|12| Thank You. Thank You For Saving Me When I Didn't Want To Be

After a few more minutes, Hizashi relented, helping Izuku to sit back up as the green haired child struggled to catch his breath. He wiped his sparkling green eyes, a few small leftover giggles escaping him. Izuku leaned over to playfully shove his teacher, his face contorting into a pout.

"You still have to answer the question!" He said, pointing an accusing finger at his teachers. Hizashi dramatically sighed as Shouta pushed his arm gently.

"You're answering this one." Shouta said, eliciting a pained yell.

"Why meeee?"

"Because I said so."

Izuku grinned, leaning forward even further. His eyes sparkled with mischief and curiosity, gleaming with a childish light. He was obviously enjoying this more than the two teachers. Hizashi pouted before straightening up, his voice gaining a dramatic lilt.

"Well, it all started in our second year at U.A. We were in the same class, y'know, class 2-A."

"Really?"

"Yes. Now hush, child." Shouta snorted as Izuku dutifully sat back on the raised mattress. Hizashi cleared his throat before continuing. "Midnight and Ingenium, Tensei Iida-"

"Iida's big brother?"

"-were our best friends, we were all in the same class. Now, there was this one day where we all got to just screw around, basically a half day. We did a few worksheets and a bit of training the first three periods, and then it was a free for all. The teachers were stuck with conferences and paperwork, so we were free to just do what we wanted."

"Now, we could have gone home, but most of the students stayed. Some of us wanted to do some sparing, some wanted to study, some just wanted to hang out since our parents were at work and whatnot. Now, me, Sho', Nemi- Midnight- and Tensei decided it was so nice outside we wanted to have a picinic. Nemi and Tensei totally knew something, by the way, because they decided they wanted ice cream. The demon treat."

Shouta gave another snort, rolling his eyes. Hizashi playfully hit him in return. "Me and Shouta were selected as tribute to walk through town for the ice cream." Izuku tilted his head, confused about something.

"But... if it's ice cream, won't it melt on the way back, or fall off the cone?"

Hizashi shook his head. "Nah, they were in this cup things, like McDonald's does with their McFlurry things."

"Ah."

"Yeah. So, like, me and Sho' are walking down the street to the nearest ice cream parlor, it's actually pretty close. But, surprise surprise, it's closed! Something about Wednesday being an off day. So, we have to go aaaalll the way to the next ice cream parlor, which is, like, a mile away!" Shouta shoved his husband, rolling his eyes as he turned to Midoriya.

"It was literally thirty minutes. He's just a big baby." Izuku giggled as Yamada gave an indignant huff, crossing his arms with a pout. Shouta gave a sadistic grin in the blonde's direction, causing him to shudder.

"Anyways, so we're walking down the streets, and it's so far away that we start window shopping."

"You started window shopping." Shouta had now decided to chime in with some commentary. You know, spice things up for the eagerly listening child. Hizashi gave another huff.
