Caroline looked at elena and shook her head after stefan died caroline didn't know what her purpose was but she knew that everywhere elena was involved trouble was just brewing, damon didn't have his brother anymore alaric & jo were busy running their school & raising their twins ( this doesn't happen in the show but this is my story) elena knew that caroline was mad at her but right now she didn't care because she only thought of herself
Bonnie was gone after enzo died she didn't much have the heart to stay in mystic falls , one day caroline got a phone call from rebekah; both klaus & elijah were dead caroline broke down
Klaus was the one love that she could count on making her feel good
Caroline that day went into mystic grill were elena and damon were laughing on how klaus was dead and never coming after them caroline order something to go since she didn't want to be in elena's orbit
When elena called caroline she didn't answer knowing elena want to talk ill of the dead caroline felt pain for klaus' daughter hope & the reminder of his siblings that were hurting but caroline was also hurting not that elena or damon cared but klaus was her true love the bad boy that made her love again after matt & tyler left her
So she decides that she needs a new life

Caroline packed her bags and booked a ticket for the bus hoping that Elena and Damon would not stop her so she texted Matt to take her the bus station , when Matt took Caroline to the bus station and bought her ticket not knowing why Caroline would leave Elena and Damon and said that they might miss her
Caroline: like they miss klaus? They partied and laugh like he wasn't even human
Matt just looked at Caroline knowing she was right : okay but with you and Bonnie gone I'll be here alone with Elena and Damon
Caroline shook her head: leave while you can okay look Stefan is gone Bonnie is gone & klaus is gone I know he wasn't your favorite vampire but he was sorry that Vicki was dead he did not plan for her to be a vampire or a ghost you know that right? Matt: yeah you make sense and I'm sorry that I joined in with Elena and Damon on their partying for klaus being dead
Caroline got on the bus and the bus took off for New York hoping that state would give her a new normal , just then Elena called but Caroline turned her phone off when Caroline saw that she had a missed phone call from Elena and heard the voicemail
Elena: hey just wondering where you are , I tried your doorbell but no one answered call me please , okay just call me please bye
Caroline rolled her eyes and when she got into New York And bought a new phone with a new number
