"All right gentlemen, you know the rules. Three points win. Step on the mats." The referee instructed. Miguel and some boy from All-Star karate were the first ones to fight and Y/N already felt herself getting nervous. She wasn't worried he was going to lose, he was a great fighter, she was just worried about him getting hurt. Same with Robby.
Miguel went to step on the mat but Johnny pulled him back and whispered something into his ear, his blue eyes locked on Daniel who was glaring back. Miguel nodded and stepped on the mat, facing the other boy. "And face me. Bow. Face each other. Bow. Ready?"
The boy from All-Star Karate got into his fighting stance while Miguel balanced on one leg, holding the other one up and extending his arms. Wait is he going to do what I think he's going to do? "And fight." Just as the boy ran at Miguel, Miguel launched his foot up kicking him in the face, earning himself a point.
"That's one point Diaz." The referee announced as the crowd went wild. "I can't believe he stole your move." Sam scoffed, glancing at her dad. Daniel glanced over at Johnny who just smirked in return. Miguel won his match and now it was Robby's turn. Every punch the boy threw, Robby blocked perfectly, using the skills Daniel had taught him from working at the dealership. The boy went to punch Robby in the face but he ducked before striking him in the face, winning his fight.
Daniel and Y/N cheered for him as he was awarded his next point. Aisha fought next, ducking and dodging as the kid she was fighting threw flashy kicks and spins. "Enough defense. Attack!" Johnny demanded. The kid spun on his heel ready to kick her when she caught his foot and swept his leg making him fall. She bent down and punched him in the face. "Good job, Ms. Robinson. Good job!" Johnny cheered, making Y/N smiled. She clapped for Aisha as Hawk walked onto the mat.
He won his fight and started celebrating, even taking off his gi to show the crowd his hawk tattoo displayed on his back. Y/N cringed and looked away, her eyes meeting Johnny's. He gave her a small smile but she quickly looked away. Now it was Bert's turn to fight. Johnny gave him an encouraging smile as the referee instructed them to get into their positions. "Fight!"
The boy, who was significantly taller than him, flipped over him, taking him by surprise. Bert tried to regain his composure but the boy was quicker. He kicked him in the chest, making Bert fall and Y/N wince. The other boy won the match. "And this brings us to the quarterfinals."
Miguel was first again, fighting the boy Bert had fought. The boy did his flips but Miguel knew what to do. he slid under the boy, trying to knock his legs out from under him. The boy wobbled a little bit but he stuck his landing. He went running at Miguel but Miguel kicked him in the chest and then sent a spinning kick to his face, securing another win. Y/N cheered for her best friend loudly. He's doing great! "Over on mat two, Miguel Diaz makes the semis."
Next was Robby's turn. Robby ducked every kick, every swing, the boy not being able to even land a hit on him. The boy went to swing but Robby ducked and brought his leg up, kicking the boy in the stomach, winning the match, and advancing to the semis as well. Y/N cheered for Robby loudly, making him look over at her and wink. She smiled but slowly started to feel worry grow in her stomach. What if Robby and Miguel have to fight each other? "Over on mat three, Robby Keene advances to the semifinals."
It was Aisha's turn and she was fighting some guy from Topanga karate. Xander Stone, Y/N believed his name was. Xander while he may have been a bit more agile, Aisha was smarter. He did a flip and tried to his Aisha but she moved just in time. He went to throw a punch but Aisha caught it. He tried to kick as well but Aisha hooked his leg, making him fall and earning herself a point. "Point Robinson!" The announcer yelled. Sam, Y/N, and the LaRussos cheered for her as Xander got into his position. "2-2. Fight!"
Aisha threw punches but Xander blocked everyone. Aisha went to kick but Xander dropped to the ground, sweeping Aisha's legs from underneath her. Xander brought his foot down and kicked her in the stomach making his mom cheer crazily while Y/N and Sam winced. "And over on mat four, Xander Stone is our last semifinalist."
Xander tried to help her up but Aisha ignored him and grabbed her bag, storming out of the gymnasium. "I'll be right back," Sam muttered to Y/N. Y/N nodded as Sam ran after Aisha to comfort her. It was a good fight and considering Aisha was the only girl competitor, she did really well. Y/N just hoped she could see that.
"Yes! Let's give it for all of our competitors. You're all winners. We have seen some great fighting today, haven't we? There can be only one true winner, and he is standing on this stage right now. Will it be Miguel Diaz from Cobra Kai? Will it be Hawk from Cobra Kai Karate? Will it be Robby Keene, unaffiliated? And last but certainly not least, last year's champion, fighting out of Topanga Karate, Xander Stone!" The announcer yelled, making everyone cheer crazily. Xander did a flip, landing in front of the announcer.
He took the microphone from him and turned to the crowd. "I just wanted to say, even though I love to fight, we all need to fight together against hatred," Xander said, his eyes daring around the crowd. His eyes landed on Y/N and he winked at her, making her face flush. Miguel noticed and felt anger flare inside himself. Oh yea, he was gonna mess this kid up. Xander continued his speech. "And as I look around this arena, I pray for every race, religion, and gender that we can all live together in peace. Please join me in a moment of silence as we strive to end intolerance in our time."
Everyone closed their eyes and hung their heads as they waited for the minute to end. "Kick that pansy bitch in the face," Johnny muttered to Miguel Miguel nodded with a grin. Now he had another reason to beat his ass. "Yes, Sensei," Miguel replied. The announcer snatched the microphone out of Xander's hand and started talking again. "All right! First up, Stone versus Diaz! Let's go!"
The fight was one of the closest ones Y/N had seen the whole tournament. The two threw punches and kicks, dodging each one. Xander flipped as Miguel lunged, each one missing the other. Finally, Miguel was able to get Xander defenseless and he kicked him in the face, sending him down to the ground. Miguel yelled in triumph as Xander got up from the floor, caressing his irritated cheek. "That's 2-1, Diaz."
"Go, Miguel!" Y/N cheered. Miguel looked over at her and winked before turning back to Xander with a sinister grin. Miguel had one thing Xander didn't, and that was Y/N on his side. "Fighting positions, and fight!"
The two boys circled each other, neither daring to strike. Miguel lunged forward, throwing punches with Xander blocking each one. Xander threw his own punches which Miguel blocked. Miguel went to throw another punch but Xander flipped backward, making Miguel miss. Xander stood up and went at Miguel, doing fancy dodges and flips to throw him off. "You got this Miguel!" Y/N yelled.
This seemed to motivate Miguel as Xander flipped forward. Miguel dove underneath him and jumped up. He spun on his heel and delivered a kick to Xander's chest making him fall to the ground. Miguel did it, he's going to the finals. "YES MIGUEL!" Y/N screamed, clapping loudly. "Miguel Diaz is headed to the finals. Next up, Hawk versus Keene." Oh no.
"Oh come on you're not gonna cheer for your own student?" Amanda asked Daniel as Robby got onto the stage. "He's not my student. All right, I...Amanda, I can't. The kid lied to me." Daniel replied. "So, he lied. So what? He's a kid who obviously wasn't in it with Johnny, or he wouldn't be fighting his students." Amanda pointed out. Daniel looked away and focused his attention on the match.
"You got this Robby!" Y/N cheered, making Hawk look at her in confusion. Why was she cheering for him? Y/N felt worry grow as Hawk jumped on the stage. He was one of Johnny's students who took no mercy way too seriously, and Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to happen. "Fighting positions. Ready? And fight!"
The two boys ran at each other with Robby throwing kicks at Hawk. He blocked every single one, not even bothering to throw a punch. As Robby jumped to throw another kick, Hawk caught him and threw him down, punching him in the chest and winning a point."One point, Hawk."
"Remember what you learned Robby!" Daniel yelled as Robby got ready to get into his position. "Come on Robby! Remember!" Y/N yelled as well, hoping he understood. Robby looked at the two and nodded. Robby closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, remembering everything Daniel taught him and Y/N in the woods. His eyes fluttered open as the referee yelled. "Ready? And Fight!"
Hawk threw a kick and Robby sidestepped, making him miss. Hawk stumbled forward as Robby moved away, regaining his focus. Hawk went to go at him but Robby did a hook kick to his face, making him fall. "There you go, Robby!" Daniel cheered. "Yeah, Robby!" Y/N yelled. "One point, Keene!"
The two boys got into each other's faces, most likely throwing insults. The referee lightly shoved them apart. Robby turned around to walk back to his spot when Hawk ran at him and kicked him in the shoulder, making Robby fall. Johnny ran up onto the stage and got down next to him. The referee ran and grabbed him and pulled him away as Robby rolled around in pain. A referee came over and helped him up, gently pulling him off of the stage. Since Hawk was disqualified, Robby earned a trip to the finals, meaning he and Miguel were going to have to fight. This is not good.
