“RISE AND SHINE ITS TIME TO-oh Mr Zhongli your here too “ Childe barged into his housemate’s room to find him cuddled close to his sparing buddy , his annoying best friend Ms Yujing

No one knew she agreed to occasionally spar with him and she told him to keep it that way since Mr Zhongli would kill us both

“ Morning tart-OoF” She replied tiredly trying to sit up , not noticing her ‘bao bei’ Zhongli had fell asleep on her chest

“ Hey zhongzhong wake up “ She whispered shaking the said male earning a groan as he hid his face in the crook of her neck

“no...can we just stay like this for five minutes-“

“You guys have been together for literally one day-ugh C’mon Mr Zhongli wakey wakey we have a business trip to go on ”

“Right...” He sighed Pulling away and rolling off the bed , rubbing his eyes tiredly as he made his way to get ready

“ Business trip ? How come i didn’t know about it ? “ Yujing asked raising an eyebrow at Childe upon Zhongli leaving the room

“ His expertise were requested in mondstadt...we were pretty surprised too , we got the letter this morning .I promise your favourite person would be back by tonight “ Childe replied scratching his neck shrugging while he tries to escape suspicion from the violet eyed girl

“ My favourite person...you mean zhongli ? “

“ How can you replace your best friend so quickly ?! Sigh but yes we’ll be back by midnight “

“ That’s odd “

“that mondstadt , no Grandmaster Jean would require Zhongli’s assistance” She frowned thinking of reasons that the rulers of mondstadt required help not from the qixing but from the wangsheng

“ We have no clue either but work is work i guess“ The orange head shook his head and diverted his gaze to his friend who just re-entered the room

“ so see you both tonight ? “ Yujing asked hopefully visibly upset

“ Yup “

“ Please don’t stay up too late...the journey back from mondstadt might take awhile ok ? “ Zhongli suggested , engulfing her in a warm hug

“ Don’t get Zhongli in trouble Tart , i know how much you enjoy ‘ playfully ‘ insulting the knights . If you do anything to cause you both to be stuck in mondstadt I will come over and deal with you myself “ Yujing threatened pointing her finger at her best friend over her lovers shoulder

“ hey hey i won’t you aren’t the only one who wants to be home safe “ Childe defended raising his hands in surrender

“ I trust Childe would be on his best behaviour “ Zhongli smiled causing her to pout

“he better be “

“ Then you pretty boys should be off now so you can return earlier ! Now run along boys and try not to get killed “ She shooed pushing both men out of the bedroom

Childe POV

“ Alright now that we have just been kicked out of your room we should get this contract over with “ i nudged Mr Zhongli , winking at the amber eyed male as we left our home

“ i really don’t like that we lied to her like that...” He sighed shaking his head

“Hey it’s to keep our precious friend save alright ? We both don’t want her to get hurt” I lazily slung my arm around his shoulders earning a huff from him

“Yes but i know she would be upset she wasn’t invited to even watch-“

“ I doubt she would want to watch her friends from mondstadt get beaten up by her boyfriend “ i laughed awkwardly as i felt him stiffen up

“S-she has friends in mondstadt ?”

“Yeah she has been there a few times with me , i practically dragged her there to make my trip less boring...Kaeya and Diluc despite having their differences both took an immediate liking to her since she looked so fragile “

I Still remember how Kaeya and Diluc started arguing infront of us at the tavern over who would bring Yujing around mondstadt while i went about my fatui harbinger duties . Yes, they were not too happy with me being a fatui harbinger but i wasn’t there to stir up trouble so they let me off

“However i don’t think she was particularly liked by grandmaster jean “

“why ?”Mr Zhongli asked curiously tearing his gaze away from the gates to Liyue harbour as we left for the borders

“ Well im not totally sure but from what i heard from the goth grand hotel...apparently jean heard rumours that our adorable friend could take her in a duel , naturally she wasn’t very thrilled “

“ But those are mere rumours “ Zhongli chuckled

“Yes but since Yujing was just a visitor in mondstadt it would have been ridiculous for the acting grand master to challenge a guest “

“i see, but who would try to spread such absurd rumours ?”

“ I’m not sure but for now...we’re here”
