Hay. Christmas na naman. Syempre andyan ang kainan, gift-giving, Aguinaldo, pera, parties at ang hindi at never ever ever nang mawawala sa Christmas ko: si LOUIS.
Mai-chika ko lang po. So Louis ay isang magulo, dakilang epal, mukhang autistic na gwapong gwapong tao. Childhood friend siya ng pamilya at ng mga kapatid ko. Bakit sila lang? Kasi never kong nagustuhan si Louis. Like I said, dakilang epal nga siya. And I hate him to bits. Bakit? Dahil yun nung unang Christmas na nakita ko siya. Paliguan daw ba ako? Nang wala sa oras!

I was ten years old and my family was celebrating Christmas here in the Philippines. We used to celebrate it at US but suddenly Mom wanted na i-celebrate ito here in Pinas. Really, we don’t have any idea why.
Mom hosted a party at home. Ang daming tao. Pero kung titingnan lahat sila di naman namin kilala ng mga kapatid ko.
Nagsimula na yung party. Pinakilala kami isa isa ni mommy and nung nakababa na si Alexa, Mom announced that the party may begin.
Bata pa kami and we’re not into parties. Children’s party pwede pa, kaso hindi eh. Naka-upo lang kami dun sa taas ng stairs sa gitna ng sala. Maganda kasi ang view dun. Kita mo ang buong sala pati na rin ang lahat ng tao.

“Ikaw! Do you know how much this dress cost ha?! Alam mo ba? How dare you spill it with food? Bakit ka ba kasi tumatakbo? Ano to? Milo Marathon? Party to. So we don’t need someone to run all over the house and bump me and spill my food over my dress! Do you get it?! ARGHHHH! CURSE YOU!”
I stormed off the party and run to my room. I hate it. I hate this party. I hate that damn boy. I hate all of the unknown people down there. I hate his buong angkan!!! Ansarap niya talaga paslangin!
Mommy came in running.
“Luna, I’m sorry.” –Mommy
“Mom, Mom my dress. Get that damn boy out of our house Mom. Please. My dress! Nakakahiya. Nakita ako ng lahat ng tao na maligo sa sabaw ng graham with black dots from the brownies! I hate him!”
“I’m so sorry. If you want to stay here it’s fine. Just rest and I’ll talk to Louis.” –Mom
“Make him pay this.”

Pa-alis na si Mommy nga tawagin ko siya.
“Wait a while Mom, see me down stairs. I’ll be back at the party."
After Mom’s gone, I rushed to my closet and fine my sweater. I grabbed my denim shorts then wore it with boots and glasses. Hay. Ang cute ko >:D

Lumabas ako then I saw my sisters still sitting at the top of the stairs.
“Mga sis.”

Then they rushed to their rooms and changed outfits. Ang cute. Para pa rin kaming nasa US sa mga porma namin! Ahahhaha. Yung iba my beanie pa! well, we rock!

Biglang nawalan ng kumakanta. The strumming was lost. The light na naka turo sa amin ay naglaho.

“HIT IT!” – I said sa mic. The spot light turns on on me and I can see the shock on his face.

Simula nun, every Christmas pumupunta sila ng Dad niya sa amin to celebrate with us. And every year din, he will bring a new dress. Syempre ako lang ang nireregaluhan niya, yung mga kapatid ko sagot nang Dad niya.

He didn’t pay a visit. Instead, yung Dad lang niya ang nagdala ng dress ko kasama ng isang card.
Ang laman ng Christmas card na yun ang pinaka unexpected gift na natanggap ko.
