He shook his head before he was lost in his thoughts again. "No thank you. I want to see them." His voice was soft and quiet. Maybe he didn't want to worsen the pounding headache of too much everything and nothing that had been beating at his mind for the last week. Maybe he just didn't want to talk too much.

Izuku was still confused on what he wanted in the first place.

The nurse nodded and moved to leave the room. "Oh, and Midoriya-kun?" She asked in a soft voice. Izuku looked up from his fingers. "If you're going to invite the wildlife inside, please do tell me so Sammy may have something better than stale rice. I expect you'd want only the best for your new friend." Izuku was shocked for a moment before giving a sheepish nod.

The nurse smiled and shut the door behind her.

Izuku stared out the window, wishing for the blue bird named Sammy to come back and relieve his headache of everything and nothing pounding and beating on the inside of his mind.

Katsuki's POV

Katsuki stood in front of the door. He wanted to knock. Everyone else was taking to each other in hushed whispers and worried voices and it annoyed the hell out of the explosive blonde.

He couldn't bring himself to knock.

What if Izuku didn't really want to see him? What if Katsuki was terrified of what he would find? Were his best friend's legs really gone? How was that possible, in a world where people with healing quirks were pretty much destined to become doctors? With each question, an answer never appeared.

Katsuki felt his teacher's gaze on the back of his neck and sighed. There was no point in standing there like and idiot. Katsuki Bakugou raised his and knocked on the white door, not waiting for a reply as he entered the room.

When he looked up, the first thing he saw was Izuku Midoriya sitting in a hospital bed with the covers pulled up to his waist. The green haired boy had bandages dotting his arms and cheeks, and he sipped on an All Might sports drink that was pretty much just slush by now.

Izuku looked up and tears filled his eyes. He wiped them away and smiled. Katsuki hated that smile. It wasn't bright, it wasn't happy, it wasn't Izuku.

"Kacchan." Izuku said just one word and Katsuki was already running. He didn't care about the IV drip connected to Izuku's arm. He didn't care about the fact that Izuku might not want a Pomeranian launching himself at him.

Katsuki barreled into Izuku and held onto him as if the boy would disappear the second he loosened his grip. So he never did. Katsuki gripped onto Izuku and hugged harder than he had ever hugged before.

Izuku hugged back, and Bakugou felt water wetting his shirt. He simply pressed Izuku's face into his chest.

"I know Izuku. I know." Five words. Izuku held onto each and every one like they were a lifeline. Maybe they were.

For what seemed like an almost maybe somewhat eternity of almost maybe some heat five minutes, Katsuki held onto Izuku and Izuku held onto Katsuki.

Finally, Bakugou pulled away and held Izuku at arm's length. "The shitty teacher said- he said your legs are.... gone. Is- is it true?" Katsuki hadn't stuttered like that since Izuku's last panic attack. That was a pretty long while ago.
