Keet'ah Jacobs:
The ship is immaculate in my eyes, so it makes no sense to me as to why it's in my dads garage. My dad Flinton Jacobs is the best human, on Coku at interplanetary starship mechanics. He came to Coku on the run, with the hopes of a new identity, and a new life. What his name had been before he came to Coku, and before he met me, I have no idea, nor do I care. Where he lived (besides Earth of course) before he settled down in the loft above his shop, made of rust, steel, and glass. I don't know either. All that I do know is that when he found me hiding, behind a dumpster, after stealing food from his office. He could've killed me, turned me in, or sold me to a group pirates looking for a set of young hands, to clean the ship. But he didn't! That was 13 years ago, and I had been 5 years old, which in the eyes of my people, the Cokrons. Is old enough to account for your crimes. I would have been killed, more than likely, or used until I was deemed useless, or died some horrific way in space. If he hadn't took me in as his own, like he did. Coku is a small planet, known for our mechanically inclined skills. Cokrons have scales that are hard enough to bend most knife blades, and withstand heats that would leave nothing, but charred bones, of most other races! That means we're ideal for working around the heat, and sharp metal objects, commonly found in a garage. That may be why Flinton took me in, but in all honesty I'll never know. He doesn't really need me for help in the garage, with him only being 38 years of age, and having a build like a Boorgate war chief! He stands at 6'3, and weighs 217 pounds of solid muscle! The only difference between him, and a real Boorgate is their skin, and height. "What's that ship doing here?" I ask him as I enter his office, and make my way to the black leather office chair, in front of his desk. His office is newly refurbished, his desk always catches my eye, it's never the same. Due to the fact that every ship we work on together, gets a piece welded onto it. "Well son that will all be explained in due time", he says. Then he looks up at me, with his bright blue eyes, shining as bright as always. Nobody ever guesses my dads age correctly. With his blond hair always cut short in a buzz cut, and his clean shaven face, he can easily pass as being in his mid, to late twenties. "Hmmmm", I ponder aloud, as i gaze out his office window at the ship. As I study the ship I notice that it's an Al'Cerian design. A Sous-Totri 2275, they're known for their speed, and agility, but not for being cheap. They're priced at anywhere between 4 million rona, to 6 million! This one I'm willing to bet is closer to 6 million, due to the fact that it's ruby red, and has a turquoise accent that seems to glow. Your more likely to see a Sous-Totri 2275, at a docking station, or being used for quick interplanetary travel. You rarely ever see them in a warzone, or any other situation where heavy armor would be required, due simply to the fact that armor would take away from the ships agility. I've never seen a ship with the type of reputation that these have, up close, and in person. "Want to take a tour of her?" my dad asks, now standing by my right shoulder. His ear to ear grin is contagious, as I glance at him. "Is that even a question," I say, then push him to the side, and bolt out the door laughing. My shove is stronger than I meant it to be, and the startled look on my dads face, as he falls into the chair that I had been sitting in only moments ago, adds to my laughter.
When I reach the ship the door is closed, and I'm at a complete loss on how to open it. "Parm'is" my dad says, from behind me, having finally caught up to me. What language is that? As I try and run through my memory, on languages, a hissing sound emanates from the ship, and the door begins to lower.
As the door lowers, the steps come out of the door itself, almost like an escalater. Woah! I marvel at the level of detail put into the ship, as the door comes to stop pressed firmly to the floor of the garage. The steps that lead into the belly of the ship are the same shade of red as the ship itself, except they're transparent! As for the hydraulics on the door, they're turquoise, and chrome. "Follow me son," my dad says, with a quick smile to me, then he climbs up into the marvel before my eyes.
When i enter the ship my breath catches at the sight that awaits me. The floor of the ship is as black as a furnace that hasn't seen a flame for years! Testing the texture of the floor I'm shocked to find out that its covered in a smart material unique to Cerio. It makes losing your footing nearly impossible, which is pretty handy with the speeds this ship can manage. The walls, and ceiling are a mixture of ruby red, and turquoise. But even that pales in comparison to the technology that this ship is equipped with! All around me anything that could be perceived as a screen, is holographic! Instead of regular turning dials, and buttons, the ship has golden motion sensors. Then I look towards the front of the ship, and I see the equivalent of a presidential suit, with the captains seat the equivalent of a kings throne. If of course a president made his home on a mid-sized star hopper. I really want to see what the captains quarters look like, but everyone knows that to enter a captains quarters, and to not be a captain, is an extreme sign of disrespect. Whistling, I turn a full 360 to take it all in, and my eyes land on a solid gold holographic-table, placed in the dead center of the room we're standing in. "Re'An" my father says, while looking at the table. There's that language again, at first I thought maybe it had been Al'Cerian, but hearing it again I begin to think I might've been wrong. Before I can ask what the language is the table flares to life, and forms a glowing red hologram standing in the center of the table. The hologram looks to be of elven decent, but possibly something else as well?
"Yes?" the hologram asks, in a voice that could sooth an injured Birenit. Trust me that's a task I personally thought impossible, until I heard that voice flow through the speakers. Not only is the holograms voice flawless, but the smoothness in which she moves. It's so close to a real person that if it wasn't for the fact that she glowed red, has turquoise orbs for eyes, and seems to be floating, I could easily believe her to be real. "Begin start-up sequence 3.7, with primary captain being Keet'ah Jacobs."
Before I fully grasp what my dad has just said, I feel the weight of his gaze. Almost as if he's reading my very brainwaves. Then his words sink in, "WHAT???" my voice comes out louder than I mean it to be, and the hologram turns her penetrating stare onto me. What did my dad just say? It almost sounded like he just told this hologram. Re'An? To make me this ships primary captain! That can't be right can it? For some reason the words get lodged in my throat, and I only manage to stand there with my mouth open, and shock all over my face. "Start-up sequence 3.7, is now in process. Now scanning new primary captain," the voice sounds as if it's coming from miles away. I barely even notice the red light washing over my body, all I can do is stare at my dad, as my head spins. "Happy 18th birthday son." I hear, then the world goes dark, and consciousness abandons me.
