A saber pack was relaxing on a big rock in an open field as they did their own thing
The alpha, who was a big male saber with brown fur with dark brown spots and grey eyes sat on top of the rock and looked at his mate, a sabress with white fur and black stripes with brown eyes and had three golden earrings in her left ear, she sat alone as she felt so miserable and heartbroken
They both couldn't get that incident from last night out of their mind, when their only cub got attacked and killed by a cave lion
The sabress stood up and walked to the forest to calm herself down, she then suddenly heard a baby crying in the distance
She ran towards the crying sound, only to arrive at a human campsite that was completely destroyed
She gasped at the sight of the dead human bodies scattered around the place and totally torn apart, she sniffed the ground and gasped once more
"Cave lions" the sabress thought as she heard the crying coming from one tent that was still intact, but the entrance was blocked by huge logs
She pushed the logs away and walked into the tent as she saw a human baby girl crying in a basket
She looked at the baby's arm and saw two deep cuts as the baby continued to cry, she sniffed her arm as she gasped at the fact that cave lions did that to her
"those monsters!" the sabress whispered as a growl escaped from her throat as she checked the baby to see if she had more injuries
But luckily she did not
"Shh, Shh. Don't cry, it's ok. I'm here" the sabress shushed as she carefully wiped the baby's tears away with her paw
The baby reached out and gently touched the sabress's paw and cooed quietly
The baby had dark skin, black hair and sea foam green eyes
"That's right, I'm here" the sabress whispered as the baby quickly forgot the pain in her arm while she squeaked happily
The sabress smiled and carefully picked the baby up with her mouth, sat down and carefully puts her in her arms
The baby yawned as nuzzled close into the sabress fur
The sabress licked the baby's head soothingly and nuzzled her, like a mother to her baby, she suddenly heard a low growl coming from behind
She quickly turned around as she was face to face with a cave lion with light brown fur that was the same size as she was, she recognized him as the one who killed her cub last night, she gently put the baby back in the basket and charged at the cave lion as she attacked him
Luckily he was a weakened earlier, so she managed to defeat him with ease, it only left her with two deep cuts on her muzzle and a little piece of her ear got ripped off, she quickly ran away with the baby in her mouth
She stopped, puts the baby down and looked back at the camp, she let out a protective yet intimidating roar to the lion
"You took my first chance away at motherhood and you're not gonna take away my second!" The sabress shouted
She then picked the baby up and went back to the pack
Back there, the whole pack saw the sabress coming with her injuries, they rushed towards her with worried looks on their faces
The sabress puts the baby down and holds her up with her paw
"Leah! Are you alright dear?" The first saber asked worried
"What happened?" The second one asked
"I'm fine, honestly. It's just that I got... distracted" Leah replied as she shows the baby to the others
All of the sabers gasped as two male cubs came closer to take a better look
"Is that a human?" One of the cubs asked, who had grayish-brown fur and blue eyes
"She sure is" Leah chuckled sweetly as the cubs came closer
"Never knew humans are that freaky-lookin' as a baby" the other cub murmured, who had dark brown fur almost black and green eyes
"Nathan!" His mother scolded
"What? It's our opinion, isn't it?" His younger brother defended
"Yeah, right, Ryan?" Nathan agreed
The baby looked at them and laughed happily as she crawled towards them
"Ha ha, so where's her mama? And what happened to her arm?" Nathan asked curiously while he came closer as the baby gently touched his muzzle
Leah didn't wanted to tell them how the baby got those cuts, because she didn't wanted to scare them, although they seemed tough, they were still cubs
"I don't know how she got them and from now on I'll be her mother" Leah replied as she sat down
Her mate walked up to her as the other sabers made space for him
"You know, she's not so bad once you get to know her" Ryan said, when he saw the alpha approaching as he puts the baby back in Leah's arms
"Aunt Leah will be her mother now" Ryan and Nathan informed Victor after they backed off a bit
The alpha sniffed the baby as it made her giggle
"Victor, I saved her from Zane's servant" Leah explained as Victor sighed and looked at her
"Leah, she won't replace our own." Victor sighed sadly as he looked at the child
"I know, but she needs me. And I don't care if you say otherwise, I just want her to be safe" Leah said while looking sweetly at the baby who cooed happily as Victor sighed deeply
"We both know that Zane despises humans so badly, if he finds out that we're having a human baby in our pack-" Victor started
"But, that still didn't gave him the right to be irresponsible and let one of his psychotic lions approach our territory and kill our cub! This baby doesn't have anything to do with Zane at all, she's defenseless. Please, Victor, she needs us" Leah begged
Victor thought for a moment, he didn't really hate humans, but he has not the strongest bond with them, he wanted to keep his pack safe, but he couldn't abandon the baby either
"Was she alone?" Victor asked
"Yes, Zane and his pride killed her whole family, there were no others" Leah explained as Victor had a shocked yet concerned look on his face
The alpha looked closer at the baby, and he too never saw a baby this beautiful as her before. She looked so innocent and she was, he smiled slightly before giving in
"Then we may keep her" Victor replied as Leah sighed in relief
"Victor, I promise she will be a good daughter to us" Leah smiled as she looked at the new pack member
"I know she will. We'll stay here for the night!" Victor called out to the pack as they walked back to the big rock
"So, what are you gonna call her?" Nathan asked
"I think I'm gonna call her... Noa" Leah replied sweetly while looking at the baby girl
"Noa? Ok, she's you're baby" Ryan replied simply as he and his brother Ryan walked back to the rock
"First we're gonna treat those wounds of yours" Leah said softly to Noa as she picked her up with her mouth and walked to the big rock with Victor right next to her while he looked at her in concern
"And yours too, Leah" Victor replied as he licked her cheek and nuzzled his mate
Back in the distance, that same cave lion watched as the whole pack left, he on the other hand was worried sick and kind of scared
"Oh, oh. Will I get in trouble if the master finds out?...no, wait! He doesn't NEED to know it, because if that baby shows up, I'll just kill her, right? Yeah!" the cave lion mumbled while grinning as he quietly went back to where he came from
