|12| Thank You. Thank You For Saving Me When I Didn't Want To Be

Start from the beginning

"You know, fun stuff in the windows. Like, "Hey, Sho', look at the plushie! Get it for my birthday!"

"No." Hizashi grinned and turned to Shouta, scratching his head as if confused.

"Wow, you do a great imitation of my husband, sir! You're hired!" Shouta gave a sarcastic grin right back, savagery at full peak.

"Because we all know the only imitation you can do is of a cockatoo." Hizashi dramatically clutched his hand to his chest, looking as if Aizawa had just kicked his puppy.

"I'm hurt!"

"That's my job."

"Anyways. We're window shopping, I'm trying to get Sho' to accept a cat onesie for his birthday-"

"Absolutely not."

"-And we finally get to the ice cream shop. I get banana, Tensei wants blueberry, Nemi wants whatever that purple stuff was, and Sho' here gets chocolate." Izuku laughed, looking at his homeroom teacher in disbelief. Shouta sighed, preparing for the onslaught of questions.

"Never pegged you for a chocolate person, Mr. Aizawa! Is that really your favorite flavor?" Hizashi chuckled maliciously, drumming his fingers together in a rather concerning manner. Shouta resisted the urge to groan aloud.

"Actually, his favorite is some sort of black licorice abomination." Izuku looked at Shouta in horror, as if the man had just kicked yet another puppy. Hizashi snorted at his expression, hiding an apologetic smile behind his hand. Shouta glared as his husband whispered out a small 'sorry'. Shouta glared some more. "He only got it because, and I quote, 'it's the closest thing to black'. You should've seen him back in our U.A. days, he was such an emo!"

Shouta sent out a strand of his scarf to smack Hizashi in the face, eliciting a yelp. The man rubbed his cheek as he continued the story. "So we head back to school, and may I just say, it's a wonderful day outside. The sky is a perfect blue, fluffy white clouds floating throughout the bright expanse."

"Who knew you were so poetic."

"Not me! We do some more window shopping, I try to get Shouta to accept a cat sleeping bag-"

"Absolutely not."

"We go into a music store for some stuff, Shouta is really into some types of rock, y'know-"

"I am not."

"-Until we finally get back to school. We trek back up to the little grass patch of property Nemi and Tensei are supposed to be waiting for us on. But, surprise surprise, they're gone!"

"They so had something to do with the date."

"So you admit it was a date. So we're sitting there, under a big shady tree on the most perfect day."

"Except you screamed that morning and woke me up. You forget we were neighbors." Izuku gave a laugh, tapping his hands against the blanket impatiently. Huh. Shouta had almost forgotten they were at a hospital.

"Haha, yeah. So we're sitting there, under a big shady tree- oh, I already said that. AnYwAyS." Izuku snorted, earning a small smile from Shouta. Hizashi grinned, shoving the broccoli child playfully. The two's banter almost drowned out the monitors.
