Pilot: Part One

DEX: (to Hayes) Is that all?

HAYES nods.

DEX: Alright, I need to go grab something from the printer.

LEE: Hey, if you see Marion can you tell her I finished fixing her laser pen?

DEX: Got it.

HAYES lets DEX pass him, but doesn't leave.

LEE: I'm assuming there's something else? Despite the fact that you just told Dex that was all?

LEE takes a sip from her mug as HAYES nods.

HAYES: I also came down to tell you that Agent Kayne is waiting in the lab for the supplies for her assignment.

LEE spits out her drink in surprise and looks up at HAYES.

LEE: That's today? Why the freak didn't you lead with that?

LEE looks in the mug.

LEE: What the hell did Maxine fill this with?

LEE sets the mug down, disgusted, as HAYES sighs.

HAYES: It's coffee and yes, it is today. So you'd better get down there. We both know how Kayne gets when she doesn't get her gear in time.

LEE: (fast) I'll get down there now.

HAYES: Good.

HAYES leaves and LEE sprints out of her office. She runs by DEX at the printer, who is waiting as his report packet is being printed. DEX looks up as LEE passes him and watches her run off in confusion.

DEX: Where are you going?

LEE doesn't slow down but turns her head to glance at DEX.

LEE: (yells) To stop myself from being thrown into a pit of fire ants!

LEE shoots down the staircase and DEX smiles while shaking his head. MAXINE appears next to him and hands him a folder while watching LEE disappear.

MAXINE: What's wrong with her?

DEX: If I had to guess, she's late giving Agent Kayne her supplies.

MAXINE: Oh.

Slight pause before MAXINE looks down at the file.

MAXINE: She's going to have to run faster than that.

DEX: Really? Five dollars says she makes it in time.

MAXINE looks up from the files and raises her eyebrow at DEX. He returns it with an amused inquiring look. MAXINE finally grins and starts laughing.

MAXINE: You are so on.

MAXINE hands the files to DEX, who takes them and looks through the first one.

DEX: What's all this?

MAXINE: Rockwell wants you to correct his reports for spelling errors and stuff like that.

DEX: (sighs) He is a thirty-year-old man, why can't he do it himself?

ROCKWELL appears behind DEX and leans on his shoulder, causing MAXINE and DEX jump.

ROCKWELL: Because you owe me for distracting me while Marion and I were training.

DEX: Bloody hell mate! A warning would be appreciated next time!
