Chapter 32
For the first few weeks, since I came back to Tokyo, it never felt like I left this place nearly two months ago. I didn't even realize na gano'n na pala ang itinakbo ng panahon since we first met and everything feels surreal for me.
Kung noon boss lamang ang turing ko sa kanya but this time, there's a real connection between us. We're not official yet, but I planned on making it official tonight. Ako na talaga ang magsasabi 'cause I know Trent has been waiting for it for so long, sagot ko na lamang ang hinihintay niya.
Hindi rin naman ako nagmamadali. I'm trying to take everything smoothly na tipong, kikilalanin muna ulit namin ang isa't isa. Like before, nakilala niya ako bilang isang nanny which has a whole different role for him. I'm more than someone who works for him and to think how crazy it went to the point na I was about to fall on depression after leaving Tokyo and then here I am now.
It's still hard to believe na may posible pa rin pala talagang mangyari kahit na noon ay parang imposible ang mga sitwasyon. Maybe that's how fate actually works. If it really meant to be, it will be.
Maaga ako nagising ngayon, just like the usual routine I had before, nagluto ako ng almusal ni Trent. We also shared the same bed na kaya tahimik akong bumaba ng kama ko. It wasn't the first time we shared a bed together, marami nang pagkakataon 'yon at masasabi kong masarap kayakap si Trent though minsan masasaktan na lang ako kapag madadaganan niya sa sobra ba namang laki ng katawan.
They said na kapag malaki ang katawan, maliit ang sausage and that's the opposite of Trent. Kaya naman early in the morning, I cooked a sausage na talaga namang memorable sa akin all through my working experience with him.
There were a lot of things na maraming masasayang nangyari sa akin noon kaya memorable para sa akin ang pagsisimula ko sa trabaho ko no'n. And the fact that I could still remember Albertyne. Naalala ko lang din siya bigla sa nabasa kong article that was something about fashion.
"And here's my future wife." Tumapon naman ang tingin ko kay Trent nang pumasok ng kusina. "Good morning, love."
It's also crazy to hear him calling me from Lav to love and I guess this transitioning wouldn't be normal for me. Para akong bumalik sa adjusting period ko na lahat na lang ng gagawin ko ay kinakapa ko pa dahil wala akong kaalam-alam but now is different.
Some things may have changed but there were still some remained what they are.
"Good morning din, love," pagbati ko. Nilapitan ko naman siya para halikan pero iniwas niya ang mukha sa akin.
Sumalubong naman ang kilay ko sa ginawa niya.
"What's going on?"
"I haven't brushed my teeth yet," he reasoned.
I pouted. "'Yon lang naman pala. Hindi naman big deal."
He laughed. "You just wanted to kiss me 'no?"
"Of course, at alam kong gusto mo rin but you're so being maarte right now. Magmumog ka na lang muna kasi I'm about to finish your breakfast."
"Our breakfast," he corrected. "You don't work for me anymore so it's our breakfast."
"Sorry naman! I was just getting carried away. Alam mo naman na nasa adjusting period pa rin ako ngayon. Kahit sabihin na nating I was here before, I came here not a nanny na so I'm so confused pa."
Napangisi na lamang si Trent after gurgling. "I've missed you—hearing all these rants every morning made me remembered all those first weeks you have in here. I'm glad we're now starting a new phase of our lives."
"Bakit naman ang sweet mo kay aga-aga?"
He smirked. "Maybe I just missed you. That's all."
"Oh, well, fair enough," aniko at sinimulan ko nang ayusin ang hapagkain. "Settle down while I'm preparing our breakfast. What do you want? Coffee, cold brew or, tea?"
"Your milk, love,"
I threw glares at him. "No, you can't my milk."
"But I'm your baby, right?"
Napalunok naman ako ng lawat sa sinabi niya. "Still no. I think kailangan mo ng matapang na kape para magising ang diwa mo. You shouldn't be saying those words nang ganito kaaga."
"No one would hear us though. No one's around," he reasoned. "Unless you wanted to have a child with me sooner."
Binasa ko naman ang kamay ko at winisik ko sa kanya.
"And now you wanted to see me wet." He scrunched his nose. "Do you want to see me naked now?"
"No." Napahilamos ang kamay ko sa mukha. "I didn't even say you should all those things. Anyway, kumain na nga lang tayo at baka sa ibang kainan pa mapunta ang usapang 'to."
"Why?" he asked, raising a brow. "They said that other kind of breakfast was the best source of protein."
"Nye, nye," I mumbled, making faces. "I'm not listening."
Sabay na rin naman kaming kumain and he kept saying how he missed my cooking. Natutuwa naman ako kapag naririnig ko sa kanya 'yon. It felt like everything that has been going on now is heading to its right direction and falling into the right place. I mean, I wouldn't be anywhere right now but with Trent and if not, magkukulong ako sa kwarto ko and has the possibilities to grow old alone.
"I have a question," I said, wiping my mouth with napkin. He looked at me then drink his water.
"What about it?"
"It's just my curiosity," I started. "I just wanted to know what you're thinking when you find out that I was a Mercondia? That I don't actually need your money or getting my salary raised, or anything does it has to do with money. So... what did you think about it then?"
"Nothing," he said, napakunot-noo naman ako sa sinabi niya. "I mean, it doesn't matter to me if you grew up with all the things you needed or not. It's your life and I can't tell you what you have to do because back then, you only follow what I ordered. It's my responsibility to see how well you do your job."
"And now that I'm not working for you—that I'm not your nanny anymore, what do think would happen then?"
"You're someone who's not working for me anymore," he said. "There would be no limitation to what could be our relationship now. Whatever we do and wherever, it's nice to be around you and that's the most special thing I've had right now."
Napangiti ako. "Special?"
He nodded his head. "Hai."
"You know what, Sasa told me that they will going out tomorrow."
Napakunot naman ng noo si Trent dahil sa sinabi ko. "Oh, really? Are they dating now?"
I shrugged off. "Not what Sasa told me directly, but I believe nakakapagpalagayan na sila ng loob so hindi rin imposible na mahulog ang damdamin ni Dakito kay Sasa."
Napangisi naman si Trent sa sinabi ko.
I scrunched my face. "Hindi ka ba naniniwala ro'n? Kung hindi imposible sa atin 'yong nangyari, I think it's time for Sasa to be happy na rin, 'di ba?"
Pero inilingan niya ako. Halatang hindi sang-ayon sa mga sinasabi ko. "I don't they will go to the point. They just knew each other, right? Sasa was working for him for almost two months so I don't believe he had feelings for her. Maybe Sasa got it all wrong. Maybe he just wanted her around to accompany him."
"Parang same lang naman kung gano'n," sagot ko. "Kung tayo nga, halos wala pang isang buwan ay nakapagpalagayan na ng loob. You took me to a party before. Buy me some dresses and such. Sa tingin mo ba you just wanted me to accompany you... but at first thought, ye but then habang tumatagal... I just felt."
"You just felt what?" he countered.
"Na fa-fall ka na sa akin," direkta kong sagot sa kanya. Pero agad naman niya akong tinawanan. "Hindi naman ako nag-jo-joke para tumawa ka."
"You're right," sagot niya na biglang sumeryoso ang ekspresyon ng mukha. "I wasn't truly falling for you that time but I was into the feeling of falling. Do you get what I mean??" he asked and I just nodded. "I don't know how to say but hey, words weren't enough to justify the actions so let it be."
"I must agree as well," aniko. "Anyway, have you seen the news about Albertyne?"
He shook his head. "No. What about her?"
"Well, I think it was really great of her to move back to her country gayong nabasa ko sa isang article online ay mas nakikilala siya ro'n. She has been getting a lot of recognition there though there was something na nabasa ko na na-link sa 'yo but I don't think you have to do something about it. She's happy on her own world na naman."
"She don't matter to me anymore..."
I slowly nodded when I remembered something. "Was she... uhm... the only one you've been having sex with?"
His jaw tightened then drink on his water.
"If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay. Naiintindihan ko rin naman."
"Love," pagtawag niya sa akin. "You have to know that you're the one I wanted to be with and all those girls I've dated before were no part of my life anymore. It's only you now."
Napahugot na lang din naman ako ng malalim na hininga. Well, that's enough for me to hear it from him.
Matapos naming kumain ay tinulungan naman ako ni Trent na maghugas ng mga pinagkainan namin at siya na ang naglinis ng mesa. I also had a random talk with Trent that if there's a chance he would hire a nanny again and he directly said to me na hindi na niya gagawin 'yon. I was enough na raw but I clarified to him na hindi na nga niya ako nanny and he still wouldn't.
I mean, it was okay for me dahil kaya ko naman gawin 'yong mga ginagawa ko before at hindi naman hadlang sa akin na ginagawa ko 'to because I wanted to do it. Dati, I was doing every chores out of job but because everything changed na, it's just me keeping the house clean.
All through the day, kung hindi nakahiga ay nakatambay lamang ako sa balcony. Naging busy rin naman si Trent sa kakasagot ng mga tawag regarding business matters kaya hinahayaan ko muna siyang mapag-isa.
A moment later, may tumawag sa amin mula sa front desk. Ako naman ang sumagot habang abala pa rin si Trent kausap ang kanyang mga executives. When the staff from the front desk told me that Trent's mother and Tonton was down on the lobby. I immediately announced it to Trent and he instantly ended the call with his executives to attend his mother and Tonton down the lobby.
Tumungo naman kami roon ay ilang saglit lang din ay nakita na namin sila na naghihintay sa amin. I immediately hugged them dahil na-miss ko rin silang dalawa. Kahit isang beses ko pa lamang silang nakakasama noon ay ramdam na ramdam ko na kung paano nila iparamdam na welcome na welcome ako sa pamilya nila.
It was then I just found out na death anniversary pala ng father ni Trent so they will be visiting them tomorrow so I guess, going out with Sasa tomorrow night will be postponed to other night. Mas priority namin ang pagdalaw bukas.
And knowing Trent he looked up to his father, hindi ko dapat baliwalain 'yon. Wala siya ngayon sa sitwasyon niyang ito kung hindi dahil sa kanyang wala. But also without his perseverance to continue the legacy of his father, hindi niya rin mararating ang ganitong karangyang buhay. Trent didn't seem bother how much money coming in and out of his bank account, ang mahalaga sa kanya ay ang kanyang pamilya.
And now that my family supported every decision I made, wala na dapat akong ikahiya because sooner or later, hindi rin imposibleng magkaroon na kami ng sarili naming pamilya. We're not even boyfriend or girlfriend pero nandoon na kaagad ang pag-iisip ko, but I'm surely positive that while taking everything slow, mararating din namin ang dulo.
Even if it would take a decade or so, that should be worth the wait.
Later in the evening, me and Trent's mom shared the kitchen to cook for something but I was just her helper when she does all the stuff. She even said heartwarming words that made me flutter. Na pinigilan ko lang umiyak sa harap niya because to what I know before, Trent deserved someone better but when her mom said it, apo na lamang ang hinihintay niya sa amin. It was hilarious but it will be a long way and it's gonna be a long journey for us.
And here what she said, trust me, Trent will be a good husband to you. He will protect you and love you like what his father did to me. You don't have to know it, he'll show it so when the time comes everything fall into the right place, you'll see what I'm talking about.
And with that, it's gonna be a quite long journey.
