"come-on-please-"

ricky's felt numb. his whole entire body was numb from the cold and the wind. his arms were tired and he was panting for oxygen as he continued to perform cpr on nini's lifeless body

he had gotten her out of the ocean before she could drown, luckily for them, but he had seen the pole hit her and he needed to keep her alive until gina and the others came so that they could get to the hospital to see if anything bad had happened to her head.

he had managed to call them while he was starting chest compressions and they said they would be here soon, but it feels like it's been ages and he couldn't let nini die.

"come-on-" he cries as he tries his best to continue, his breathing coming in more ragged and his wet curls dropped over his forehead as the water drops fell onto nini's cold face

"please neens-"

ricky hears the sound of water splashing and looks back as he continues to do compressions to see a boat arriving rapidly with a worried brunette woman

"ricky?!" she calls

the boy nods "yeah-"

"okay, keep her there, don't move her!" aria yells

"shouldn't-there be an-ambulance?" he asks

"they're on their way."

"and you are-?"

"aria,"

ricky widens his eyes in slight surprise. he remembers the woman from when him and nini were younger.

"aria-?"

"keep doing the compressions!" she exclaims

he quickly does as he's told and feels his arms getting even more tired than before-if that was even possible

"come-back-neens-"

he hears alarms blaring from behind him and feels relief flood him for a split second before hearing splashes and fast-paced footsteps

the medics quickly came with a long stretcher and put nini onto it before carrying her back to the boat that was near the shore

ricky ran after them and got into aria's boat as they all sped back to the mainland to get her to a hospital as quick as possible

"ricky, put your jacket on," aria says

"i'm fine-"

"you've been out in this horrible whether all soaked for half an hour. nini would want you to take care of yourself even if she's hurt, put your jacket on." she pleads

at the mention of nini, ricky takes a deep breath and quickly looks around the boat for his jacket before wrapping it around him and sitting down on the seat, his eyes on the ambulance boat further ahead from them

he felt his eyes sting and took deep breaths to try and control himself

once they all get to the mainland, the two don't think twice to jump out of the boat and run towards the hospital that was only a few minutes away

they arrive to the little hospital and rush into the building

"nineteen year-old female, boat pole hit to the back of her head and fell into the water, bp 80mm hg systolic." a man announces as they pull nini in on a stretcher

"alright, we need to move," another man yells as they enter a room

"nini-"

"i need a chest tube in here!"
"she's going to need a c.t scan-"

ricky watches as the multiple doctors tend to nini in a rush and he feels his heart beating out of his chest

"nini-" he tries to go closer to her and take her hand, but gets stopped by another doctor

"sir, you need to take a step back-"

"no, please-"

"look, you did good. you did your job to keep her alive, now please let us do ours." another woman says calmly

ricky shudders a breath and nods slowly as he watches them close the door behind them and the blinds too

he heads over to the wall of the waiting room and slumps down slowly onto the floor, his eyes watering as his breath starts to quicken, burying his head in his hands.

aria had called carol and dana as well as all of their friends before heading towards ricky with a frown

she sat down next to him and pulled him in for a hug as ricky cried into his shoulder

"i-it's n-not supposed to h-happen like this-" he mumbles

aria takes a deep breath, running her hand up and down his back in comfort

"i know," she whispers before pulling away "but now they have her and they're going to save her. she's going to be fine. okay?"

ricky wipes his tears and sniffles before nodding, trying to convince himself that she was going to be okay, because she had to be.
