Aelin Barlow

Likes:

Aelin likes to read books, fiction and non fiction and often annotates them, one more seriously then the other. She likes to learn about new things this way and takes it pretty seriously.

Aelin loves to bake and cook. Her kitchen is filled with cookbooks and she does not eat out often, liking the whole process of preparing, making and eating a home cooked meal. She is not above eating out though, she merely prefers to eat at home.

Playing piano is another favorite pastime of Aelin. She learned to play the piano when she was younger and never stopped.

Dislikes:

Rude people. Aelin understands that you can't like every one but it is her opinion that you have to treat others with at least some respect.

Aelin does not like the feeling of wet clothes. Especially if it is raining, she is soaked through and she still has to walk through it.

Bugs. Aelin dislikes any and all bugs. While she finds a lot beautiful Aelin does not need to see one on her wall or table.

Strengths:

Aelin speaks French as a second language and it has helped her a few times with French speaking patients which she feels pretty proud of.

Aelin always tries to see the good in stressful and bad situations and tries to cheer up the people around her while doing so.

Aelin has a broad knowledge of the medical field. She does not know everything, is no expert in everything but she knows quite a lot.

Weaknesses:

Aelin struggles with quite a lot of self doubt. Sometimes she doubts whether or not she should be a doctor or if she choose the right expertise. A lot of times Aelin also doubts her ability to save patients. 

Aelin closes herself off when something is wrong or her past is bothering her. When she does so Aelin won't talk to anyone and keep it all to herself, sometimes resulting in panic attacks.

Habits:

Sleeping anywhere and everywhere, buying a plant only to let it die, forgetting to go to bed on time, not talking to people when she needs to, accidentally listening to other peoples conversations.

good traits:

Loyal, Kind, Curious, Understanding, Open minded.

Bad traits:

Not talking to people, Stubborn, Likes to do things her own way.

Fears:

Losing a patient. Aelin has lost a patient a few times but not a lot. Being a surgeon she knows that she can loose a patient anytime she performs a surgery.

Loosing her medical license. Aelin had always dreamed of becoming a doctor and does not see herself doing much else, besides teaching future doctors so the thought that with one wrong move she could loose her license is not her favorite thing to think about.

Father James Barlow (48, alive)

- Ever before the accident everything was fine between Aelin and her father. They did the things fathers and daughters usually did together and Aelin learned a lot from her father during this time. After her accident their relationship grew less. Aelin wanted to be a doctor which her father did not agree with and in result of that she did not speak to him for a long time.

Mother Sara Barlow (50, alive)

-Aelins relationship with her mother remains the same. A bit uptight and they don't talk as much as they used to but her mother does at least somewhat support Aelin in her decision to become a doctor. 

Sister Macy Barlow (41, alive)

-Aelin has a great relationship with her sister Macy. the two spend a lot of time together and when Aelin wanted to go to medical school after healing from her accident her sister helped her fulfill that dream.

Life:

- Aelin had a calm childhood. Playing with friends outside, going on vacation, going through school all without to much trouble. There was some teenage drama here and there but not a lot.

-At age 16 Aelin got into a pretty bad car accident with a friend. Both teens survived but were pretty shaken. Aelin had to stay in the hospital for a couple of weeks and spend a lot of time there. Her curiosity had her ask the doctors and nurses all kinds of questions and soon the medical field became very interesting.

-After graduating Aelin broke the news to her family that she had been accepted into medical school. Her mom and sister had been happy for her yet not her father, who told her to come back once she had a job, believing college was  not necessary.

-Becoming a doctor and getting a job at Grey Sloan meant the world to Aelin and she promised herself to do more then her best with her job.
