that he has been hinting at, she gave Tom a video camera, she gave Katie the new doll that she saw in Paris, she gave mama Helen a gift certificate for a full-day spa, and she gave Gisella a package of self care that Gisella had been eyeing the day before
Draco gave Hermione a diamond hair clip from the Black Vaults and a book that she had been wanting to get but didn't have enough galleons, she had protested that it was too much but he wouldn't taken it back
He gave Philip a pair of new riding boots and gloves, he gave Tom a new wand holster, he gave Katie a pair of silk gloves so that she could play princess with — they matched the dress her father gave her — and he gave mama Helen a ruby bracelet, and gave Gisella a in-depth book of Veela's and their mates
When they finally finished opening the presents and ate breakfast, Tom, Philip and Hermione disappeared momentarily
"Come, come, go put on your winter coats, let's go play in the snow" Mama Helen told them, Draco summoned his winter coat, hat and shoes, he put a water repellent spell and a warming spell on his pyjama bottoms
He put a completely bundled Katie on his shoulders before exiting the house
"Let's build a snowman!" Katie giggled
Draco put Katie down but she immediately disappeared in the snow, he laughed before digging her up again, she blew the snow off her nose
"I'm too tiny" she told him
"Well you are a rugrat" he stated, she stuck her tongue out at him but laughed, she wrapped her tiny arms around his neck as he carried her through the snow
"Your hair is as white as the snow" she giggled
Draco dramatically gasped and grabbed some snow, he dumped it on her black hair and she squealed with excitement
"Now your hair is as white as snow" he smirked
He looked up and saw Hermione by the stables, she was making hand gestures and was talking to Tom, he was too far away to hear what she was saying
"Let's go to them" Draco said, Katie nodded eagerly
He walked through the snow while Katie told him about her toys, they neared the stables and Hermione came up to them
"Close your eyes, the two of you" she smiled
"Why?" Draco asked suspiciously, Katie shut her eyes and put her tiny gloved hand over his eyes, he heard Hermione laugh slightly before taking his free hand and led him through the snow
They finally entered the stables and Hermione let his hand go
"Keep them close" she ordered
Katie sighed dramatically but Draco could feel her shaking with excitement in his arms
He heard some clicking of horse hooves and furrowed his eyebrows
Why would he need to close his eyes?
"Okay...open them!"
Both Katie and Draco opened their eyes, Katie squealed right into Draco's ear and wiggled in his arms, he put her down and she ran to the horse that her father was holding, she extended her hand and the Haflinger pushed it's nose into her palm
"Now Katie, there's some rules that come with having your own horse—" Tom began
Draco turned to Hermione who was holding a black Friesian horse
"Merry Christmas Draco" Hermione smiled
Draco felt his jaw drop slightly
"You didn't—" he began
"Draco meet Sage, Sage, meet your new rider" she introduced
Draco walked slowly to the horse, it took a step back before walking towards him and pushing its head into Draco's chest
Draco brought his hands up and started patting the horses neck
"W-Why?" Draco stuttered in shock
"It was Philip's idea, he thought it would be a good idea for you to have your own horse, that way you won't keep stealing his horse"
"Congratulations mate, you're part of the family" Philip said and put an arm over his shoulders
The horse huffed at Philip and kicked its front leg against the floor
"I heard you, you overgrown cow" Philip said and walked away
Draco turned to Hermione and laughed slightly
"Bloody hell, I have no idea what to say" he chuckled
"Well you can say thank you" she whispered, Draco kissed her lips before turning back to the horse
"Aren't you handsome" Draco smirked
The horse pushed against him in agreement
"Don's be late, we leave in a few hours" she said and left him alone with the horse
Hermione walked to Vixen's stall, the horse came up to her
"Hello my love" she whispered
She opened the stall and entered the stall, Hermione grabbed some hay and fed Vixen
"I've missed you" she whispered, kissing her head
She spend the rest of the day in the stall with Vixen, catching her horse up to all the drama that has happened the past few days
