Phoenix Haynes

I ordered some cheeseburger meals from McDonald's, and drove Peter and I to the hospital.

I was itching to see Tony.

"Hey, it goes without saying that we're like, together now right?" I asked, and Peter laughed, taking my hand in his while I drove, my eyes still on the road.

"You can definitely ask more nicely than that, Nix." He joked, making me roll my eyes at him.

"Hey, isn't that the guys job?" I said, and we both giggled, knowing it was a bogus gender stereotype.

"Well, I can do it if you really want me to." Peter said, and I scoffed playfully.

"No way Spiderboy, I've got this." I said confidently, turning into the hospital carpark and trying to find somewhere to park.

"Will you be my boyfriend?" I asked Peter, and he tapped his chin, pretending to think before he shook his head.

What the fuck.

"You can say it better than that."

"Are you actually being serious right now?" I laughed, and Peter joined in.

"I'm being more serious now than I've ever been in my entire life."

"Well fine then." I grumbled, parking the car and grabbing our food before I got out.

I took Peter's, making him scoff and cross his arms over his chest.

"That's just rude, Nix."

"Peter Parker, will you please be my boyfriend?" I asked, and Peter took my hand in his, kissing the back of it softly.

I smiled at the action, feeling butterflies in my stomach.

He's so sweet.

"Sorry, but I kind of have this cool thing going on with MJ." Peter joked, smiling sheepishly at me, and I snatched my hand out of his.

I slapped his shoulder, making him jump back to dodge me, but I hit him anyway.

"You little asshole!" I exclaimed, and he burst into fits of laughter, pulling me in for a hug while I playfully flight him off.

Eventually I gave in, hugging him tightly.

"I'm sorry, you know I'm joking!"

"Well I'm not asking you again." I said, stepping back and crossing my arms over my chest, sticking my tongue out at him.

"You blew it, Spiderboy."

"Okay, okay." Peter smiled, placing his hands on either side of my face and locking eyes with me, kissing my nose.

"Phoenix, would you please do me the honour of dating me?" He asked, and I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know, I kind of need to think about it."

"Hey!" Peter exclaimed, making me laugh and take his hand in mine as we walked into the hospital.

"That's your dose of karma." I winked, and before he could respond, I squeezed his hand.

"Oh, and I would love to, by the way."

"Okay, thank god." Peter breathed out, making me laugh as we walked up to Tony's room.

"Alright, are you ready for this?" I asked, and Peter nodded, gulping nervously.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be."

"Yeah, me too." I sighed, and Peter slowly pushed the door open to reveal Tony.

Pepper was sitting next to his bed, looking exhausted.

I felt so sorry for her.

Happy sat on the other side of the room, taking the couch across for Pepper.

He looked upset, but there was a lot of that going around.

Morgan was sleeping, staying still while she cuddled into Tony's side, and he seemed at peace with her being there.

The two of them like that was quite a beautiful sight.

Tony admittedly looked like shit, but that much was expected.

He was alive, and that's what mattered the most to me, to all of us.

"Hey." I whispered, trying not to alarm Tony, and he opened his eyes to look at me.

"It's about time." He responded, making Peter chuckle softly as we walked further into the room.

"I thought you were coming with happy." Tony said, and I shrugged.

"We wanted to talk to Steve first." I told him, and he nodded.

Peter took a seat next to Happy, and I sat on the end of Tony's bed, lightly patting his leg.

"Is Cap not coming?" Tony asked, making me shake my head.

"Not today." I responded, and he looked a little bit disappointed.

"Oh, that's okay."

"He just returned the Infinity Stones, he didn't want you to worry about it." I informed Tony, and he smiled slightly.

"Good, I never want to see those things again."

"Preaching to the choir." I agreed, making him chuckle a little as he stroked Morgan's hair.

"When is he coming to visit?"

"He said he would like to see you tomorrow." I said, and Tony nodded.

"He would've come today, but he didn't want to overwhelm you with too many visitors." Peter reassured him, making Tony visibly relax a little.

"Everyone wants to make sure you're okay, but you need time first." Pepper said, and Tony smirked.

"Of course they do."

"But how are you feeling, Mr Stark?" Peter asked, and Morgan woke up, smiling brightly at me.

"Daddy's okay!" She exclaimed, and I laughed, nodding at her.

"And what a blessing that is."

"I feel alive, atleast." Tony said, and I smiled, wiping a tear from my cheek.

I didn't want to be too emotional in front of him.

I should be the one comforting Tony, not the other way around.

"I know Happy already brought you a cheeseburger, but I figured you could use another one." I said, handing him some more food, which he took.

I could tell he was happy, even though he couldn't really express it.

Peter took his meal from me, and we all ate in a comfortable silence, while a nurse came in to check Tony's vitals.

She seemed relatively happy with his condition, writing something on the board before leaving us alone again, and I looked at Pepper.

"So, what's the status?" I asked, and she sighed, taking Tony's hand in hers.

"A few broken bones, cracked ribs, punctured lung, lacerated sternum." Pep listen off on her fingers, and I cringed at the thought of how much pain he would be in.

"Third degree burns on his arm and hand from the snap, as well as a pretty decent concussion."

"Woah, how are you even eating right now?" I asked Tony, and he just shrugged at me.

"Nix, you should know me well enough by now." He said, trying to smile.

"Nothing gets in the way of me eating an classic American cheeseburger."

"You're an idiot." I laughed, and turned to look at back Pepper.

"How are you feeling, Pep?" I whispered, making her give me a sad smile.

"I could be better, but I'm just glad Tony's going to be okay."

"Me too." Happy said, and Peter nodded in agreement.

"I really thought he wasn't gonna make it." Happy pointed out, and I looked at Morgan, who waved at me before gently cuddling into Tony.

"I'll always make it." Tony said, rolling his eyes.

"Happy, we all know I'm never gonna die."

"Good, just keep it that way." I said, and Peter smiled, getting out of his chair and walking over to me after he finished his food.

He wrapped his hands around my shoulders, leaning down and resting his cheek in the crevice of my neck.

"I see you two finally got together then?" Pep asked, and I nodded, smiling.

"Yeah."

"God, I was starting to think you'd both live in denial for the rest of your lives." Tony scoffed, making Peter laugh.

"After all the teasing, it was bound to happen eventually Mr Stark."

"You raise a good point, kid." Tony responded, and I smiled at their interaction.

Cute.

"How was the funeral?" Tony asked, and I felt the tears form, while Peter hugged me a little bit tighter.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be there." He continued, making me smile sadly at him.

"She would have wanted me there."

"You had a pretty good excuse not to be." I pointed out, wiping a tear from my cheek and making Tony sigh.

"She was one of my closest friends, I should have been there."

"How could you have been?" I asked, leaning back into Peter's chest, and he kissed my temple softly.

"You almost died too, Tony."

"I guess." He muttered, and I sighed.

"The funeral sucked, but we'll adjust to Nat not being around eventually." I said, not exactly believing it myself.

"Anyway, how long until you get released?" Peter asked, and Tony shrugged a little, wincing in pain.

"I wouldn't have a clue."

"The doctors aren't sure." Pepper said, and Morgan climbed down from the bed, sitting next to happy so Tony could have some space.

"They said they'll let him go home when he's showing more signs of recovery."

"Who knows when that'll be." Tony scoffed, and Peter kissed my cheek.

"Well when you do get to go home, we should make a nice dinner, maybe play some games." I suggested, and Morgan clapped in agreement, already excited for it.

"That sounds like fun." Happy said, and Tony smiled while Pepper nodded happily.

"Family games night?" She asked, and I reached behind me to squeeze Peter's biceps, nodding at her.

"Yeah."

"Sounds amazing." Pep agreed, and we fell into a comfortable silence.

I can't wait.
