Aug. 16, 2000                                                                                                                     In front of Gristedes

I walk outside with John holding my hand.

"Hey, Laurie! This is where we first met!"

"I know Alexander," he mutters in a nervous shake in his normally smooth voice.

I turn around wondering if everything was okay, he never calls me alexander.

"Are you okay Laurie?"

He takes a deep breath and smiles.

"Hey whatcha doing the rest of your life, because I'll be here, right beside you as long as you want me to be." he slowly gets down on one knee as he talks.

"There's no question, there is nothing I've wanted so much in my life. It might sound immature but I'm totally sure you're the one. Alexander Hamilton, Will you marry me?"

"Yes! Yes of course Laurie! Took you long enough!"

"Excuse me?! You could have proposed." he laughs.

"Yes but I know that you would-"

He shuts me up by kissing me, passionate, yet still gentle.

We have just begun.
