My grandmother dances like she's been possessed
But then exercised from a powerful demon
My mother smiles and hymns her thanks
All throughout her day
My father roars laughter
Using it as an excuse to drink and be merry
My brother shrugs with a half heart
While congregating with close friends;
My Brother asks for gifts and cake
Before really acknowledging why;
My BROHTER becomes proud
Only a natural right from himself
Today I will be merry
Joining my family in this celebration
This ritual of hope
and wishes of another term
Today I will say my thanks as of every other day
Today I will reflect and dance
Dance from my demons
Called death, disease, and misguidance
YES
Dance with great joy
Today I shall feel no remorse
Today I shall be extra sensitive
Extra forgiving
Extra proud and selfish
Today I will be;
For today is my birthday
