The streets are empty not a sinner in sight. The shops are closed, except the few grocery stores that are forced to stay open, but their stocks are running low. As I walk past people in their homes hurry to close their blinds and curtains. They act as if I'm the thing that they so desperately fear. Nobody trusts anyone nowadays, not even their own families. However, I needed out. I couldn't stand it anymore, that house was driving me crazy. The walls were closing in and I could no longer take it, so I snuck out. I snuck out in the dead of night, when all is quiet, and danger lurks in every shadow waiting to pounce on some unsuspecting passer-by. I knew I shouldn't be out all because of the 'thing'. This so called 'thing' apparently abducts young defenceless people and experiments on them before sending them back to their families. None of its victims are ever the same. Howbeit, I don't think it's true, it's just a sensationalised old wives' tale. A hoax. Despite not believing it, I still walk with cautious steps looking behind me regularly to see if I'm being followed. Unanticipatedly I was grabbed. I woke up in the corner of a dark room with the thing staring at me. The only sound was my laboured breathing and a drip...drip...drip. My mind was spinning with questions of why me? I haven't done anything wrong! I thought it was fake. All just some big elaborate hoax! After what seemed like an eternity... the thing started limping forward. Closer and closer enroching on my personal space. Its face was gaunt and sickly pale. The thing spoke in a high-pitched voice sending terrified shivers down my spine, "follow... without resistance and it won't hurt.... much." I screamed.
