//Zak's POV\\
The bell rang and I rushed out the doors and headed home. I was stopped at the doors to the school because the principal had locked the doors and was standing with a megaphone.
"The fuck is he doing" I muttered as my friend came up behind me
"Don't fuckin know, but I gotta get home so he better hurry"
"We can all agree that this school needs improvement!" Said the principal" You may have noticed that you got little homework in your classes. That is because I am assigning extra homework. You will get 10 points in each class by doing this work. Turn it into me by next Friday."
"What the fuck?" Said my friend, very annoyed.
"Now what is the homework? Well I will assign you all to A and B teams. The A teams will all draw a name from this bin and that is who you have been assigned. If you get yourself, put it back in and draw again. Then I want you to meet up with your partner and create a way to improve the school."
"This is the most sketch school ever" I said
"They could just leave a suggestion box and have the nerds give suggestions" my friend said
I was assigned A, and I went to grab my paper. I opened it. It read "Zak." I got a new one, which read "Darryl."
"Fucks sake."
//Darryl's POV\\
I watched and waited for my partner to come talk to me. I was excited to make a new friend! What if it was one of the popular girls? What if it was that cute girl I sit behind in biology? Oh no what if it's...
"Darryl" Zak said
"Yes?" I said, scowling
He showed me the note, and I groaned. We arranged a time to meet up. I was going to come to his house tomorrow afternoon. I was not excited.

After I got out of school I headed to his house. He wrote me a note with his address on it, and the words "show up r die tmr" (lick or die tmr)
When I arrived I realized that Zak was RICH. We all knew he had money, but damn. He had a modern 4 story house with massive trees and expensive cars lining the driveway. I went up to the door and rang the doorbell. He opened it and welcomed me in with an annoyed nod.
"Beautiful house" I said politely.
"It's whatever" he said
We went into his living room. It was 2 stories high, with a massive glass window to the backyard. In the backyard was a pool with bubbling fountains, a hot tub, and even a small slide! Next to the window there was a glass staircase leading to the 2nd floor. You could see the living room from the 2nd floor where the bedrooms were.
Zak sat down crosslegged on the a large white poof pillow next to the large glass coffee table. He indicated for me to do the same. His dog came wandering in, and when he noticed me, he jumped onto me, licking my face.
"Rocco down" commanded Zak
The dog got off of me and sat down, wagging his tail eagerly.
"I love dogs" I said
"Do you have one?" He said
"I do! Her name is Lucy but I call her rat. She'd probably love Rocco!" I said, thinking about them being friends
"Rocco loves other dogs" said Zak
We talked a bit and then got to work. He didn't seem to be that mean. He was actually kinda nice to talk to! We decided that the school could use an improved lunch system. We began writing our idea into a business proposal type thing.
"It's been 3 hours" said Zak, yawning "wanna take a break by the pool?"
"Sure" I said
He went into the kitchen and grabbed a bag of pretzels and two cokes. We walked out to the pool and took off our shoes. We dipped our feet in the water and watched the sun sink down below the houses.
"It's kinda cold out here" I said, shivering
"Here" he took off his hoodie and gave it to me
"Oh! Thank you Zak!" I said, pulling it over my head.
"Of course dude" he said
Then Zak started to shiver, and I felt bad. I didn't have another hoodie, so I moved the food and drinks from in between us and sat closer to him. I wrapped my arm around him, trying to warm him up. He giggled, gently splashing his feet in the water.
He turned to me with his mouth open to say something. But then he closed his mouth, realizing we were really close together. I blushed as he looked into my eyes.
"You have really pretty eyes" he said softly
He leaned toward me, and I leaned toward him. I could feel my heart racing, but I didn't care.
Suddenly the door to the house opened and Zak's sister came out.
We pulled apart immediately, both flustered and surprised. Were we really going to kiss? I'm straight. Why would we? Maybe we weren't. Maybe he was just really really close to me. And felt like complimenting me. Maybe it's a guy thing.
"Zak I made dinner. Your boyfriend can come join if he wants" said his sister
"Dude what the fuck? He's not even my friend! I hate him!" Yelled Zak
His sister giggled "I'm going to hang out with Lizzie. Don't get too cozy. I don't know when I'll be back and I don't want to walk in on anything"
"K cool get out bye" said Zak
She walked away.
"W-we should go continue working" said Zak, stuttering
"Yeah" I said
We walked back inside and continued to work, a bit more shy than before.
"Can I ask you something?" I said
"Sure" said Zak
"Do we have to be enemies?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because we don't get along" he said frustratedly
"We got along fine tonight" I said
"...I don't wanna get bullied"
"What do you mean?" I said
"Well you aren't very liked at school. I can't be seen seriously talking to you. I'm the kid who beats you up!"
"We can play it up for school, Zak. That's no reason to deflect a potentially amazing friendship"
"I guess that's true..."
"Anyway it's getting late. I should go home." I said, standing up
"Noo don't go" he said, grabbing my arm and pulling me back down
"We finished our work though"
"We can watch a movie or play Minecraft in my cinema! Come on it's right next to my room."
"You have a cinema?! In your house?!?!"
"Yeah it's just like a real movie theater that we watch movies and play games on"
"You really are rich, aren't you Zak"
"Yep"
He led me up and we played Minecraft for hours. Before we knew it, midnight had rolled around.
"My house is so far from here..." I whined
"..You could stay here" said Zak
"Oh no you've already done too much. Please."
"Oh no no stay! We can have a sleepover in my room"
"Well if it wouldn't be too much..."
