Rory's POV
Once we got home, the shock started to wear off, and sadness started to work its way in. My heart
had been broken so many times in the last few months; I didn't know if I could deal with this
latest development in the Rory saga. Mom's comforting, "it's okay, Rory will get through this
together." No longer helped heal my devastation, I know it sounds weak and girly, but I need him
right now; I needed Jess.
My thoughts were brought back to the present as the downtrodden jeep came to a halt in front
of a large house that only reminded me of one person, my beloved grandfather.
We get out of the car, sadly. Can you get out of a car, sadly? Then once inside the oversized home,
the maid takes our coats, mine a light blue jean jacket, and mom's her favorite pink jacket. "Do
you know where Emily is?" Mom asked the wide-eyed maid, who at the mention grandma began
shaking and lead to the kitchen. "Okay then." Mom watched the maid leave. "Do you think she's
upstairs?" I asked. "Do you think there's a drink cart upstairs?" Mom said with her quirky voice.
"Good point." I nodded. We walked into the living room to see grandma dresses in a black silk
robe with silver trim and was obviously expensive. Her hair was a mess, red clumps stuck out in
groups. In her left hand was a cristal cup with ornate carvings that seemed to be filled to the
brim with some kind of alcohol. "Hi, grandma," I said trying to be cheerful in the face of dark
times.
"Hello Rory!" Grandma said in a very drunk high strung voice.
"Are you ready for the minister to come over?" I asked.
"Oh, is that today? I'll go get dressed." She got up, glass still in hand, and wobbled over to the
stairs. Mom grabbed the goblet from grandma's shaking hand, grandma did not seem to notice.
Drinking deeply mom's eyes widened, "This is whisky." At that moment the doorbell rang out
through the house. I ran to get it.
"Hello, I'm-" A mostly bald man dressed in all black with an ebony top hat.
" The minister I know, come in." I cut him off. He came in and took off his heavy jacket, "Maid!" I called, the small scared-looking woman shuffled to us.
I led him to the dinning room table where mom sat gorging herself on the cheese that were
displayed on the table. "Grandma will down in a minute." We all sat uncomfortably at the table
for a long long time.

Jess's POV ( A few days after Rory's)
I was almost to Stars Hallow. It had been a lengthy yet enjoyable road. With the money, I found I
was able to eat full meals and even purchase a few souvenirs, and by that I mean books. Just
before I left Vergina I had stopped by a local book store and got the hardcover illustrated version
of Oliver Twist, I hopped that with this gift Rory she might forgive me.
( A couple of hours later at the Gilmore mansion)
Once I made it to Ms. Gilmore's house I saw that Lorlias's coffee-colored jeep and a small silver
car that I assumed was Rory's new car. I got out of my car/house and walked up to the door
which held only terrible memories, I think that it was my least favorite door in the world. But
even with all of my fears, I knew that I had to do this and so I knocked, and shortly after a very
pretty blue-eyed girl open the door. "Hi, Rory."
"Jess."
