Y/n's POV
The leaders entered the fight, the larger male had a huge hammer type thing on a long chain that he swung between the groups, knocking out quite a few people. T'Challa hit him with one of his special punches and with a flash of purple the large thing was unconscious on the floor. I flew down in a group that had no avengers and got to work on blasting the aliens away from struggling Wakanda warriors. "Thank you." One of them sighed as I ran off to another cluster. Huge cog-like things burst from the ground and began to travel across the field, crushing and killing everything in its path. I flew up to try and find Nat but once again she had disappeared. I landed next to Steve and Thor. "What are we going to do now?" I hollered. "Run!" Steve yelled sprinting away from the oncoming machine.
"Focus that fire on the left flank Sam." Rhodey ordered on comms. The sound of the metal moving stopped and I looked around to see them flying in the air with red glows holding them up. I knew immediately it was Wanda. The machines flew at the floor and took out another large group of the aliens. I caught a glimpse of Wanda through the crowds. I flew over and landed beside her, I hadn't realised her powers had grown so much.
"Why was she up there all this time?" Okoye said sarcastically.
"Hey Wand." I panted.
"Hey." She replied, looking down at Nat who had been knocked onto the floor. She had propped herself up on her elbow as she caught her breath.
"Guys! We got a Vision situation here!" Sam reported. I looked over at the building and saw two bodies falling from a smashed window.
"Somebody get to Vision!" Steve yelled.
"I got him! On my way!" Bruce took off in his suit.
"On my way!" Wanda also replied. But behind us the alien woman knocked us into one of the ditches that the machines had made. I landed hard on my back on a rock, winding me. The horned lady turned Wanda over by grabbing her shoulder firmly.
"He'll die alone. As will you!" The woman growled at my panting friend.
"She's not alone." Nat smirked. The alien woman turned to face my girlfriend. On her other side was Okoye. She flew at Nat with a growl and their weapons clashed together. Okoye dove at the woman as well, yelling.
"Guys! Vision needs back up now!" Bruce ordered through comms. I managed to pull my self off the floor.
"I'll try and get there ASAP, can someone else get there sooner?" I reported. I looked up and watched Nat get kicked in the face.
"That's my girlfriend you bitch!" I growled, pulling myself off the floor. The woman grabbed Okoye by the neck as I got to my feet and threw her down in front of me. I tried to walk forwards but fell back onto my knees as pain ran up my back. Nat managed to get up and she engaged with her. But was quickly pinned back down. I almost closed my eyes in pain but they opened again when I saw Wanda rise with glowing hands. She lifted the woman off of Natasha and flung her into the passing machine. It splattered blue over Natasha, causing me to laugh.
"That was really gross." She huffed as she sat up. She looked around. "Who's with Vision?" She asked on comms.
"I am!" Steve hollered, clearly struggling by the strain in his voice. Nat looked at Wanda and nodded at her to go. Wanda took off. Nat came over to me as I tried to sit up. My back was really sore. Nat put her arm under me.
"Careful Darling." She whispered. Okoye fought off any aliens that came towards us as Nat helped me onto my feet.
"I'll be good, just give me a minute." I groaned, trying to stop my legs from shaking.
"You could have damaged your nerves or something." Nat said but I shook my head knowing it was nothing that bad. I sort of shook my shoulders, trying to shake off the pain. Slowly I was able to stand on my own and smiled at Nat. "Go... I'll be right behind you." I told her.
She lent forward, holding the back of my neck and pulled me closer so that our foreheads touched. "Stay here." She whispered before kissing my forehead. Then she set off at a sprint towards the woods. Okoye looked back at me and I smiled. She came over and made sure I was steady on my feet. "Thank you." I sighed. I used my powers too take off and flew low to the ground towards the woods. I looked over my shoulder to see Thor destroying the ships using the axe. I used the final bits of my energy to fly faster into the woods. I reached it just as Nat did. "Do we know what's happening?" I panted as we ran, Nat shook her head. My legs were still weak but the adrenaline was kicking back in. We ran and found Steve just as the wind randomly picked up.
"Everyone on my position. We have incoming." Steve told Comms. Sam landed beside us, looking up at the rustling trees.
"What the hell?" Nat mumbled. T'Challa and Okoye came sprinting through the trees to join us. Bruce stumbled through the other trees, his suit rather smashed up. We looked around, up at the trees trying to spot anything. Bruce turned and we looked further down the clearing. A cloud of smoke and glowing blue formed. A large purple man, the size of the Hulk stepped out of it. He had a golden gauntlet with five glowing stones set in each knuckle. Wanda had a ball of magic in her hand waiting to shoot it at the purple man. We all looked at him with fixed expressions, waiting for his next move.
"Cap. That's him." Bruce said. It was Thanos. Steve engaged his shield and moved forwards slowly.
"Eyes up. Stay sharp." He ordered. He started running towards our enemy. Using the blue stone Thanos lifted Bruce against the wall and the rock wrapped around him. With a purple glow Steve was lifted up and thrown hard to the floor. T'Challa jumped at Thanos but Thanos caught him with a hand around his neck and punched him to the floor. Sam flew at Thanos and shot guns at him but was easily knocked from the air. I shot balls of purple energy at him but Thanos sent them straight back at me, knocking me back against a the tree. The already bad pain in my back even worse now. Nat moved forward but was shot back to lay beside me.
"Wanda, it's time." Vision took hold of Wanda's hand to make her look at him.
"No." She said, her voice was shaky.
"They can't stop him, Wanda. But we can." Vision said softly yet desperately. "Look at me. You have the power to destroy the stone."
"Don't." She said back harshly.
"You must do it, Wanda. Please." Vision clung to her arm as Wanda turned to look at Thanos once more. "We are... out of time." Vision took hold of Wanda's hand and she moved it up to cup his face.
"I can't." Wanda shook her head as her eyes filled with tears.
"Yes, you can." Vision reassured her softly. "You can." He moved her hand from his face and pointed her palm at his head. "If he gets the stone, half the universe dies."
Wanda's chin was shaking as she held back her tears. "It's not fair." Vision persisted. "It shouldn't be you, but it is."
I felt my own tears fall down my cheek as I watched. "It's alright." Vision told her with a shaky voice. "You could never hurt me." Wanda looked into his eyes, his face was not worried nor sad. He looked up to her with admiration and love. "I just feel you." He told her. Her hand shook, as did her breath. Red magic grew out of her palm and she shot it at the yellow stone in Vision's head. His face turned to one of struggle and pain, but Wanda continued. Her face showed her own pain, tears streamed down her face as I looked on. I looked to the right where Rhodey was fighting Thanos, but he too was thrown to the floor with a flash of blue. Bucky and Okoye charged at him but their efforts were pointless as they hit the ground. Groot and Rocket had joined us but they were no match for the titan. Wanda used both hands now, trying to speed up the process as Thanos got closer.
Nat and Steve managed to pull themselves off of the floor. Natasha charged first but was pinned to the floor but a collection of large boulders that sort of formed a cage. Steve was hitting Thanos with his shields but it was having little effect. I looked back to Vision who was closing his eyes, and Wanda whose face was screwed up as she watched the man she loved slowly dying. I tried to crawl to Nat but it was no use. I looked back at Steve, who had his hands wrapped around Thanos's, holding him back. He pushed as hard as he could against the purple man and a scream escaped his lips. But Thanos was too strong, he pulled Steve aside and punched him hard in the face, knocking him unconscious to the floor. Thanos had nothing stopping his reaching Vision. Just Wanda.
My eyes almost fluttered shut as Wanda shot a beam of her magic at the man, desperately trying to hold her back. It was a struggle visibly written on her face as she held the titan back. He pushed against her, slowly approaching.
"It's alright." Vision murmured as Wanda looked helplessly into his eyes. "It's alright." He repeated faintly. "I love you." He whispered, looking up at her with a smile. His face changed to one of content and almost happiness as he gazed up at Wanda. Wanda's face relaxed slightly as she stared at him. He closed his eyes just before the stone shattered. As it did so a great flash of yellow shot from his body and it knocked over Wanda as well as shaking the trees. Thanos was the only one left standing.
Wanda was on the floor, trying to push herself up as she breathed heavily. Her face was still distraught. "I understand, my child." Thanos said to her. "Better than anyone."
"You could never." Wanda said back at him, looking up to meet his gaze with red eyes. He put his hand on her head, making her look back down at the floor.
"Today, I lost more than you can know." His hand left her head and he stood upright again. "But now is not time to mourn... Now is not time at all." I fought to keep myself awake so I could watch as he closed his fist and caused the green stone to glow. As he turned his hand as if he were turning an imaginary dial he appeared to reverse the explosion and Vision's body slowly came back together. Wanda looked round, her eyes wide. Thanos stopped as Vision and stone were completely there, knelt before him.
"No!" Wanda screamed, running to him but she was knocked away with a simple wave of Thanos's hand. The titan took hold of Vision's neck, lifting him from the ground, his other hand reached up to the stone.
He dug his fingers into the material that made visions head and pulled out the stone. As he did the life in Visions eyes drained and he turned grey. As if it meant nothing to him, Thanos tossed his lifeless body aside and admired the yellow stone. He placed it on the back of the gauntlet in the remaining space. As the stone locked into the gauntlet a flash of yellow traveled up his arm. "No!" I screamed as I watched his body surge with power. Thanos yelled as colours ran up his arm and through his body.
Suddenly a huge flash of lightning came through the trees, followed by Thor. It hit Thanos, but he shot an equally large beam of energy back at Thor. But the axe spun towards him, pushing it back until it hit Thanos straight in the chest. The axe had sunk into his flesh and Thor placed a hand on the back of Thanos's head. "I told you...you'de die for that!" Thor growled as he pushed the axe further in Thanos's chest. Thanos screamed in pain as he did so. Then he sighed as he looked up at Thor and stopped groaning in pain and his face relaxed.
"You should have... you should... you should have gone for the head." He said weakly. He raised his gauntlet and clicked his fingers. "No!" Yelled Thor.
I closed my eyes as a great flash of white came from the stones and I lost consciousness.
