chapter fifty five ~ the one with joey's sisters
Heather's POV

To take my mind off the fact that I had just ended another relationship, my friends were trying to make me feel better. I felt awful that I was all sad and depressed, especially when it was Joey's birthday but I couldn't help it; all I had been feeling since the breakup was sad and depressed. Obviously, this relationship hadn't been as long or as serious as the first one that had ended in New York but it still hurt as much because I really loved the guy. It was my own fault, I kept telling myself not to rush into anything after Carl and I did exactly that, I thought that taking things slow was the best answer but Nick never wanted to do that. He was looking for someone that he could marry, have kids with and keep in shackles to keep his house clean and that wasn't me. It would never be me and I made the vow to never let a man come before my career again. Now that I had passed my Real Estate exam, it was my second chance at this city and I was going to do things right.

No more dating for me, now was the time that I had for my career and that was what I needed to focus on. So, here I was at my brother's apartment pretending that I wasn't still thinking about Nick and pretending that I was happy about being single. I wasn't the only person pretending not to be upset, as Chandler was still getting over Janice and had taken to drinking his sorrows away. I hadn't had chance to have much drinks because the girls had been watching me carefully all night. Tonight, was my chance to let loose and to have fun without worrying about boyfriends or dating; tonight, I was going to spend time with my friends and drink a lot, as long as the girls would eventually let me.

Rachel placed her hand on my shoulder. "Heather, we know a breakup can be hard but from what you've said about that dinner, you're better off without him."

"Yeah, besides this is your chance to focus on you for a little bit." Monica added. "You've passed your Real Estate exam and I've got you that temporary job at the diner."

"Oh, that'll be so much fun! Working together!" Phoebe clapped her hands together but I still wasn't feeling any better.

"Okay, we need drinks." Monica grabbed the birthday boy because the only way to get me feeling better now was to let me drink. "Joey, where are the Jell-O-shots?"

"I don't know, Chandler's supposed to be passing them..." We all looked for my brother, finding him trying to feed the fake dog as he must be super drunk. "Chandler!"

"Hello-dee-lo!" He slurred, almost falling over before he made it over to us.

Ross smirked. "Somebody's feeling better."

"Stick out your tongue." Monica ordered.

"Take off your shirt!"

No one did as he requested so he stuck out his tongue and sure enough it was blue, which meant that he had drunk all of the shots by himself. "Oh my God!"
