Rory's POV

I gently placed a cute pink top that I got in Paris. Mom and I were leaving today, going home was

going to be hard, starting college was going to be hard, but telling mom about Jess was going to

be the hardest. If there is even anything to tell. Jess and I had talked a couple more times five

days. "Hey ready to go?" Mom asked with a knock as she entered the Febreze scented room.

"Yeah."

We left our room, mom checked out while I got the last glass of raspberry lemonade in the lobby.

We took an orange cab to the airport, the driver was nice I think his name was Cedric.

We passed airport security even though mom gave a german shepherd a gummy worm.

We got on the plane and headed home.

But there was one problem it wasn't going to be anything like home because someone wasn't going to be there.....

Jess's POV

I hopped into my car and opened the glove compartment to find one five-dollar bill. Hoping to

find some money street I walked down the brick sidewalks through the town. Just as I turned a

corner down an ally way something black and leather flashed by me. A smile plastered on my

face I raced after it. The golden opportunity stopped just short of a moldy copper drain. I

slammed my knees to the cold hard ground and grabbed the wallet. I expected to find twenty or

thirty dollars but I was mistaken. What I found in the object was far more than I could ever had

expected. As I open the wallet several hundred dollar bills fell to the floor and two shining silver

quarters.  An odd urge came over me as I grasped the money. So I went to my normal payphone

and dialed a number I couldn't remember using but knew by heart. "Hello, Luke's Diner." My

uncles raspy draw sounded.

"Hey, Uncle Luke."

"Jess." I could almost see Miss Patty turn around,

"Yeah, it's me. I just wanted to see how you were, tell you that I was still alive."

"Okay, that's good. (He paused) Oh um, I'm good."

"Good. Um, also I wanted to tell you that I am going to me in Stars Hallow the week that Rory gets back."

"Did you know that that's this week?"

"No." Had I really gotten that stupid on the road?

"Oh, so I guess that she didn't tell you."

"Tell me what?" I demanded.

"Richerd died. Heart attack."

"Oh, so that's why Rory hasn't called me in the last couple of days," I said getting a little worried.

"Yeah, that would probably be the culprit."

"Ok, so I'll be there soon."

"Great, see you soon."

I hung up. Without even stopping to get food I got in my car secured me new found money and

headed north. I had to be there for Rory, she and Richard had always been close I knew that. I

had been horrible to her and I needed to fix that. Now.
