𝑰𝑽𝒀 𝑹𝑶𝑺𝑬𝑾𝑶𝑶𝑫 knows that there are better places to live than in District Three. The tech district is large, bleak, overly polluted, facing severe oppression from the Capitol. Weak sunlight filters in through the clogged air in pale, watery beams. Many of its citizens, sharp-minded and cool-eyed, live in abject poverty. But she refuses to become like them, their blank cold gazes cast down and their movements stiff and sad, like wraiths. Forever cursed to stumble along under the iron fist of President Snow and the always-looming threat of being reaped for the Hunger Games. She tries to help out where she can, bringing food to those who can't get it themselves, focusing on living, surviving, helping others to survive as well.

And then the unthinkable happens. Ivy is reaped for the 74th Annual Hunger Games. From there, everything changes. She becomes determined to make it back home, even though the odds of a District Three tribute even surviving past the bloodbath are slim to none. But then she meets the bloodthirsty girl from District Two who likely knows twenty different ways to kill her with a knife, who is fierce and powerful and terribly intriguing, and wonders for the first time what it must be like to be in love.
