Josephines POV:
It's been couple of months since we stayed at the Kalikas estate, Luke and I have kept in contact and have become pretty close. Everything with my family's the same, and things with Edgar's the same.
Life's back to being boring again.
But you know, at knight there have been fore frequent assassination attacks, but because of my sensitive senses and the amateur assassins who know who's sends, I've killed them with ease, they haven't been able to touch me. But because of that I haven't has enough sleep.
THEY KEEP FUCKING WAKING ME UP AT 2-5AM IN THE FUCKING MORNING!
One day a letter came from the royal palace. It was from Edgar, He wants me to come over, he has something to discuss with me.
So the day I get the least amount of sleep I went to the palace.
Oh, and did I mention if I have a bad sleep my temper becomes shorter and there is a higher chance that I'll punch an innocent person.
I'm on my way to the Palace alone in the carriage while yawning the whole way through.
I made my way through and not bothering with the greetings.
I open the door and not bothering the maid to do it.
"Hey Edgar, You wanted to discuss something?"
"Yes, take a seat and we'll talk about it."
I sat down on the couch, he then came around from the desk to the couch in-front go me.
"I've heard you've had quite a-lot of assassination attacks."
"Yeah, it's causing my lack of sleep, and by the way you chose the worst day to call me over."
"You didn't sleep did you last night."
"Only and hour but pretty much."
"Yeah I can see the bags."
I glare at him and he smirks.
"Anyway, because of these endless assassination attempts, I have decided to give you a royal knight."
HUH?
"A what a what?"
"A royal knight, he's my personal knight but he's going to be assigned to you, his name is Lance. It's only temporary though, one year?"
Lance? You're gonna give me someone who could kill me to protect me? Yeah, I'll have fun with that.
"So when you mean discuss something with me, you mean notice me."
"Well if I asked, you would've said no."
"And you can't tell why? I can protect myself just fine, I'm nearly just as good as you."
"Yeah but you never know, plus with someone you'll get some sleep."
"First of, I'm sensitive so I would be able to sense it, sensing it makes me wake up, AND! I don't like someone following me 24/7. Do you not notice the fact that I never bring maids with me?"
"Yeah I noticed, that's why I'm worried. And Jose, I'm not asking, I'm telling you whether you like it or not."
"Argh, fine, you giving him to me now though?"
"Yes."
"make him mentally ready cause I'm tried as fuck and I'm not in a happy mood."
"Yes I see that."
"Bring in Lance."
A couple minutes later a red headed guy came in.
"Your highness, Lady Josephine, good afternoon."
"Lance, don't be formal,"
"I cannot do that your highness."
"Come one, just call me Ed as always and you can call her Josephine."
"I don't believe Lady Josephine would like that."
"Yeah I don't care, call me whatever you want." I said in an irritated voice.
I'm normally friendly but I'm living on 1 hour of sleep.
"Can I go now, he's here, he'll follow me, now I wanna go home and sleep." I said
He started chuckling
"Sure Jose but would you like to have afternoon tea with me?"
I'm angry. I used my magic and made a needle of ice appear next to his neck.
"I'm tired Edgar, and I will kill you."
He put his hands signalling surrender
"Yes m'am."
When I made the ice disappear, I felt something sharp on my neck. Lance's behind me and pointing a sword to me.
Edgar frowned and talked in a low voice.
"Lance, what are you doing? Lower your weapon."
"Your highness, she threatened you, that's against the law, she should be killed."
"Lance, she was't serious an-"
"And even if you tried to kill me you would fail miserably, red." I interrupted
"My name isn't red, it's lance."
"Yeah whatever Red."
Using the contact between his sword and my neck, I froze his sword. When it was completely frozen, I flicked the sword with my figure and it shattered into pieces.
I turned around
"Wanna see a better side of me, then lets leave, I need to sleep, I'm running on 1hr of sleep and I'm very hungry."
He looked at me with widened eyes.
We left Edgars office and went back to the carriage. The whole way back to the estate it was quiet, he was quietly observing me while I was looking through the window with heavy eyes.
When we got back Jaime welcomed us.
"Welcome back Milady, and this I-"
"Jaime lance, lance Jaime. He's the knight Edgar assigned to me, she's my maid. Jaime, get him a room and settle him in. Bye."
"Milady, where are you going?"
"To sleep."
I went back to my room and crashed my head down onto the pillow and instantly fell asleep

I woke up about 6 hours later, it was about 5pm and it was still light outside.
I slept really well.
I walked out and said hi to Jaime.
I walked to the living room and saw Alex and Lance talking to each other.
When I walked over, Lance immediately stood up and bowed, he was about to open his mouth when I waved my hand.
"Don't worry about the formality, just be casual, you can call me Josephine."
I sat down next to Alex. Lance still looked confused.
"Well? Sit." I told him
He sat down and looked at me while frowning
"What?" I asked
Alex then started laughing
"Lance is confused about your sudden change in attitude. Lance, dude, don't worry, she hasn't had much sleep cause of the Assassins, and like I said before she's sensitive so she hasn't slept much. Now she had a nap, she's back to normal."
"I'm not that much different when I'm tired or not."
"Oh please, you're like a beast when you're tired."
I huffed and punched him in the arm. I looked back at Lance.
"So red, you'll be my personal knight, It's nice to meet you."
"My name is Lance, Lady Josephine,"
"..Yeah.... Red, Stop saying lady, Just call me Josephine."
"I can't lady Jo-"
"Yeah I'm not asking, I'm ordering you."
He looked dumbfounded
Alex then started laughing again. Strangely I just don't feel patient.
"You're hungry aren't you." Asked Alex
I frowned and touched my stomach.
"Yeah. You guys talk I'm going to eat something."
Alex then started laughing again as I walked away.
Lances POV:
"What?"
"I wanted you to Guard My fiancee Josephine"
"But I'm your knight Edgar, Can't you find someone else?"
"Nope"
"Your highness-"
"You're doing it, no questions. It's only temporary anyway"
I became Edgars knight because I saved him when we were young, he also helped my family with money crisis. I then devoted myself to protect him.
But he wants me to protect his fiancee? Why? I don't want to protect some flirty Noble girl who jumps herself onto my friend. There's just no point.
Edgars fiancee then comes into the palace, I didn't see her face, all I saw was her black hair. She didn't even wait for the maid to open the door, she did it herself. How much of a rush is she in to jump onto him?
I waited outside, I couldn't hear anything though until the maid told me Edgar called for me.
I went inside and I saw Edgar and the black haired girl, I moved to behind her. Again. All I could see was her black hair.
"Your highness, Lady Josephine, good afternoon." I greeted
"Lance, don't be formal,"
What? Doesn't he need to be formal?
"I cannot do that your highness."
"Come on, just call me Ed as always and you can call her Josephine."
What? Why? She's of a higher status! No one likes to be called by there given name by someone of a lower status
"I don't believe Lady Josephine would like that." I stated
"Yeah I don't care, call me whatever you want."She said in an irritated voice.
What? I'm confused. Why is she talking like that? Shouldn't she keep her image up in-front of a prince??
"Can I go now, he's here, he'll follow me, now I wanna go home and sleep." She said
Sleep? Huh? Again! I'm confused
Edgar then started chuckling
"Sure Jose but would you like to have afternoon tea with me?"
What a kind gesture, I don't believe I've ever seen him treat a girl like that.
But then Lady Josephine used her magic and made a needle of ice appear next to his neck.
"I'm tired Edgar, and I will kill you." She said
WHAT? IS SHE CRAZY? HOW DARE SHE!
Edgar then put his hands signalling surrender
"Yes m'am."
How can he surrender and accept it so easily!? She's threatening him!
I couldn't help it, I then pointed my sword next to her neck.
Edgar frowned and talked in a low voice.
"Lance, what are you doing? Lower your weapon."
What? I'm saving you!
"Your highness, she threatened you, that's against the law, she should be killed."
"Lance, she was't serious an-"

Red? Did she call me Red? Cause of my hair! Huh?
"My name isn't red, it's lance." I stated
"Yeah whatever Red." what?
I just told her not to call me red!
Suddenly my sword was completely frozen, She flicked the sword with her figure and it shattered into pieces.
What? my sword in imbedded with magic. Is she powerful?
She turned around
"Wanna see a better side of me, then lets leave, I need to sleep, I'm running on 1hr of sleep and I'm very hungry."
I looked at her with widened eyes, she's acting like this because she's tired? What? Again, again, again! I'm confused.
She took me to the carriage, the whole way to her estate, the carriage was full of silence as I observed her.
When we entered a red headed maid appeared.
"Welcome back Milady, and this I-"
"Jaime lance, lance Jaime. He's the knight Edgar assigned to me, she's my maid. Jaime, get him a room and settle him in. Bye." She said quickly
She then walked off
"Milady, where are you going?"
"To sleep."
I looked at the maid and she looked at me with a smile.
"Sir Lance, please follow me as I take you to your room."
I followed her to a guest room, she then warmed up a bath for me and new new set of cloths.
After that, She gave me a tour around the estate. It's a really big place.
When the tour was done I saw Alex and waved.
He saw me and waled over.
"Lance, hey! What are you doing here."
"I've been assigned to guard your sister for a year by Ed."
"What? That's why he asked for her?"
"Yeah"
"Why today..." he mumbled
What's wrong with today?
He then looked up at me with a grin
"What do you think of her"
"Huh?"
"What do you think of my sister, and be honest."
"Honestly, she was rude and kinda weird. She called me red, didn't behave properly AND she even threatened Ed with a ice needle near his neck. Adding onto that she kept talking about sleep. I didn't get it"
"PFFWAHAHAHAHAHA."
Alex started laughing uncontrollably, when he finally stopped he told me to sit down then he kept laughing.
"What?" I asked
"So here's the thing. Josephine is really strong, She's nearly just as strong as Ed, the've sparred so many times, once they were both so worn out they collapsed at the same time."
"What? She's as strong as Edgar! No way!"
"Yeah it's true, and because of her position there have been assassinations nearly everyday in the middle of the night. She has very sensible senses, so when someone comes in it'll wake her up, then she kills them and has to call someone to clean it up. The point is she hasn't been sleeping well. Today happened to be worse. there have been 2 at night at different times so she only had 1 hour of sleep. When Jose doesn't have enough sleep, she's extremely cranky so thats why she was rude.
"What? seriously?"
"Oh yeah, let me ask, did Ed ask her to stay with a random reason?"
"Yeah right before she threatened him, he asked if she wanted afternoon tea."
"There we go, he did it on purpose cause he knew she was tired."
"Just wait till she wakes up then she'll be in a bette rmood, but your nickname might stick."
"Huh?"
He then sips his tea and looks away like he didn't say anything.
Well this explains alot, this Josephine is really weird.
Soon after Josephine came out.
And Alex started to talk.
"Lance is confused about your sudden change in attitude. Lance, dude, don't worry, she hasn't had much sleep cause of the Assassins, and like I said before she's sensitive so she hasn't slept much. Now she had a nap, she's back to normal."
"I'm not that much different when I'm tired or not." She said
"Oh please, you're like a beast when you're tired." Replied Alex
She then looked at me
"So red, you'll be my personal knight, It's nice to meet you."

"..Yeah.... Red, Stop saying lady, Just call me Josephine."
Wha?
"I can't lady Jo-"
"Yeah I'm not asking, I'm ordering you."
I felt dumbfounded, Wow. She has a very interesting personality.
Alex then started laughing again.
"You're hungry aren't you." Asked Alex
Hungry? What's with the sudden question?
"Yeah. You guys talk I'm going to eat something."
Alex then started laughing again as she walked away.
"I probably forgot to mention, when she's extremely hungry she gets impatient."
What? Omg. I'm guarding her? Does she even need protecting? She's really weird.
***
*Night time
It's night time and I'm in the guest room, I get dressed and head to bed, but after awhile I suddenly sense something coming.
I got up and got dressed about to go out the door until I see a figure passing the window. I jump out of the window and chase him.
He then enters Josephines room, right after he did, I did, and with one slash he died in Josephines room.
I looked over to her and saw she had her eyes closed. Is she awake?
I walk over to her bed side and looked at her face.
She's actually really beautiful.
I looked at her again.
Is she awake?
"Yes I'm awake, I was awake the moment he appeared outside the window."
She talked way too suddenly, it gave me a small fright.
She then opened her eyes then sat up and looked at me.
"Even with someone killing for me, I can't sleep."
"I'm sorry Lad-"
"Josephine"
"My apologies, Josephine,"
I hesitated to call her name
"Eh, nothing you can do, it's not like I can close my senses when I sleep, what if I really do get killed."
I looked at her looking at me with her midnight blue eyes.
I then bowed
"I'll get going Lad- Josephine."
"Nah, stay, I'm awake anyway. lets talk"
Talk?
Josephines POV:
I sat him down and got him and myself a glass of water.
"So we didn't talk properly before so lets now."
He didn't talk so I started
"Lance, What's your family like."
he hesitated for a moment
"My fathers is Baron Flinister, and my mother died as well as my sister. All my father does right now is drink and work, he and I don't even talk.
"Baron Flinister, he had that bankruptcy 4 years ago right?"
"Yep."
"Hmm, so you guys don't talk... Why?"
"My mum and sister died because of the bankruptcy, the opponent killed them. My father was devastated and kept drinking while I went to look for Edgar for help. After the help my father couldn't even look at me, he blamed me for not looking after my sister and mother so now he's not talking to me."
"How old was you sister during the incident?"
"12"
"So then how is it your fault, it's not like you had to look after a 12 years old girl and a fully grown adult, so how is it your fault, more like your fathers fault for causing the bankruptcy. And plus your younger than both of them, what the heck could you have done?"
"Hey! my father is no-"
"Omg, your defending a person who's blaming you for the death of the two when it's clearly his fault? Even if you were with them what could you have done? You were a 10 year old brat. And by the way, when they were getting killed, where was your father?"
He opened his mouth but nothing came out.
"Just chill."
"I don't know what to do, I wanna have a good relationship with him but I don't know how."
"Talk to him like normal human beings, if he's not wanting to talk then force him too."
"..."
"I'm not kidding, you look like you're killing yourself about it inside, even if you don't get forgiven, after talking about it you might even feel a tad bit satisfying."
"You think."
"Oh, yeah."
He then chuckles abit
"Yeah sure, I'll do that."
"Thats right."
We then sat there in silence for awhile.
"Josephine...What's your magic? I heard you're also a Duo-user"
"Yeah, I use ice magic and dark magic. You?"
"Poison and wind."
"Ohhh, good combination."
"Thank you."
We stayed silent again
"Josephine, is it true that you and Edgar sparred?"
"Alex told you?"
He nodded
"Yeah we sparred alot. I used to win more but when we got older he had more physical strength so when we would usually beat each other to the point where the last blow counts, he would win cause I wouldn't have enough physical strength. And plus he has more mana."
"Hahaha."
He's actually laughing for once and that's when I joined him.
"Say Josephine, I hope we can be good friends."
"Same here."
"Also, do you mind sparring with me? Just swords?"
"Sure but I dropped learning swords along time ago. I prefer using the double dagger technique."
"Thats good then."
"Nice, then we'll find a day."
"Okay then."
And that's how our night ended.
