Panic was an understatement for what Aelin Galathynius felt.

Rowan was safe. He was home, and she was here, alone. She was all alone. She wished she'd waited a few more seconds before telling Rhysand to leave. She wished she'd been holding onto Rowan when the blast had hit. She wished she'd been sent home too, even if it meant leaving without a goodbye.

She was alone.

No, that wasn't true. Mala lay useless in front of her, her well of information spent. A goddess no longer, not with her power trapped inside this force of creation before them both.

How could you have been so stupid? She chided herself. Her heart was a drumbeat in her ears. Deanna was almost here. The Cauldron was a ticking bomb. And there was no escape.

No. She refused to believe that this was it. Rowan was safe, Feyre and the others were safe. She was free to use any means possible to escape, without fear.

Without even having to think about it, fire erupted from her palms, flowing down Goldryn's blade and gracing the top of her head. She turned away from Mala to face the open door and the simmering Cauldron.

Aelin took one deep breath. Then she raised her sword in front of her, the flames flickering in the dark moonlight.

I am Aelin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius, and I will not be afraid. It had been a long time since she'd uttered those words, but they brought a scrap of comfort she dearly needed. Deanna wasn't Maeve. She wasn't intimidated by an ancient ring or magical fire. The only thing Deanna respected was pure, unadulterated strength.

So that's what Aelin would show. Even if she was trembling in her boots, she'd show no fear. What was it she'd told Maeve on the battlefield?

I am a god. And only a god can defeat another god.

Yaaaaaay, Aelin's back!!

Due to the terrible weather where I live, my copy of A Court of Silver Flames arrived a WEEK after its initial release. So, of course, I had already been spoiled for some new characters and minor plot points. 😞 Luckily nothing too huge, tho. Ok but seriously can we talk about ACOSF for a second. HOLY SHIT. HO-LY SHIT, that was a rollercoaster. SO. MANY. PLOT TWISTS!!! I'm trying so freaking hard not to spoil anything in case people haven't read it yet, but oh my god I think ACOSF might be my new favorite book in the ACOTAR series. There was one particular twist that literally had me choke-sobbing trying not to be loud because it was like 3 a.m. And don't even get me started on the relationships 🥺😭...the relationships in that book were beyond amazing, especially the ones between Nesta and her friends... tbh I might re-read it again pretty soon 😆
