I go through the rest of the day focusing on things like what color paints the kids might want for finger painting, which story they might pick for this afternoon, and preparing their backpacks to go home, even though there's still a couple of hours left before pick-up.

I think of anything and literally everything except for what Luke promised. The more I try to forget about it, the louder his voice is in my head, begging me to just give in and let him prove himself.

When naptime rolls around, I'm disappointed, for the first time since I started here. Besides little snores, there's nothing, no sticky fingers to clean or whimpered requests to fulfill, to keep my thoughts away from Luke Henson.

And how much better he looks, now even more grown up and sculpted than when we dated. His smile, as handsome and irresistible as ever. His dimples so irritatingly adorable and sexy at the same time.

I hate him, I hate him, I hate him.

It's like a mantra. If I repeat it enough, maybe I'll convince myself it's still true.

And yet... what would be the harm in letting him show me a good time?

"Dylan?" Tabby gives me a pleading look, breaking me from my Luke-coma. "Jade had an accident again, do you mind taking her to clean up and get changed?"

Oh, thank God. I jump to my feet immediately, scooping the toddler into my arms with impressive enthusiasm.

Nothing like a pee-sodden toddler to get my mind off things.

"Grams?" I push open the door, already on high alert when I hear what sounds like a hose or a faucet, spraying at full pressure. "What's -"

I don't even have time to finish my sentence before I turn into the kitchen and find Grams huddled over the sink, nightgown drenched in brown-ish water, trying to stop the full stream shooting up from the sink using only her hands.

I cover my mouth to contain my giggle. It would almost be funny, if the floor didn't look like a slowly filling pond.

"Oh my God," I gasp, immediately running to her side and shoving my hands down at the water, like it'll help. Spewing droplets from my face, I ask "What happened?!"

"I don't know," Grams grunts. "But last time the plumber couldn't come by till a couple days later."

"Last time?" I make the mistake of dropping my hands and the spray hits me directly in the face.

Grams chuckles to herself, crooked fingers finally giving up as she steps back and lets me take control.

"How often does your sink do this?" I turn over my shoulder, reaching for the handle of the faucet to find it already turned off.

"Now and again," Grams busies herself grabbing towels from the pantry, dropping them to the floor. Soaked immediately, they do nothing to clean up the mess.

"Well, if we can't call the plumber," I grunt, pushing my damp hair from my forehead. "Who knows how to fix it?"

Grams smiles to herself, proud as a damn peacock, and I swear to God she probably jacked the sink up on purpose.

"Last time Luke did a pretty great job."

What do you guys think - the universe pushing Luke and Dyl together or just grams? 😂
