The Beach

The afternoon sunlight beat down hotly on the sand, which formed a thick band around the shoreline, warming the soft course grains.

Levy laid on the sand on her stomach, her head pillowed on her arms and her back towards the sun.

She let out a long relaxed sigh as Gajeel rubbed lotion over her bare back and shoulders, to keep her fair skin from reddening.

"This," she spoke, closing her eyes, "is a day at the beach."

Gajeel continued to massage the cream over her skin, smiling contently, "Hey, is that them, coming down the beach?"

Levy inclined her head and opened her eyes to view the couple that she had now spotted wading in the water.

"Hmm, maybe it is, let's go see," she spoke, standing up and wiping the grains off.

She let Gajeel lead her over with his hand on her back.

They quickly approached the familiar pair who was wading in the water, who, now observed in full view, were not the two they were expecting.

The people they found in the water were not Gray and Juvia, but a different set, still baring the same guild mark, curiously enough.

One, a muscular man with unmistakable pink hair, wearing a stupid grin on his face, and the other, a skinny, yet all the same curvaceous, blonde with brown eyes that lit up as she gazed upon Gajeel and Levy.

"Oh, hey, look who it is!" Levy smiled, "so you guys came back from your job?"

"Indeed we have, and it appears you have as well " the blonde, a celestial Mage, Lucy, nodded.

"Well, we invited Juvia and Gray to come with us, they should be here soon..."

Levy paused as, amazingly enough, she saw oncoming figures from the corner of her eye. She then then turned to view them fully, "And I guess they are here now."

"Hey guys," one familiar, Gray Fullbuster, spoke to the small assembly.

"Hey!"

"So I guess you guys are back from your job, huh?"

"Yep!" Natsu nodded enthusiastically, "we could have finished sooner but Lucy insisted on resting for the night before we came back."

"Well if I thought you could handle another train ride we wouldn't have." Lucy shook her head exasperatedly.

"Aww," Gray poured his lip teasingly as he and Juvia waded into the water with them, "poor Natsu couldn't handle it."

The small group all joined in laughter.

"Watch it ice princess, or I'll throw Lucy at you!" Natsu sneered.

"Hey!" Lucy clipped, folding her arms.

"Please," Gajeel huffed, "it's not like you could even toss her two feet."

"Wait," Lucy started, looking slightly offended, "are you calling me.."

"No," Gajeel said abruptly, "I'm sayin your boyfriend is too weak."

"Oh come on," Natsu scoffed, earning a small indignant squeak from Lucy as he nonchalantly scooped her out of the water in his arms, "this," he adjusted his grip on her, "this is nothing."

"Yeah right," Gray spoke, laughing, repeating the dragon slayer's actions and picking up Juvia, "you don't hold a candle to me."

Gajeel was next, hauling Levy out of the water and into his arms, as if she were a pool toy and they were about to participate in a game, "Sure you can hold her, but there's no way you could hope to toss her a few inches," he smirked, "unlike me, I bet I could get her twenty feet."
