When I followed after Ella I didn't make it very far because I was pinned to the wall by an angry Rayne.
"Where do you think you're going?" He said. "To check on Ella? She just ran out upset so uh excuse me," I said trying to loosen his vice like grip on my shoulder. She was upset about Connor I just wanted to see if she was okay.
"Ash you can't go out there, this is serious. That guy out there is Alpha Jason, the man we defeated. He's not supposed to be here and my father reports that he's not alone. Stay inside." He said in a tone of finality. I didn't want to push the issue any further so I complied.
"Okay, but will you be alright?" I said rubbing his shoulders, feeling his muscles flex underneath my touch.
"Of course, I'm an Alpha" He said with a smirk.
"Son, let's go handle some business." Alpha Jackson called from behind with his hands in his pockets. He looked unphased by Jason's appearance. Rayne placed a light kiss on my lips then joined his father.
I found my parents with Luna Aria and Peyton sound asleep on the couch in the security room with tv monitors all over. It was a safety precaution all members of the council took. I looked at the main monitor and saw Rayne and Alpha Jackson standing tall and firm staring down Alpha Jason who looked so cocky I wanted to smack the smirk off his face. Such a pretty face though. I thought. Alpha Jason was tall, blonde haired, and had piercing blue eyes that contrasted against his all black suit. His square jaw and bulking figure made him look intimidating despite how arrogant he looked.
"Ashlyn, you look worried" Luna Aria said.
"I am a little. I've never seen a confrontation before, certainly not one that looks this serious." I admitted. I wasn't even out there and I could feel the uncomfortable tension.
"My boys can handle themselves. They're strong and our pack is strong, take some pride in knowing you'll soon be one of us." she said with a small smile.
I nodded and smiled. I looked at my mother tapping away on her phone with furrowed eyebrows and my father who seemed to be in an urgent conversation on the phone.
"Who let that bastard get past the border patrol? When I find out his ass is mine! I want unit patrols to scan the whole perimeter and keep the rest of his men out immediately. That's a direct order." He shouted angrily. I flinched at his tone, it was rare when he got that angry.
I looked back to the monitor to see Rayne standing tall beside his father. They both looked expectant of what was to come.
So was I....
Rayne's P.O.V.
"What brings you here Jason. I'm pretty sure you weren't on the guest list." My father asked nonchalantly.
"I thought I should personally welcome you to the land thats supposed to be mine but you just had to play dirty and capture my mate didn't you?"Jason replied with sarcasm dripping from his tone.
"First, your mate came to us having been fed up with your sadistic ways and not to mention you were sleeping around with other bitches. Second, this land is mine always has been and always will be. You may leave on your own free will or I will have you personally escorted out."
Jason laughed humorlessly. "Funny you should mention my sweet Leila, she's dead. I have no stomach for traitors" Jason said while shrugging his shoulders.
"She was your mate how could you so easily dispose of her like that? You'll never find another woman like her again" I said disgustedly. Leila was Jason's mate. She escaped to one of our bases during the war, she decided she was done with Jason's abuse. and she told us everything we needed to know about him. I remember how pained she looked. She was covered in black and blue bruises and abnormally thin from the lack of food. Jason didn't care about her and I couldn't imagine doing anything that horrific to Ashlyn.
The thought made me sick to my stomach. Ashlyn is my queen. Jason smirked.
"Rayne, now you decide to speak up. You smell rather sweet or is that anothers scent? Is it safe to assume its your mate?" Jason said while sniffing the air.
"She smells delightful. She seems to be inside do you mind if I introduce myself?" He asked while walking slowly over to the door, trying to taunt me. He's dead. I was about to launch myself at him and let my wolf take over but my pack men snarled, forming a barrier blocking off the door to my home.
They recognized that Ashlyn and I were mates through our pack bond.
"I was just kidding I have no interest in her pinky promise," he said holding his hands up. "Then why are you here?" I replied, trying to keep my wolf at bay. He wanted to beat the crap out of him and I was on board. He wouldn't get the chance to even look at her I'd tear him to pieces.
"Truth is I just wanted you all to see my new suit, it's Armani." Jason said while smoothing out his suit jacket.
He looked up to see that we all were two seconds from kicking his ass. Is he kidding me right now? I looked over to my father who had an amused look on his face.
"Joking, I'm joking. I wanted you all to see that even though you defeated me I'm still the all powerful Jason Archailis, son of Ivan and the alpha of Silver Moon. There's been rumors going around that I plan to surrender the rest of my lands to you and theres no way in hell that's happening. As a matter of fact, I want my territory back,"
'All powerful' my ass, I wanted to laugh at how ridiculous he sounded. Some people couldn't take defeat. He wanted his lands back? The fucker was out of his mind, these lands are ours by right. The main reason we fought him was because Jason broke a century long treaty between our packs stating that we wouldn't take each others land. Jason was obsessed with increasing the size of his pack so he decided to take over Oscala and take some of my men prisoner. The fight lasted 7 months until he had no choice but to surrender.
My father bursted out laughing which threw us all off guard.
"All powerful? Your-How foolish! This territory was never yours to keep I'm afraid and if my memory serves correct, you surrendered did you not? Your dream of taking over ended when I finished off your pity of an army." Jason looked beyond furious. I smiled smugly at his expression, my father certainly hit a nerve. He insulted his pride and made him look like a sore loser(which he was). Jason cleared his throat and straightened out his jacket after his eyes glazed over, mindlinking with someone.
"I have some business to attend to. This discussion is far from over" And with that, he transformed into his silver grey wolf and ran off into the woods.
"Toby, Josh, and Mike follow him and make sure he gets across the border." I said with a Alpha command in my tone and they nodded curtly. They were the fastest trackers on the pack and could easily keep track of his movements with no problem.
"My brothers and sisters, tonight was a close call. Jason has easily slipped past our lands and that is unacceptable. It's our duty to protect one another and our sacred grounds. Tomorrow, we will discuss stricter security measures and I want all my fighters to start training more vigorously for we don't know what's yet to come. We all must be ready for a fight at any given time. In the meantime, all of you can go home and discuss what I've said." My father boomed, his voice echoing throughout the crowd. The wolves bowed their heads in respect and proceeded to leave.
I was still angry that Jason indirectly threatened my mate, scratch that I was pissed. I sensed the double meaning in his voice when he asked to introduce himself. He had the nerve to say she smelt delightful. She was mine. I went inside and saw that she was nowhere in sight. I sniffed the air and knew she was upstairs somewhere. I knew she would be safe but I needed to check on her.
Ashyln's P.O.V.
I scoffed when Jason mentioned me to Rayne. He could he find all that out with one sniff? I was about ready to fight his ass when he made his way to the entrance to 'introduce' himself, I would've gave
him the meanest attitude. I knew Rayne wouldn't let him get within a few feet of me.
"Aw hell no" My father said as he pulled out a silver gun from his back pocket. My father always had some form of protection on him.
"He's just taunting Rayne. Jason isn't that stupid," Luna Aria said. I hoped she was right...
We all instantly relaxed when a group of pack wolves blocked off the door, making Jason back off. I couldn't help but admire the way Rayne looked ready to attack Jason at the mention of me. After Jason ran off, I saw Rayne come inside the house and looked around, probably for me. I exited the room and saw Rayne at the bottom of the staircase. I made my way towards him and stroked the side of his face. He rested his face onto my palm and closed his eyes. He looked so tense I just felt the need to soothe him.
"Hey, come here" I said softly as I pulled him closer.
"He wasn't going to make it inside the house I would've torn him to pieces." He said. He really meant it. All of that for me? I couldn't help but feel special...and a little grossed out at the same time.
"That's unecessary, don't forget I know how to kick some werewolf ass," I said jokingly. He gave me a small smile but it was strained because of how tense he was. My need to soothe him was overwhelming me at this point. I took his hand and led him down a hallway to the right of the staircase.
I pulled him into Ella's guest room and sat him down on a armchair. I stood behind him and massaged his shoulders while placing kisses along his neck.
"Ash... if you don't stop now I won't be able to control myself" He said trying to supress a low growl. His husky tone only encouraged me further as I continued to trail feathery kisses along the base of his neck.
"Are you still tense?" I whispered into his ear as I made my way back up. He shook his head.
"Good, my work is done." I said as I crawled into his lap. We stayed like that for what seemed like forever and remembered him placing a kiss on my forehead before I drifted off to sleep.
