Snape said nothing when he walked into his office. Alecto was standing behind him, smirking gleefully, but Snape showed no shock.
It was like he knew that they were going to do this. Like he knew that she was friends with the other three and he expected them to take the sword.
He looked at Vena, and arched his eyebrow so slight that no one would be able to notice unless they were close with him.
Vena swallowed thickly. She didn't know what was going to happen. She knew that Snape would never intentionally hurt her, as her and Draco are most likely the only children that he doesn't completely hate.
But she doesn't know what he's going to do in front of the others. He had a reputation to uphold.
He walked over to the four students, and stood in front of them. Then, he whipped out his wand, and pointed it at Vena.
'Act like it hurts,' he said in her mind.
Vena furrowed her brows, confused, but pursed her lips in understanding, and Snape muttered, "Crucio."
Vena couldn't believe it. He knew how to do it. How to talk in her mind, and how to falsely cast a Cruciatus Curse.
Vena had originally thought that she was the creator of the trick, but apparently not. Because Snape had discovered it as well. Who knows how long ago he had come up with this trick.
Due to Vena's experience with the Cruciatus Curse, it was fairly easy for her to act like he was hurting her. Damn, she deserves an award for her acting.
She tried to mimic the torture that she dealt with earlier, and gave it all she got. She hoped she wasn't overdoing it, but with the yells of protests from her friends she assumed that she was doing a good job.
About two minutes passed by, before Snape told her he was done in her mind.
She heard the sound of his arm dropping by his side, and Vena made sure to make a show that she was painting from the torture. She curled into herself, trying to mimic the pain she felt from two summers ago.
"Did you torture the others, Carrow?" Snape asked, turning towards Alecto.
"Yes, Headmaster. I made sure to take my time with them before I came to you," she said happily.
Snape nodded. "Very well then." He pointed his wand at Carrow, and whispered, "Legilimens."
A couple moments went by before he lowered his wand. "You should go back to bed, Carrow," Snape said diplomatically.
Still in her confused state, Carrow nodded. She left the room, and Snape walked in front of them.
Vena turned to the others, who all looked confused. They had never seen Snape act like a decent human being.
He pointed his wand at Seamus. "Legilimens."
Ginny, Stella, and Neville were too stunned to speak. Vena knew that if they weren't so confused by what was happening, they would be protesting a lot more. To be quite honest, Vena was confused too.
She did't know what the purpose was of him going inside their memories, rather than just obliviating them. Vena wanted to ask questions, but knew it wasn't the right time. Snape most likely wouldn't tell her with the others in the room anyway.
So they stood in silence, watching as Snape went inside Seamus' mind. Snape pulled out of Seamus' mind, and pointed his wand at Ginny. After he was finished, he repeated the same things to Neville and Stella.
Once he finished, he lowered his wand. "You four, get out of my sight. Malfoy, you stay."
They hesitated. Stella looked like he wanted to say something, but Vena shook her head. The others exchanged looks, before Ginny led the way out of the office. Neville, the last one to leave, turned back to see if she would be okay alone.
Vena smiled, just barely. The corners of her mouth only turned up a little bit, as she tried her best to show her friends some reassurance that she was fine.
The others didn't know Snape like she did. She knew that Snape wouldn't hurt her.
At the sound of the door close, Vena walked over to Snape's desk. He sat down as well, his cloak billowing behind him.
"Carrow has already told me what happened. I had to alter the other four's memories due to your incompetency. What were you thinking?" He asked, his voice harsh.
Well, that's the problem. Vena wasn't really thinking. She had a seed of doubt, but she didn't think logically enough to actually listen to herself. She had been too caught up in trying to be good, and trying to do the right thing.
There was a reason why her family were all Slytherins, and not just because it's in their blood. Slytherins didn't do things to be good, they did things to survive.
And what Vena did was definitely something that everyone else in her family would not do. It was impulsive and rash and purely Gryffindor.
Perhaps Vena was a Gryffindor after all.
"I didn't want to do it, originally," Vena argued. "Ginny wanted to give it to the Order. That's all I'm saying about the matter."
He pursed his lips in frustration, before walking over to the pensive and taking out the memory. "I altered the others memories. It is much more precise to use Legilimency than Obliviation. They all think that I had punished them for their disobedience. You are to pretend that I tortured them. With Carrow, I changed hers so that she can't identify you in her memories. She knows that another student was there, but she doesn't know that it was you. We are going to keep it that way."
"Thank you sir," Vena said gratefully.
And she was grateful. She had no idea how she was going to pull herself and her friends out of this mess that she had helped create.
Vena wondered how her life had even become to this. Back in fourth year, she only talked to Slytherins, Stella, Cho, and Cedric.
She was dating Theo, and had known that one day, she was going to marry him. Cedric would come to her for advice on how to ask Cho to the Yule Ball, and Vena found out that Stella liked her brother. Her and Theo placed bets on every task, and had lost their virginities to each other the night of the Yule Ball.
She separated herself from Gryffindors; had put herself in a different category. She didn't relate herself to them, or connect with any of them at all.
The Gryffindor Tower was merely a place to sleep in and hold her belongings. She had nothing to do with Harry, or his doing-the-right-thing energy. She never saw herself as brave, or believe that she would be on the good side, and yet, here she was.
Vena pulled herself out of her thoughts once she realized that Snape had not said anything for a long time.
Sensing that the conversation was over, Vena made her way to leave Snape with his thoughts. She took one last glance at Dumbledore's painting, and left the room.
It was now morning, and the rays from the sun started peering through the windows of the school.
The sun rays reminded her of Harry. How the two would spend their insomnia filled nights talking to each other. She hoped that wherever he was, he was safe.
Strangely, she still felt weak from being tortured. It had been about an hour since it last happened, but since she spent the whole summer training it shouldn't have hurt any longer.
She supposed Carrow tortured her longer than she originally thought. Her vision began to feel fuzzy. She began to see black and white, but Vena kept pushing through to make it to the Head Dorms.
She didn't know why her body is so weak. It started to become to hard to walk, so Vena leaned against the wall for assistance.
She had to make it. There was no way that she was going to pass out in the corridor.
But her face screwed up with the sudden pain. Her breathing became heavy, and Vena felt blood drip down her left arm. Panting, she leaned against the wall, and rolled up the sleeve of her dress.
Her mark was red and puffy, and black blood was pouring out of it. Vena could feel bile claw its way up her throat, and she slowly dragged her back against the wall until she hit the ground.
Vena curled herself into a ball, clutching the outside of her forearm. She doesn't know how long she was there, but it felt like forever. The pain was never-ending.
She kept going in and out of consciousness, the blackness forming every time she blinked beckoning her to close her eyes for the last time.
She gave in, and slowly closed her eyes to go to sleep, until she felt a hand on her shoulder. Her eyes widened in shock, but her vision was blurry. She thought it was one of the Carrows, which made her flinch.
"Shh, shh," the voice said calmly.
Her vision cleared up, and saw that it was Theo calming her down. Hovering over his shoulder was Blaise. Vena smiled faintly.
It was her friends. She was safe.
"Stay awake, Vi. Stay awake, alright?" Theo asked, his eyes darting all over her face, checking if she was alert.
Vena's throat constricted itself. She couldn't speak, so she just nodded.
"Okay, okay," Theo said.
"We need to get her to the hospital wing," Blaise said, his voice calming like always.
His voice reminded Vena of the moon on a warm, cloudless night.
Vena shook her head. She couldn't go to the hospital wing. She knew that if she did go there, she would draw attention to herself.
And she didn't want the Carrows finding out that every time the Dark Lord called for his followers, Vena's mark would bleed. She had a feeling that the Carrows would use it against her somehow.
Maybe she's being paranoid. But Vena didn't want to take any chances.
She cleared her throat, and forced herself to speak. "No. Not the hospital wing."
"Nope," Theo said while picking her up bridal-style," "We're not listening to you. You're too confused."
If Vena had enough strength at the moment, she would've punched him. She couldn't, but she was able to roll her eyes. "Not the hospital wing, jackass."
Theo and Blaise exchanged looks. Vena wanted to slap them. She was bleeding out of her arm, telling them not to go to the hospital wing, and they were acting as if she had all the time in the world.
"Take me to the Room of Requirement," she said, her voice cracking.
"Why the fuck would we take you to the Room of Requirement?" Theo asked, walking down the corridor, in the opposite direction of the room.
"Just do it," she directed.
Theo and Blaise ignored her, still walking in the direction of the hospital wing.
As they turned the corner, they bumped into another figure, causing Vena to groan in pain.
"What happened?" A voice asked. Ah. Draco. At least someone would listen to her.
"Her arm's bleeding out," Blaise said.
"Yeah it does that a lot," Draco retorted. "You guys need to take her to the Room of Requirement."
"Thank you!" she croaked out.
"Why would we take her there? What the fuck is there?" Theo protested.
Draco stuttered. "No questions. Just promise that after we leave you will not blab your mouth."
Theo jerked his head in offense. "I do not blab!"
"Yes you do," all three chorused.
Theo was going to protest, but Vena stopped him. "I am on the brink of consciousness. Take me to the damn room now!"
"Okay, Okay!" Theo said, and all three boys dashed to the seventh floor.
Vena's eyes felt heavier and heavier, and she knew it would be much better if she just closed them.
She saw Harry in the meadow of forget-me-nots, begging her to be there with him. And she wanted to desperately.
As her eyes flickered between reality and her mind, she saw Draco pace back and forth three times. The door to the DA had opened, and all three boys walked in.
Vena was shocked that she was still awake. She thought she would've passed out by now.
She was settled into a chair, and through her tired eyes she saw Draco walk up to the shelf of all of the potions she had made, grabbing the Blood-Replenishing and Dittany.
Vena knew that neither would work very well, but she didn't want to tell her brother.
He walked over to her, panicked, as Blaise and Theo hovered behind him. He guided her into an up-right position, and helped her swallow the potion.
She felt slightly better, and Vena was able to open her eyes clearly. And to her horror she saw all of the DA members behind her Draco, Blaise, and Theo.
Draco ignored them, but Blaise and Theo seemed to only realize that they were there now. They turned around, shocked, while Draco was still taking in his sister's appearance.
Vena leaned a little to the left, to get the reactions of the other members. All of their jaws were dropped, besides Neville, Stella, and Ginny.
"What the fuck are they doing here?" Zacharius Smith said, standing up and glaring at the three boys.
"What the fuck is this place?" Theo asked, turning back to Vena.
Vena had no idea how the next few minutes were going to pan out.

AN:
I began writing my smut Harry fic, and I forgot how difficult it was to write from scratch. I have improved since October, which is when I started writing forget-me-not so that's good at least. But I lowkey don't have a plot I just had an idea so I'm struggling. With this story I knew pretty much what I wanted to happen each chapter, but I wanted to use my new fic to work on certain aspects of writing. I'm mostly using my new fic to focus on writing quidditch matches, friend dynamics, and smut cuz I feel like I'm weak in those areas. I have sort of an idea chapter by chapter but it's not in order so I think I'm going to do that tonight. I plan on making my new fic 2500 to 3000 words. That might be a little ambitious and probably won't happen, but it's my goal. It might be a while till I start posting my new fic, so just don't expect it coming out right after I'm done with forget-me-not like I originally planned. Hope you enjoyed the chapter though!!
